Bringing Borchard up will neither help the Sox or himself. Sure, he'll hit some homers here and there, but the truth is, he needs more seasoning. I'd hate to see one of our best prospects get his career ruined by rushing him.
He's striking out way too much and isn't hitting near where he should be. He needs to get it together soon. If he's struggling in the minors, what makes you think he'll do well against major league pitching?
Borchard is not the answer. No one is the answer in center field, but I'd just hate to see Joe's career go right down the drain. I say give him at least 2 more years in AAA.
So are you guys liking WilliE8 better than Aaron? Now do you guys believe that a second baseman cant play outfield? Do you realize that speed does not help if you cant get on base?
BTw, Post #1000
RPS, thats exactly what I wanted to say. Everyone's complaining how the Sox need to run more, but the fact is, they don't have that speedy, smallball makeup as a club. Part of that blame has to go to KW, when is he gonna realize that speed is a huge part of baseball?
Stop confusing our poor posters :finger
SOX COMEBACK WIN 4-3
MARTE THE SAVE
Now they have already met my prediction of 2-4, hopefully go for the series win tomorrow
This is the first comeback I remember in quite a while
Roberts would be the ideal leadoff man for us, but Roberts is probably the last guy that the Dodgers are willing to give up. They're in a BIG offensive slump, but their pitching is the best in major leagues. Trust me, they can give up more pitching than offense right now. Roberts is the only guy on that team thats hitting near .300
And baggs, you're not suggesting that the Tigers will be in 1st or 2nd place, are you?
KW's made some very bold moves in attemp to make us better. If I remember correctly, hes the only GM in Sox history to acquire a pitcher that came off of a 20-game-winning season. And he did it twice, with David Wells in 2001 and Bartolo Colon in 2003. I respect him for that, he didn't just sit back and relax during the offseason like many others did.
If he stops messing with the managerial duties, I'd say hes a pretty good GM. Maybe a very bad evaluator of player talent, but he does try to get us a winner.
Half of what Rowand hit? That is saying a lot, and it's saying way too much. That's blown out of proportion cuz Rowand is ridiculously terrible at the plate, you can't be twice as bad as that.
You wanna bet?
I have said and will say again that no way is WIllie going to hit half of what Aaron did. (And thats saying alot). He could be a decent pinch hitter/runner from time to time though. He can get a bunt down when we really need it and provide speed from the bench.
We just need to get ourselves a REAL centerfielder soon.
Oh JM will never turn down the chance to tinker How about:
Konerko (the Speedster!)
Crede
Harris
Olivo
Jimenez
Valentin
Lee
Thomas
Ordonez
Think that'll work?
I'm not sure I'd pick up a guy like Everett that has ANY kind reputation of being a clubhouse cancer. We have enough guys like that already. Everett's hot right now, but like many of you said, he's very injury prone. I wouldn't give up a guy with promising future like Garland for this old guy that won't stick around for long.
But as for Ponson, I really like this kid. I like his stuff and I believe he was one of the highest ranked prospects for the Orioles. I also heard that he was crowned a prince or knight or something like that a week ago.
And Jason, Kotsay for Lee is just too much wishful thinking.
