  1. Brock fucking sucks and is ultimately damaging to the product, but there's no denying his skill set. Anyway, I predicted essentially everything right (sans the Nakamura vs. Rusev match, but who cares -- haven't watched them in months). The first half of the show was simply phenomenal. The latter half had hits or misses. Biggest miss was Bryan vs. AJ. These 'dream' matches are over. AJ is no longer an instant classic wrestler. He has failed with Bryan, Naka, Owens, Joe. Biggest hits were the woman's Title matches, although while the 'Becky Lynch Story' is quite awesome right now, I think WWE risks losing 'it' with her by overexposure. Having her in the title match and winning the rumble match like that is not a success IMO. The rumble matches were hurt by no believable competitors. On the woman's I correctly called Charlotte or Lynch with Lynch as the favorite. On the men, I correctly called Rollins with Strowman second. Second year in a row I get both rumbles 100% accurate. Sad. Anyway, a good event.
  2. Seems like a defeatist attitude. Payroll is so low and inflation will allow White Sox to break that 128M by quite a bit. Market is low on Harper/Machado, now would be a great time to strike for both of them. You shouldn't be so quick to let the front office pocket the money. Let's see results.
  3. How'd you guys like NXT Takeover? That Ricochet / Gargano match was simply superb, amazing. The main event was solid and I felt the Tag match and women's match was good as well. Overall, nothing flashy/spectacular, just another great NXT Takeover event. Now it's RR time. Predictions: Rusev vs. Naka : Give it to Rusev, I guess Cruiserweights: Don't know, but to be complete: Buddy Murphy SD Tag titles: Going Shane+Miz SD Womens: Asuka retains by hook or crook. Likely DQ ending of sorts. Raw Womens: Ronda easily retains Raw Mens: Brock easily retains SD Mens: Going with Daniel Bryan, but somewhat unpredictable here Mens RR: Gotta be down to Rollins or Strowman. I'm thinking I'll pick Rollins W RR: Charlotte or Lynch or both??? Hm.. Going with Lynch as that seems to be the story. Most looking forward to: Hopefully seeing Velveteen dream in the RR!!
  4. Yup, at this point -- I don't believe a damn thing anyone posts. I will, however, believe that the FO is a bunch of jackasses if they miss out on Machado and the reason turns out to be because they didn't go bigger in terms of $$. That is an unforgivable sin at this stage and one that would eliminate me from this fan base.
  5. Hawk Sucks and I don't miss him one bit. His commentary was like nails on a chalkboard any time he tried to analyze a player or 'tell a story'.
  6. No, the nationals are no longer there. They are out and their old offer is off the table after they've made numerous moves since. Phillies are the only market with an off chance that the White Sox are in hard.
  7. No. Why would we trade Rutherford and Bummer for a 2 year player in Pederson? It's not our time yet and this trade doesn't make sense. Not on board.
  8. Honestly, pretty stupid tweet. That's comparing apples and oranges. One player is currently 26 and signing him to a 10 year deal with an insane AAV of 30 million provides extreme risk at the back end of the deal. The other players are already performing at age 30 season and taking a significantly smaller AAV to get it done.
  9. Obviously great price here, but this should 100% gurantee Dodgers won't be in play for Harper so that's good as expected.
  10. I'm not as optimistic on the men's Royal Rumble as I was before. First, both titles are not really in flow.. We got Lesnar which I've already pointed out multiple times and we got the Bryan/Styles situation which is great on it's own, but Styles shouldn't win so what face can fight Bryan? There isn't any worthwhile right now. The men's rumble really has no one I want to see win other than __surprise candidate___. Rollins? No, fuck him he's dulled down. Ambrose? Hell no. McIntyre - again, completely dulled out. Really, I have no idea who should win and in this particular case that's a bad thing since there's no one credible. Strowman? To set up a Brock vs Braun at WM? I guess that makes sense, but it would be boring AF. Last year I wanted and expected Shinsuke Nakumara to win and he did end up winning. This year? I don't know.
