QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) I believe in the past for the play-in game, it wasn't recognized as a part of the NCAA tournament - players who only played in that game didn't get the same stuff and whatever as the other teams. This is unfortunately the 1st round now. ESPN ran a stupid headline of the first #16 seed winning in the tournament yesterday when they beat the other #16 seed . However, if this format remains, it's always going to be the play-in games for me. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) Big 12 and UNC, HOMER. If it makes you feel any better my picks are usually horrible. I just can't bring myself to ever pick Duke.
-
I have a Big 12 flavored final four and didn't even realize it until I was staring at my picks. Elite 8: UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, Notre Dame, Texas, UConn, Kansas State, Florida Final 4: UNC, KU Texas, Kansas State Championship: Texas vs KU, KU wins again The lowest seed I have making the Sweet 16 is two Big East #6 seeds in Georgetown and St. Johns. Pretty bland this year.

Might as well rename this tournament the Virginia Tech Invitational. Seth Greenburg's reactions are always fantastic.

How the hell do you pick UAB over Colorado? -
Looks like Pitt will get the cupcake bracket. I'm guessing Florida as the two, and BYU as the three.
-
Not a cupcake walk for Duke like I figured. San Diego State, Texas, and UConn could all take them out.
-
Well we found the toughest bracket already. I bet Duke gets a cakewalk as usual.

Good luck to the tourney committee figuring out the #1 seeds if UNC, BYU, Texas, and Florida win their tournaments. -

Anyone still question Harrison Barnes? He's an absolute superstar. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) CBS College Sports (613 on dish) This Penn St/Wisconsin game is painful Most on the board won't like this, but it's painful for me to watch 90% of the Big 10 games. However, Wisconsin takes the cake for unwatchable basketball for me. Then again the ACC has been awful this year as well. -

I disagree with this draft being anything worse than average. I think it compares very favorably to last years class. 2010: Wall Turner Favors Johnson Cousins Udoh Aminu Monroe Hayward 2011: Barnes Irving Kanter Derrick Williams Sullinger Perry Jones Motiejunas Vesely Terrance Jones Wall is clearly the best player from either class coming out, but from there I think you would be hard pressed to say the 2010 class has more long-term potential than the 2011 class if many of these freshman come out. Others like Kemba Walker, Alec Burks, Tristan Thompson, Jordan Hamilton, Brandon Knight etc could easily be on the list. They will be long-time NBA players. I think the main gripe is that you only have one legit PG and one legit C prospect that seem to be future all-stars in Irving, and Kanter. However, the 2,3, and 4 positions seem to be well stocked. I haven't seen the foreign guys play, but it seems Jonas Valanciunas would be a legit center if he came out as well. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 07:18 AM) It is also interesting to hear that some major violations were happening at Youngstown State that Tressel missed out on after he left for the Buckeyes. Tressel the Calipari of college football? I had Lane Kiffin pegged for that role. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Nkeruwem Okoro, Daniel Dingle and Peter Jok. I meant coaches, not Dingle's and Jok's. Save those dreams for night time But seriously, it looks like Tech will have the basement to themselves next year. But it will be fun to watch. -

Got my basketball wish today with Pat Knight fired. Hopefully you other guys will get your wishes soon as well. -
Heat won't be winning anything in the playoffs until Spoelstra is fired.
-
Bosh 1-21 now in his last 5 quarters. I can't stand that dude. He belongs in the WNBA.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) Miami's lack of inside presence is going to be their downfall. Every team is going to shoot bad, but if you can win on the glass get second chance points you can overcome a crappy offensive night. Bulls had 13 offensive rebounds to the Heats 6. Thats 7 more times the Bulls got a second chance and in a 4 point game, 7 extra possessions is an incredible advantage. Rebounding isn't going to be that big of an issue. Coming into the night the Heat were averaging 43.1 rpg to the Bulls 43.9 rpg. Haslem coming back will be a major boost as he is their best rebounder. Both teams are top 10 rebounders, and the Heat out rebounded the #2 Indiana Pacers 50-45 a few games ago. Bulls are a really good team, the playoffs are going to be tremendous. The Heat are going to be fine, they are 32-8 in their last 40. Can't wait for the playoffs.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) Bosh is 1 for 18. Probably his worst shooting night in his entire career I'd say. Bosh 1 for 18, bench 1 for 8, and lose by 4 in Chicago. Heat have to feel pretty good.

Coach K gets a T, and then GT gets 5 straight fouls called on them. Shocking. -

BC shot 26.9% from the floor and was a rimmed out 3 from beating UNC. Ugliest game I have ever seen. -
I would personally take Harris and Favors long-term over Anthony and Billups, I think this deal is absurd. Then again I never have cared much for Anthony. He will certainly sell tickets, but I just don't see many more wins coming their way.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) Palehose, I'm a big fan of Williams, but his game doesn't translate well to the NBA level right now. Thompson's wing span is insane, which should boost him up the ranks. Also, I thought I heard Kanter might stay another year at Kentucky. Williams isn't your prototypical long, jump out of the gym type PF that scouts covet. But I think he can make a Boozer type impact if he keeps working on getting in shape. He has very nice shooting form, a soft touch, and is reportedly a hard worker. I think he could be in the NBA what Sean May could have become if he could have just put down the cookies. -

Tristan Thompson is very impressive, but I like his teammate Jordan Hamilton even more. My top 5 at the moment is... 1. Kanter 2. Irving 3. Barnes 4. Hamilton 5. Sullinger Guys like Knight, Thompson, and Terrance Jones are just outside of my top 5. Knight may not be a natural PG, but you can't over look his value as an athlete at the position that can stay with the other freak PG's in the NBA. Jordan Williams at Maryland is my sleeper for the lotto. If he can shed baby weight, he will be a load in the paint. I'm interested to see how these guys measure out at the combines as well. Are Sullinger and Thompson closer to 6'7 or 6'10? Is Kanter a legit 6'10-6'11?
