  1. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) Your telling me if you we're a GM, and you had a guy come back from possibly career ending Tommy John surgury, you put him in the pen and he had a ton of success. You'd move him back to the rotation? I'm not saying he's a bad starter. I just think he'd be more valuable to the Cubs in their pen (as they don't have anyone who can do s*** in their now besides Hawkins and he pisses his pants when you put him in the closers role). Yes, i would put him back in the rotation. He is more valuable in the rotation rather than the pen whether you like to believe it or not. I would keep him in the pen for a while, but long term? Hell no. Especially at the age he had the injury, he was so young, so i may keep in the pen for a whole year to make sure his arm strength is at 100%.
  2. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) My point is any other team would of put him in the pen after his Tommy John surgury or after his habit of barely being able to get out of the 6th inning without having to throw 120 pitches came out. No team would have put him in the bullpen and kept him there. Not one team.

QUOTE(Winnin' Ugly @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) I don't know much about Iguchi, plenty of posters on here seem pretty excited about getting him. But can he play shortstop? With the team as it is right now I can count 1 player who we can use at SS. If Iguchi can't(which I believe I've read on here that he doesn't any more) then is he really an option for us to pick up? Uribe is going to need days off sometime. He can no longer play short due to an injury in his right shoulder. But he has been a gold glove 2nd baseman in japan
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) I'm just passing along information. I know, i just don't think that his arm was any better before the 2004 season than it was after the 2004 season. It has always sucked, but he more than makes up for it with bat, calling games, and blocking the plate as good as any other catcher in the game, etc.
  5. The part where it says he has an above average arm is kinda humorous in my opinion. He has a pretty weak arm whenever i see him.

  8. QUOTE(GreenSox @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Yes I 've seen him play - have you???? have you seen him throw? You do know he can't call pitches either, right? We invest all this money in starters, only to put an AJ behind the plate? I certainly hope not. He does have a bad arm i will give you that. But the only pitchers i have ever heard having a problem with him are schmidt and tomko. I always hear how good he is at calling games so i do not know what you are talking about. His fielding percentage and cera is always top in the mlb so apparently he is not as bad of a catcher as he is made out to be. Can you name three to five other catchers that can blocks balls in the dirt as well as him? I doubt it.
  9. QUOTE(GreenSox @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Catcher is the one position in which defense is more important than offense. AJ's D is atrocious and his O, frankly, is marginal (lousy OBP and no power - what more would you want from a mediocre hitter)? Atrocious? Have you ever seen him play?
  10. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Mohr is a free agent. Who are you his agent? How do you know he will be making 950k next season? :rolly Or maybe this. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6789 http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/rock...3428918,00.html
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) what is this clutch you speak of? should Timo Perez be more valuable to this team than Paul Konerko because he had a better batting average with runners in scoring position? Give me a break. Timo Perez is a reserve outfielder and a pinch hitter. When your OPS is in the low .400's as a pinch hitter you are not doing your job and therefore don't deserve a raise nor one million dollars when a guy like Dustan Mohr can be had for half the cost thus allowing for more flexibility to sign Pierzynski. Mohr wanted to go wherever he would get a good amount of playing time and that was not here. Also how would he have signed for half the price of what timo is making? Mohr is gonna be making $ 950,000, timo one million.
  12. I like this stat of the day from baseball prospectus. Player Team EqA PECOTA Projected VORP VORP Joe Borchard CHA .202 11.1 -11.0 Timo Perez CHA .220 4.2 -8.3 Brian Jordan TEX .216 6.4 -7.0 Abraham Nunez KCA .224 1.9 -4.0 Darnell McDonald BAL .120 2.2 -3.5

  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Disagree, I think if Everett plays well with Frank gone then when Frank comes back and if he plays well, then the Sox have an affordable player in Everett who another team in it could want in a deal where the Sox could fill another need, potentially. Who does that leave as our fourth and fifth outfielders? Timo, escobar, or borchard, me no likey. Even if it costs a little more i like having that much depth and i hope the white sox do too.
  15. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Offensively, yes. But he's pretty good on the boards and a hell of a shot blocker. Every team needs these things, especially one that really doesn't have another player that can do either. I've kinda given up on him as a starter, but he's a good player to have coming off the bench. There really is no reason though that he cannot develope a consistent 15 foot jumper and average 12 points per game and around 12-14 rebounds if he started. His problem is when he starts he does not seem to be as pumped up and commits stupid ass fouls. Edit: Why did you delete your post. Or am i blind?
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Bulls have zero low post game without Eddy Curry. One thing they'll have to find sometime this year or next year is another low post player, imo. ... and that player is ilgauakas who may not be returning to the cavs next year. I know alot of pe ople are worried about his knees, but right now, they are as good as they ever will be. He is a fairly good passer, good shot blocker and has some pretty good range for a big man. I know alot of people would like redd/allen but gordon can possibly be putting up their type of numbers in a couple years if not next year.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) is it me or does chandler get picked on by the refs more than anyone else.... a lot of times he makes good plays on defense and refs tag him with a foul.. I mean i know fans love offense but im sick of all the advantages you get on offense I don't know why but i watch basketball daily and i think it is trash.
  18. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) I'll disagree with you on this one. McCarthy is nothing yet, and who knows if he ever will be. I hope he is, but we haven't really had much luck with top pitching prospects since I have been alive. If we could get Vasquez for Garland, McCarthy, and another prospect that isn't big time, I would do it in a second. You would be less than happy with the numbers he would put up here. One of the very best hitting parks in all of baseball. He would hover around a five era in my opinion. Which we could get from garland ( who by the way i am not really a fan of) for much less money.
  19. QUOTE(A.J. @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) Carl Might be trade bait at midseason when Frank come's back, I only see that happening if the sox are out of it honestly.
  20. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) I have heard the price for Vasquez has severely dropped from the original talks of Konerko and Garland. The O's offer seems to be centered on their young pitching stud prospect. How many of you would be willing to deal Garland, McCarthy, and another prospect for Vasquez ? No one that has half a brain.
  21. 51-41 bulls lead with 7:46 left in the 3rd. I want to see some more of gordon now.
  22. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Dec 31, 2004 -> 10:46 PM) If Wood was on any other team in baseball he would of been but in the bullpen by now. The cubs can't though because they have two much hype surrounding him. It's all well and good to dominate but when your pitching over a hundred pitches usually by the 5th inning then your not going to win too many games. Yes I admit that Maddux is a rock. We'll see how Prior does when he comes back for injury. I would take our rotation over theirs. So you are saying that if he was on a team not as good as the cubs he would be in the pen? That makes no sense at all. You have an odd sense of humor.
