GAME THREAD 7-10-2005 SOX vs A's
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to rangercal's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) Considering he's not coming close to hitting homers, something needs to be done. All the progress he made at the plate last year has diminished, and he's now a below average offensive MLB player. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's hitting like .275... At worst he's an average offensive MLB player... -
Harris thinks he should play everyday.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Yup, he sure did. That he can have his best offensive night of the season, going 3-for-4, and still have an OBP under .300. Meanwhile, a struggling Willie Harris -- who is clearly not playing at his best, or even at his average self right now (not saying he's hurt, just saying he's not playing well) -- still has an OBP over .300. Plus he's better defensively. Plus he can steal a bag late in the game. I'm not gonna try and defend Harris as an everyday player. But he's better than Timo -- a lot better. And I just got home from the game. Any reason why Rowand/Thomas/Iguchi all were benched, after a day off? Any *good* reasoning for that yet? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You hit the nail right on the head right there... If we only used Willie as a PR and defensive replacement he'd be more useful then Timo... -

Willie has always played better with consistant playing time. He's still more valuable then Timo even while completely blowing offensively. Third if you actually read the article it says he desires more playing time, who doesn't. What do you expect him to say. I'm perfectly happy never being any better then what I am now. It's fun to blame this game on Willie but the guy hasn't played in like a week. He shouldn't of been in the 2 spot period... -
GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to tonyho7476's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I think you are all being a tad bit over dramatic about Willie... yes he has had a terrible offensive game today... However think about it... how much offense are we really expecting from either Timo or Willie. If we are depending on either of them to hit much of anything we are in trouble. So doesn't it make more sense to get the one that has better defense, can actually play the IF, and actually gives us a decent pinch runner in late game situations. Timo brings NOTHING to the plate. At least Willie brings speed and defense even if his offense is suspect at times.. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Timo, "easy out" Perez, has two of our 5 hits. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I stand by what I said... He's a loser no matter how many lucky hits he has... -

I'm sorry but Ozzie works to put the most pathetic lineups on the field behind Garland. What does he think that he's such a sure thing that he can survive having Timo "easy out" Perez in the lineup and I like Willie Harris but a slumping Willie Harris in the two hole... I mean come on! -
QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Im suprised Gload isnt with the Sox already <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did someone make him our Union Rep and not tell us?
-
QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I think Patterson needs a change of scenery. Baker has play head games with him the last few years... I wouldnt mind Patterson coming off the bench anything to get Timo off the team <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uhhh no... We need Timo off this team and to get someone who can play first base. Corey Patterson blows the big one.... Now Aubrey Huff on the other hand... LOL!
-
QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) How about we trade a prospect for Corey Patterson and released Timo <{POST_SNAPBACK}> let me think...trading for a slacker headcase who thinks he's a power hitter... no thanks... Timo won't even be here soon (I hope! )

QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) This is a terrible thread.. TERRIBLE. We havent made the playoffs yet. We havent clinched the division... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not to mention that with Jason "6 ERA" Schmidt we'd be right back to the ole automatic loss every 5 days. In fact the only way I can imagine us totally missing the playoffs is if that wash up joined the team. If your going to give up top prospects at least get us someone with a decent ERA who isn't completely blowing it this year...

Not a trade thread, a trade POLL
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to drowninginflame's topic in Pale Hose Talk
LOL! Absolutely hilarious... I think i'll wait to vote after the Polls fixed... However KW has to be really careful. This teams success has everything to do with Chemistry. Adding some washout steriod junkie like schmidt or guy like Vizquel who'd we be trapped with for 2 more years isn't going to help us. We need someone who's not too old and washed up, but experienced enough that they can add to the team. Not to mention play a position we actually need help with, which would be 3B, SP, or RP. -
QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 06:54 PM) Rowand is more of a hard-nosed player, Wells seems a to be more of a slacker (at least that's what they make him out to be after BBTN grilled him for not getting the ball in quick enough on a single by Tejada, he sort of non-chalantly picked up the ball as Tejada went for 2nd). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats the other thing about Rowand that people don't take into consideration... I don't think people realize or think about how much his work ethic and hard nosed attitude plays into the success of the team.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) have you heard him say anything about it to the public? to prove me wrong <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never said Everett is complaining... However you can't judge what Vizquel will do based on what Everett did. Not to mention the fact that even if Vizquel didn't complain about batting down in the order the extra two years we'd be stuck with him is a deal breaker...
-
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) everett isnt complaining about his playing time and he has a big ego <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your kidding right... Wow I honestly don't even know how to respond to that... :headshake
-
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) vizquel would move down in the order to play for a winning team <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ohh so you've spoken to him... He's a big name...with big names come big ego's. If I were you I wouldn't be so quick to just assume that.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) If you could get Wells for Rowand and Tracey would you do it? Wells is faster and hits for more power. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's not that much better then Rowand... I say showing loyalty to him does more for team image in the long run...
-
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) never said were getting rid of uribe, if he has a good arm id rather have him at third, and then vizquel at short, it makes sense, but obviously not to your hollow skull <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If Vizquel was under a one year contract I would agree with you... but no way should be be stuck with him for 2 more years while he continues to decline. Not to mention I doubt he'd be happy as our #9 hitter and Ozzie would be insane to move Gooch down when he has done absolutely everything right in that role... But of course i'm the one with the "hollow skull"
-
Ohh wow... I stand corrected... Well I still don't see the point in giving up the extra talent for him...
-
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) wtf u talking about vizquel is a good shortstop defenisvely, he has gold gloves uribe has none, good look it up <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uribe young has range...Vizquel old losing range.... Unless the Vizquel trade comes with a fountain of youth clause.... no deal...
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Kind of. His batting average with the bags loaded is no good. And 9 out of 18 scoring a man on 3rd with <2 outs is not great either. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He was being sarcastic... but thats beside the point... he's a late starter/second half performer anyway...
-
Wait... you mean Jimmy Piersall is still alive?
-
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) what i dont get is where would we put vizquel, my guess is that crede would be included or maybe willie, thats what i dont get, shouldnt take much to get schmidt get schmidt and vizquel give crede? mccarthy for sure, sweeney and marte thats my proposal <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uhh... huh.... So your saying 2 top prospects and one of the best lefty relievers in the game even in a suppar year to be given up for a weaker defensive SS with only slight offensive improvement as our #9 hitter and a pitcher that was mediocore till he went to the west coast and got introduced to Balco.... Excuse me while I :puke There is no way in heck I take Vizquel no matter how cheap that let him go for because he weakens our defense and we'd be stuck with him three years. As for Schmidt the only trade I do for him is Joe Borchard straight up with ALOT of cash coming our way.... To give us the farm for him and make us a second place team in the process is just insane....
-
I think Jose is perfectly fine as our 4th and 5th starter and would be insane to move him for someone with far worse numbers. If we're going to take him out of the rotation it better be for an improvement and not someone who is going to put up an ERA almost 2 points higher then his own by the end of the year...
-
Plus it's not worth the difference in the talent we would have to give up to get him... No way they give him up for just Rowand...
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Wells is making just over $3,000,000 this season, hardly big money like Mr. Griffey. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well if i'm not mistaken he'll be a free agent sooner though right?
