  1. Would it still own when your not able to afford anything to eat for 6 months? There's always the soup kitchen though...
  2. Actually he was more then likely asked to leave... Seriously though I might take him if he came really cheap. The cubs would have to pay his salary for this year and only want some mid-level prospects. Low risk, High reward.
  3. I just can't imagine Borchard doing anything that would even resemble a decent year. I think Kendall should be a top priorty for us (he is definately at the top of my wish list). However if we have to give up Garland for him we better be ready to replace him in the rotation. A rotation of Buherle, Garcia, Contreras, Diaz, Grilli going into the season next year would not be good news for Sox fans...
  4. I don't want him either. It would be like me going out and buying a 52 inch plasma TV. Yeah it would be cool to have but it would look pretty stupid in my small apartment. The point is we don't have the budget to be able to afford him, improve our bullpen, sign a decent 5th starter (since Garland would more then likely be gone), and field a competitive offense.
  5. I have to agree with Beck that Harris has more upside then Crede but I can't imagine anyone giving anything of value for Crede if we already have a replacement for him.
  6. That might have more meaning if the Bears didn't suck...
  7. Uribe is a big part of our team next year for sure. In fact I'd venture to bet that we will end up counting on him to pick up alot more of the offensive slack with Maggs gone.
  8. I'm still praying for a good setup man and a solid starter.... ....and Jason Kendall too...
  9. Patience is a virtue you know...
  10. Also how exactly did Willie and Uribe fail... Uribe hit over .280 and Willie had a .262 average and .343 OBP both with sporatic playing time (had to make way for Jose Valentin) I just don't get what is so horrible about Willie when we still have Everett in the starting lineup of this team!
  11. Likewise for you... ...and last time I checked we don't give contracts for past performance. Even your boy Jay Gibbons had to start somewhere. Look we all have players we stick with and root for. I've been signing the praises of Aaron Rowand for the last 2 1/2 years on various boards. I never once got off the bandwagon and I kept with him and eventually he proved me right. During that same time I've shown the same faith in Willie Harris and more recently Felix Diaz. Time will tell before I see if i'm right about them. I respect that you like Jay Gibbons and I wish him only the best for his career. I'm sure he's a very nice guy. I just don't see him as a fit for this team.
  12. I would love to get Koskie but I can't imagine anyone giving us anything worth while for Crede if we already have another 3B already signed. Then again I think Koskie gives us something a little bit more dependable which is what we need.
  13. What I meant was had he hit .250 with Cleveland then there is no way that sox fans would of accepted him as a started shortstop the following year. Thats what I was trying to say.
  14. If they gave up Matsui then Cashman would be fired immediately.
  15. First off I said Gibbons sucks. I would like you to show me one time when I said anything at all about Roberts. Also I'm not glad to see Carl here. Hence why I think it's so important to get a decent outfielder (i.e. NOT GIBBONS :puke ) However to say we could get anything better for Rauch is a stretch. And yes I think that Uribe and Harris are a great double play combo.
  16. You misunderstood what I said. I said had he hit that last year with Cleveland. I have no idea how he would of done for us. However I agree with you 100% on everything else you said.
  17. How am I off topic. I was responding to what southsider had said. Not all the posts I have made on this thread are meant to be directed at you. I have already said why I think that Uribe and Harris are suitable for our middle infield and I don't have any more to say about it. You have every right to disagree with my opinions but please don't start to level personal attacks on me.
  18. I don't want Grilli anywhere near this team next year. I don't even think he had one quality start. At least Diaz but up good numbers in AAA and at least showed some promise of improving at the major league level (though it was in a long relief role). I just can't imagine Grilli even being able to beat Diaz in spring training. That being said I don't want either in the rotation. I want a sure thing not another maybe. Grilli=04' Danny Wright
  19. True but even if we signed him to a three million dollar deal I think that sox fans would have been against it. I mean it's hard to imagine we would talk about Garland, Harris, Crede being mediocore and then be happy about signing someone else who would be medicore offensively. It's not all about cost.
  20. I agree that the sox wanted a team built on speed and defense. However had Vizquel batted .250 last year there is no way we show the same amount of interest and sox fans would of cruicified KW for signing him.
  21. Rauch lost all trade value when KW publically said he would give him away for pratically nothing. At least with Everett there is a chance he can get himself back into shape. If he can become even half of the player he once was then I think we got the better of the deal. Besides your talking about a guy who was almost 7 feet tall and couldn't barely break 92 MPH with his fastball. It's not like we gave away the next Randy Johnson here.
  22. I just don't buy that. We quite a few defensive holes on this team. However the middle infield isn't one of them. Yes we wanted a good defensive player in order to make Uribe a utility man but to say that it was the main reason isn't accurate. If it wasn't for his numbers with the bat last year we would have never gave him a second look.
  23. I'm suprised he did as good as he did considering he was benched when he was hot in order to let Jose Valentin back in the lineup because Ozzie had to choose between Uribe or Harris. :puke
