  1. Talking about money ball book, hawk would be pissed.
  2. QUOTE(Spiff @ May 4, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) Yeah, ok. Way to counter my argument with nothing. First and foremost he is not a ball hog that takes bad shots. No way. Not overpaid, plays defensive player of the year caliber defense, shoots high ass f*** percentage from both the line and the field in general. Walker is an awesome team player. Is that what you want me to say? Everything has already been said that can said. You think if anyone reiterates it for you that you will suddenly believe it is true? If you don't want to believe it that's ok, 97% of basketball fans think so too. Not like i am making anything up, so i am not gonna lose sleep over it.

  8. Another day another basball tonight thread... almost never fails.
  9. QUOTE(Spiff @ May 4, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) See I knew you would say that he chucks a lot of threes, when it's not really true anymore. He only took 3-3's a game with Boston this year, which is way down from what he used to. Antoine is a much different player than he used to be, but you don't know that because you just go off of what other people say, without actually observing things first-hand. He crashes the offensive boards, he finds cutting teammates, he does a lot of the little things. But since you DON'T observe him first-hand, you wouldn't know that. Therefore, your statements are baseless. We can debate the merits of his game all day but the fact is that he wants the team to win badly. You really have no idea what you are talking about. Really time to bust out this little guy... You like him and you are very, very, biased towards him, i get it.
  10. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ May 4, 2005 -> 05:53 AM) And where did you come up with the $65 mil? I had always known it to end up closer to $70-71 mil Give or take a million it was within 65. I actually believe $64,615,141 is the most accurate. http://www.athleticsnation.com/story/2004/12/27/201439/06 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1778397 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/base....comparison.ap/
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ May 4, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) I know that you are wasting a lot of Soxtalk's image holding space. Jason said it did not matter when i asked him...
  12. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ May 4, 2005 -> 05:45 AM) I come up with $81,987,500 for last yr(salaries are at bottom of page): http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/2004.shtml Are you saying our payroll is about $92 mil right now? The sox are at $75,228,000 this year. Last year it was $65,212,500.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 4, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) Relax and let them talk. We know Rowand will be fine. I think he will be solid but no where close to what he did last year.
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 3, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) All of George Forman's sons are named George Jr. There are at least three. Our lacrosse team played theirs once. Ten kids, five boys named george and the girls names are michi, freeda, georgetta, natalie, and leola.
  15. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ May 3, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) Lopez is already up because of Gload being put on the DL, so what's wrong with bringin up JB?? Nothing if he didn't suck.
  16. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) I love Mark, but there is no way he should rank higher than Sheets, Zambrano, Peavy, Beckett, and Prior. I noticed that the cut-off point is 26 years of age. Extending it to 27 would have been smart, what with Roy Oswalt, Roy Halladay, Mark Mulder, and Odalis Perez. Cliff Lee? That's pretty funny. How are you gonna put that guy ahead of people like Brad Penny, Joel Pineiro, Zack Greinke, and even some of the new jacks like Scott Kazmir, Gustavo Chacin, and Dan Haren? #14 Overall Brett Myers had a 5.50 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP last year. I don't care how home run happy Citizens Bank Park is. He had a 5.33 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP on the road. He's got a ton of potential, but he ain't no Top 15. Sheets had an era+ of over 100 zero times up until last year. Buehrle has done it every year of his career. Better career era than peavy ( who i admit is f***ing awesome to watch pitch and should be very very high on this list.) and also higher than beckett. Zambrano is not liked much by white sox fans because he is on the cubs and the fact he is crazy, but he is the best pitcher in chicago if used properly. Perez has a career 102 era+ because a 4.00 career era @ dodgers stadium is not overly impressive at all. He is also very inconsistent. You don't know what you are gonna get from him year in year out. Penny has not been overally impressive throughout his career but i think we will see him in the 3.30 era range this year ( if healthy). Pineiro also needs to stay healthy because if he does he is at the very top of the list of ''young pitchers'' Grienke not being on the list is moronic.
  17. QUOTE(IndySoxFan @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) ok, if I remember correctly.... the sox gave this guy a chance. They played him although he was playing terrible. And if I remember right, just as he was getting better, he quit. I dont recall the exact details, but it cheesed me off on this guy. Only my opinion
  18. Well he does have to wear a duck, that has to piss you off.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) qwerty I'm looking for you to help me out with this one, how much did payroll go up from this year to last, about 10 mil? Almost ten million exactly. We are currently 13th i believe in pay roll.
  20. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) I, for one, couldn't care less about those guys. Our team was made better by the loss of them. We are the best team in the league. Carlos, mags, valentin = Pods, Contreras, Duque, Gooch, Vicaino Good luck to carlos and jose Mags can screw himself. Loaiza was traded for contreras and we also picked up pierz.
