QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) As is the list of GM's who own cats. You're better than that. You are such a Williams apologist. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) And replaced by the Red Sox GM who blew even bigger sums. Like I said, short list. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) Throw in our good friends the Cubs while we're at it and we can all smile. The Phillies have thrown a ton of money around and haven't been able to pull off the playoff win since 08. And the Cubs GM who spent that money is currently unemployed. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) Detroit is pretty high up there on the list of teams that spent a ton of money without a lot to show for it as well. The Sox have 1 playoff win after 2005. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) If you switch that standard to 4 seasons, then Theo and the people running the Mets clearly top the list. Like I said short list. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) What are you trying to say? Everyone on this board knows how much you hate KW because Dunn/Rios/Peavy sucked last year and make a lot of money. Is there anything else to add? At what point do you stop bringing it up every time you post? I don't bring it up every time I post. Found it funny that Kenny wished he had the Tigers resources. Not very Chicago Tough is he? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 10:47 AM) "If I define the list to the worst possible stretch possible, he is awful, and I have a column." You are content with the current state of the franchise. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 10:22 AM) I despise KW. But you're reaching here. He was asked a question and he responded the way pretty much every GM already has or would. If Kenny were one of the have-not GM's I'd understand it, but the list of GM's who have spent more money and gotten worse results than him over the last six years is a short one. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) The funny part is that you buy into it every year. To think Kenny is stupid for what he said, and then believe it? lol. I just want to know why he plays the "woe is me act" so often. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) We get it. Over and over and over and over. Thanks Joe. Kenny doesn't get it though or thinks the fan base is baseball stupid because he says it every year. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 09:54 AM) So in other words, if he had a Deloreon time machine, that's about it? I figured as much. Right. Bad decisions by the front office mot lack of resources is the reason the Sox are where they are. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 28, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) Of all of the stuff to complain about... What exactly is he supposed to say there that wouldn't have you complaining? Pretty much anything other than his tired "woe is me" act. If Kenny and his talent evaluators had made better decisions the Sox would be in better position to contend with the Tigers. Josh Fields and Flowers were going to be All-Stars, Daniel Hudson and Gio Gonzalez were deemed expendable. -

Kenny did his tired "woe is me act' yesterday when Garfien asked him his thoughts on the Tigers signing of Fielder. Kenny said (paraphrasing) must be nice to lose a guy like Martinez and to be able to go out and sign Fielder. It is what it is. Yes Kenny we understand, if you only had more money to spend . . . -
If the team is good, Ventura will get the credit. If not, Williams will get the blame.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) If he's being the mouthpiece for anyone, that means someone in the org felt like Ozzie had completely quit on the team years ago. That says a lot about how Ozzie was viewed that anyone would think that. Absolutely it does depending on how much creedence you put in it. Same thing goes for Williams or Coop when Cowley has written unflattering things about them that he's gotten from Guillen.
-
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) Even if you agree with Rozner's sentiments, and dislike Cowley heavily, it probably still needs to be said that Rozner's article lacks meat. Not really loads of supporting evidence here for his claims. The difference between Cowley and Rozner is, you know who Cowley is the mouthpiece for. With Rozner you have to guess did this come from Chairman Reinsdorf or Williams. I agree with his premise that Guillen had to go.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) Alexei is the type of player you can build around, Konerko is not. Building around a 31 year old?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) If you trade Alexei, what's the point in keeping Konerko on the roster? There's no way they compete in 2012 or 2013 with Escobar, Martinez or Lillibridge at SS. http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/7...cash-roy-oswalt Maybe Marty believes we can compete with Nick Punto or Michael Aviles as our starting SS... Konerko is a fan favorite, Ramirez is not.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) why keep Konerko around then? what's the point? Because Bost has Gonzalez at first and Ortiz at DH.
-
I think the Red Sox could afford Ramirez and Floyd or Oswalt, but I don't think they have enough prospects to make it worth the Sox while. Ramirez to Boston, Floyd to Toronto would be intriguing.
-
How's this for a compromise Ramirez to Red Sox, Floyd to Jays.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) I really hope so, but I bet the Sawx are going after Oswalt. Or Garza maybe. Even though Oswalt would only cost them money I think he'd be a bad fit in the AL. Can the Red Sox take that risk?
-
Per MLBTradeRumors Rockies close to acquiring Scutaro. Bidding war between Jays and Red Sox for Floyd?
-
I'm sure it's tough for him, but Peavy isn't a guy that can be counted on and thus can't be looked at as a leader. He should decline all interview requests for the rest of his time with the Sox.
-
With Kuroda and Pineda to NYY, does EJ for 1-2 years
Marty34 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
1.) Oswalt is a bad risk for the money when you consider the switch in leagues. 2.) Oswalt likely wants to go to a contender.
