  1. Why with this strategy? Just sign Machado, then focus on signing Harper properly without any ultimatums. White Sox should get both and I think it's realistic that they do. Now, if they get Machado and not Harper than there's a few ways they can go of course. Our OF still sucks. Eloy is the only real piece. Jay is fine. Signing Pollock would make sense then. I'd be cool with that. Bullpen is kinda set right now. Sure it'd be *nice* to get another piece, but I think that the W'Sox feel it's safe.
  2. Would love to get into AEW if they had some sort of consistency and i knew when to stream them... i know nothing of this.. seems like the first big day is around May 25th.
  3. The white sox have next to no salary commitments. They need a 3b. Machado's successful track record and great defensive abilities makes this a slam dunk. He's only 26. Don't doubt it. There's nothing to doubt. This is a must-make move for the club. We need Machado more than any other club out there, by far.
  4. No. There is no 'miss.' It's we have Machado, or Rick Hahn is a fucking dumbass and this team is a joke.
  5. It's pretty easy logic, folks. If Manny Machado signs with the White Sox, all is good in the hood. If Manny Machado doesn't sign with the White Sox, I'm (and you should as well) joining another team/giving up on MLB. So, don't get all stressed, just assume Manny Machado is already a White Sock and life will work it self out.
  6. You guys need to calm your tits! Just go with the flow, I've been near 90% confident this entire offseason that we were going to get one of Machado and Harper and I'm 50% confident will get both. Now I'm 99% confident Machado signs with us. If he doesn't, I'll blame Hahn and riot.
  7. Sure, but we will have a loaded line up with the addition of Harper/Machado/Eloy. I want Harper in the 2 hole, Machado in the 3 hole, and Eloy in the 5 hole. Abreu logically fits in at the 4th hole. That leaves #1 up to Moncada or Jay. I'd go Moncada as he is the much more versatile hitter. He should beat Jay in about every statistical category this year assuming advancements are made.
  8. Sure, but Moncada will have much higher speed, much more home runs, and just an overall better bat. You want that at the top of the line up soaking up the amount of at bats compared to Jay. Plus, Moncada needs the AB's for the future, he could blow up -- Jay ain't going anywhere but down.
  9. For line up construction, I would sent Jay down to #9 and move everyone else up 1. Goal should be able to get high OBP machines like Moncada/Harper most at bats and Machado/Eloy in the 3 and 5 holes. At the 6th spot, Eloy would lose a decent amount of at bats and run producing opportunities. Jay is a very serviceable #9 hitter with his high OBP.
  10. Your assumption is slightly wrong. I don't expect the White Sox to be able to compete. That's unrealistic. My stance in this thread was more: Jon Jay is another boring, meh player picked up by the W'Sox to 'Woo' Machado to our team. I'm not a fan of this strategy, I think it's pretty lame for a professional organization to add friends and family of a star player to get him to sign with them. With this being said, posters have made good points on Jay and I've learned a little about him. He likely figures to be our best OF'r, but as Greg put it well, it's still Jon Jay. The optimism in this thread is rather strange. Without Machado, would we still be happy about signing Jon Jay (a 34 year old)?
  11. For the record, I never doubted your sources... I was upset with the way you went about it. Publicly saying "Hey look at me, I know something, but hey guys, I can't tell you!!!" That screamed attention whore. But, glad to see you were on point.
  12. To me, this isn't a good argument FOR Jon Jay. Just because Jon Jay is a shinier turd than the shit that we have doesn't make this a move that 'the team needs'. A better GM could have played the market and found a different option/ been more creative. Don't fool yourselves, this is purely for Machado.
  13. His OBP is nice, I like that in a player (one of the reasons I'm very critical of Tim Anderson). However this whole story being thrown around that he's all the sudden our best OF and we should be happy about it is a joke. This is a 34 year old who has produced next to nothing in his at bats. His OBP is nice and I think his defense is at least good. Sure, technically he might be our best OF. However let's not throw a parade in this thread because he's 0.2 better in WAR over Engel. I'll be rooting for him to succeed, tho.
  14. Money is the deciding factor, grabbing his league average buddies shouldn't be. W'Sox need to put on their big boy pants, offer him a respectable contract (and not pocket the surplus money from a team with such low player salaries) and they have him.
  15. Welp, you sold me -- let's collect dog shit so that we attract a real prize. Seriously tho -- I'm cool with it if it nets us the big dog... I hate the strategy of it tho.... you don't see a team like the Yankees pulling this to get Machado. This is clown-style strategy. This will be my last negative post here. Let's go GET MACHADO!
  16. When talking about a player like Jon Jay you could probably trade for a better CF and cost us next to nothing.
  17. As long as we are still in on Harper or even someone like Pollock in addition to Machado... I'm fine, -- whatever -- add all of Machado's friends who just happen to be poor ball players. I'm not saying this is a game breaking roster move of course, I'm just saying I don't like the move and don't see the point in it outside of signing Machado.
  18. To me it's wasted money and a wasted roster spot. There's significantly better options out there. I'm not critical point upset -- if we get Manny, I'll see how the roster plays out, but i'm worried that moves like this puts us out on other potential FA's.
  19. You are a Moderator Emeritus here, trying sticking to the topic at hand and not spamming the thread.
  20. People are saying Jay is better than Engel... last year Engel had 0.6 WAR, Jay had 0.8. "better". Yeah... this is what we're going for... Jay's age 34, this guy isn't going to do anything.
  21. I'm reading his NL battling line, apologies. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/jayjo02.shtml Point still stands - he blows.
  22. The two segments on tonights Raw that needed to deliver both universally failed. 1) Lesnar and Strowman's confrontation lead to Strowman looking like an idiot and Lesnar looking lazy. Neither superstar benefited from this. 2) The moment of bliss segment was short and useless. Ronda had sub 3 lines of talking and random-out-of-nowhere proclaimed Sasha Banks as the best woman on the roster over Charlotte and Becky. Absolute nonsense there. Love seeing Banks pushed, but CONSISTENCY PLZ I BEG THEE. This led to a nia jax vs banks match to see who fights Ronda? At this point we are just feeding souls to Ronda to devour to keep her over until Wrestlemania. Faill
  23. We've added: Alex Colome, Kelvin Herrea, Jon Jay, Ivan Nova, James McCann, Yonder Alonso.... What an off season of shit so far. Couldn't get a more broken, average (or below) group.
