  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) not all steals are off the dribble. AI probably loses the ball half the time on bad passes. Whoever is guarding him has nothing to do with those bad passes either. He turns the ball over way too much as does hamilton and wade. Really makes no sense that hamilton has that many turnovers considering he is not the primary ball handler.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) AI had 4.6 TO's a game this season FWIW. Exactly. What is more impressive, getting iverson to turn the ball over five, six, seven times or get damon jones/chucky atkins to turn it over four or five times? Which is more likely to happen?
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) They don't have Vizquel and Lawton to get on base at the top of the order. Jody Gerut and Juan-Gone are on the DL. Also, Coco Crisp isn't hitting like he did last season. This season, he has only killed us. Oh yeah, and Aaron Boone SUCKS. Victor martinez has been raking the ball too.
  4. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) Actually the pitching was upgraded when they went down. The pitching in the second half should have been better than the 1st half pitching. Let's just say, last year made no sense. I still don't understand how we got 242 HRS. Which I think is 5 th best in mlb history? Sox had an era of 4.59 in the first half. Sox had an era of 5.26 in the second half. The sox are actually tied for 6th all time homeruns in one season.
  5. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) If he got 40 mins which ain't gonna happen. Point is seven steals off of practically anyone but iverson is really impressive. Stealing seven off of iverson is like four from a good ball handler.
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) it hurt our offense last year when maggs and frank went down. remember those twin killings in april last year? sox scored double digets so many times with those 2 together. We scored plenty of runs while they were out. I think we should blame it on the overall team era first and foremost, i mean it was nearly five. Can't really expect to win enough games to get into the playoffs with s***ty pitching like that.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) Nelson's going to be a good player though if he isn't one already. He might not be tall enough to consistently be a starting PG, but I can easily see him winning a few 6th man awards in his career. Excellent stealer as well, had like 7 on AI in 1 game. Oh and as if I didn't hate the Cubune enough, i do NOW; :fyou Pargo could steal four or five off of iverson.
  8. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) it hurt our offense last year when maggs and frank went down. remember those twin killings in april last year? sox scored double digets so many times with those 2 together. Sox ranked third is runs scored last year and tied for the league leading amount of homeruns with the yankees (242). Which by the way was a franchise record for the white sox. I wouldn't say we struggled much.
  9. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) LOL KW would have extra duties then I heard he is allergic to dogs.
  10. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) Like I said if he is picked up at the AS break , half his salary is off the books. JR's team is off to the best start in Franchise history. He has a team that can go far, very far. A few million is what seperates him from the WS? I dont think that's an issue. I Know everything their is to know about Eric Chavez. I did not need your scouting report. I am sorry if I feel we have enough talent in our system to get him. We may get raped, but We have enough. Crede, Bmacc, Sweeney, the list goes on. I love our system. But if that seperates us from the ultimate goal you go for it. His salary would not be off the books for the next four years. He averages 11 million a year, that is not what i would consider '' a few million'' Adding chavez is would be a bad idea unless we dumped another huge salary else where ( which is doubtful).
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) I know the value he has in chavez. But when you put a deal on the table that is White sox trade package > chavez then you have to listen. If a gm asked Beane what would it take to get Chavez, would he really say he is untouchable? That means their is no trade beane would listen to, even if the A's are coming on top 10 fold? Joe crede b-mac and one of anderson/sweeney and i am not even kidding when saying that.
  12. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) No, its not. At the right price he can be had. Do you really think we don't have enough to offer? First off we are not gonna add that much payoll. Two three million is the most i can realistically see. You really think the a's are gonna pick up any of his salary? How many third baseman do you know that have won four gold gloves in their whole career let alone by the age of 27? He is also left handed which is always an added bonus. Did i mention he is a three hole hitter? He hasn't even entered his prime yet... he isn't going any where any time soon.
  13. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) point taken, the a's are a small market team though, so if they had a chance to load up with even more young guys they may just do it... his contract may be 5 years, but they may not have a contending team for 5 years. I say when you re-build go all out. They will be playoff contenders at the very most two years. They are stacked even though some people don't want to believe it.
  14. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) I thought the same with mulder and hudson. he can be had. Difference is they were in the last year of their contracts and the a's wanted something for them in return. Chavez has five years left remaining on his contract. Unless they get blown the f*** away it is not gonna happen.
  15. Griffey? Horrible thought, (vinny castilla). Chavez? Not going anywhere anytime soon.
  16. QUOTE(Spiff @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) And oh by the way, who's calling Antoine value-less now? 13 of 22 in 4th/OT. I'd rather have him than Jermaine-I-shut-down-in-the-clutch-O'Neal. f***in retards. Lolerz. You cannot be f***ing serious? Oneal>>> walker. End of story.
  17. QUOTE(Bighurt52235 @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) I've been wondering. What exactly does pwn3d mean (I know it means "owned", but what's the difference) and how did it start? Every time I read that word I :puke 1. An act of dominating an opponent. 2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects. Originally dates back to the days of WarCraft, when a map designer mispelled "Own" as "Pwn". What was originally supose to be "player has been owned." was "player has been pwned". Pwn eventually grew from there and is now used throughout the online world, especially in online games. 1. "I pwn these guys on battlenet" 2. "This strategy pwns!" or "This game pwn."
  18. Just wait until the yankees when 15 out of 18 at some point this year. It is just bound to happen.
  19. All i would like to say she was not getting ''slammed'' it was little out take from some wrestling thing.
  20. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 5, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) I disagree. WHen you are a superstar you can't get yourself thrown out in a key spot. The oldest trick in the books in the playoffs is to try to get under the skin of a star player and get him to hit you. Pierce was stupid enough to fall for Tinsely's trick. Pretty shocking considering pierce falls under the super star treatment of if you cough or sneeze by him it is a foul. He is basically a god in the refs eyes.
  21. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Garland hopefully will be resigned for less than $7mil per year. Contreras most likely will be out unless he is willing to take a considerable pay cut, and McCarthy would take his place. SB We are trading contreras i take it?
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Jeremy Garcia?!?!? Exactly why there is no use to get excited over what they say, in my opinion anyway.
  23. QUOTE(Ballpark Frank - Big Hurt @ May 5, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) We are doing an exceptional job so far this season, and because of it the nation is starting to take notice. Is there anything wrong with enjoying this well-overdue national attention? Embrace the moment..!! There has probally been one thread that was baseball tonight related every day of the year ( every game of the season). It was always people that we were not getting enough attention. When they did mention us and didn't say we are the best team of all time people still b**** and complain, i just do not get it. Realistically it is pretty hard to fit high lights from every gane in while doing two or three other segments in between. What white sox fan watches the show to learn something new about the white sox? I surely don't. I watch it to see the highlights.
  24. We really do need a seprate forum for baseball tonight and attendance threads.:headshake