  11. Brock Lesnar has to go. That guy is fucking cancer to the product right now. Every single time he is on Raw we are guranteed that a) he's not going to compete, and b) Heyman will say the same shit as always and c) the competitor will come out and make his case why he will beat Lesnar. It's completely redundant and awful. I like Strowman and I am a huge fan of Finn, and there was even Vince McMahon out there today yet that opening segment SUCKED. It just served as a reminder on how bad Lesnar has been to the overall product on Raw. Get him gone and with Reigns gone, we could finally see a good product as it will stabilize everything else.
  12. Absolutely. At least in early January and mid December we had tons of fiesty rumors, Dan Clarke, and peavy44. Now it's the calm before the storm. It sucks. Dec/Jan has conditioned my mind/body to check this thread 15 times per hour and i continue to do it but no new updates now.
  13. I think the biggest takeaway from that post is the 3.5 WAR players. We have 0, while Dodgers/Red Sox had 6 and Astros at 5. Those types of players don't grow on trees like 1.0 WAR players do.
  14. I guess by just offering a respectable offer that is close to or at the expected price that drove away all the mystery teams.
  15. I don't think you can look too much into it. Batting 8th --> Well that's actually the worst spot in the order to bat since the opposing pitcher can do whatever he wants to the hitter since the pitcher is on deck and is an easy out. Batting 1st is a completely different situation. Have the best boppers on deck, getting more at bats, trying to set the table.
  16. Missed calls and bad referee-ing seems to be the story of the weekend. Is the controversy of how brutal the NFL is and how the league reacted by creating all these rules creating a game that is impossible to referee? It seems every detail is important. For instance, in the 4th quarter there was a roughing the passer call against the chiefs on tom brady that clearly wasn't the right call, however, in this day and age, refs must do everything they can to protect the players and called it. What do you think?
  17. If I recall, last year's Royal Rumble was the best event the main roster put on all year.
  18. I have to imagine they would for sure. Their trying to win, and while I don't know their infield situation, I don't think they have a legit 1b / or they could easily make room meanwhile their Joc is the odd man out in the OF. As for us, I don't think it makes sense.
  19. I have no knowledge of the financials for the Dodgers, but I'd imagine that they'd bundle up a pricey Rich Hill with Pederson for a salary dump to make room for Pollock (consider the pollock rumors yesterday).
  20. I'm disapointed that Hill isn't part of the trade. If this was a salary dump + we got pederson it makes a good deal of sense. If it's just a trade for pederson I'm expecting we will have to give up something more, in that case, I have no logical reason why the W'sox want to do the trade unless their just giving up bummer/fulmer or something.
  21. I will be very upset if there's anything of true value going back to the Dodgers here. We have no reason to trade for Joc... he's a FA in 2 years (we aren't going to realistically compete this year), we have a to nof OFrs coming up in the future and actually right now. I also want us to go for Harper (even tho, un realistic). Sure, I'd love Joc on the team, a young guy that hits the hell out of the ball. But his flaws are enormous. If we are also taking on Hill's Salary it should basically be Pederson+Hill for free, which I think makes a lot of sense for both sides considering the Dodgers can then easily sign Pollock which is a great move for them.
  22. That's pretty dope! RR's are always a blast and this years card looks pretty awesome. Takeover's are spectacular too. Styles/Bryan Asuka/Lynch Banks/Ronda RR MEN RR WOMEN Even Balor/Brock Shane/Miz vs. Bar Are all matches that im excited for. the fatal 4 cruiserweight should be good. Rusev/Naka while kinda boring might be fun.
  23. Joc Pederson??? I don't know if I should be happy or upset. Seems like the type of HR or nothing guy? I hear good defense?
  24. Yup, wouldn't take anything WSD says with credibility.
  25. I think the Rockies will extend or re-sign Arenado. I think there is a high chance of this.
