  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) You mean the guy who already has another job lined up? Yeah, I don't feel too bad for him. Everybody and their brother knew he'd go to Florida with Guillen. Why name him the interim manager?
  2. Guillen had to go, but how in the heck do you appoint Cora the interim manager last night and this morning Williams texts him not to show up tonight. What an embarrassment. Kenny Williams needs to get his act together.
  3. Alomar doesn't thrill me. Martinez seemingly would be able to bring a new perspective on how things can be done given his time with the Rays. I think that's what's most needed in this organization. Alomar though would be more likely to be a Williams puppet. That has to put him as the early favorite.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) plus (Bell) seems to be improving the turnout of our minor league players, so why move him? What??? The reason I would want Bell as manager is at least it would get him away from his current job.
  5. @dan_bernstein Dan Bernstein Kenny looks bad. Wear a damn tie. Act like an exec. @dan_bernstein Dan Bernstein Bad showing for a nervous, tight, dry-mouthed, defensive Ken Williams.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Why? Public confidence.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Good call, Marty. The way we are finishing the season with a 4-11 record I think in our last 15, don't you agree we will lose 90-95 games next year w/out changes? This team is really really bad on paper. Thanks for the props Greg, Quinarvy. I think it's a longshot that we contend next year and if we do it will only be for 2012 and we'll have to pay for it big time in 2013. Long-term solutions need to be found for that rotation beginning this offseason
  8. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) JR needs to make this whole process as short as possible. The quicker Ozzie is either fired or traded the better it will be for the organization going forward. They need to get this done and focus on a replacement and direction for this organization. Absolutely. In the grand scheme of things, it's much more important to restore public confidence in this organization than it is to wait until November in order to acquire Emilio Bonaficio.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) Honestly, despite your join date, I've never seen you post before the past month. So, no props for you! On March 27, 2011 I wrote: You replied to me Quinarvy!!
  10. Where's my props for calling this a mediocre team before the season started? This, in the face of many 90-win predictions on the board.
  11. Trey Williams is the son of former Sox third baseman Eddie Williams. Eddie Williams, man that is a name from the past.
  12. http://www.throughthefencebaseball.com/201...am-draft/11319/ Have the Sox taking H.S. OF'er Albert Amaro. Others around that pick are Hunter Virant LHP H.S. Mike Zunino C Florida Atlantic U. Addison Russell SS H.S. Trey Williams 3B H.S. Trey Williams has very impressive bat speed. Thoughts?
  13. Williams made multiple mistakes regarding Peavy. First dealing for a pitcher who was injured. The bigger mistake was thinking they could win if Peavy was something less than the 1 starter he was acquired to be and thus going "all in". There was absolutely no reason to believe that if he came back as a 3-4 starter that this team had the type of rotation to win a championship.
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Only the posters here would have predicted the kind of seasons that Dunn, Rios, and Peavy had. What Kenny has done every year, with the players available, is build a team capable of winning the division. I am amazed how many people think they could have predicted the collapse of three key players. Peavy and Rios were big gambles. As unlucky as Williams was with Dunn, nobody expected Konerko to have the year he had either.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) Maybe they could work that quote into next year's ad campaign, Hey we were in 1st place after opening day. KW has gone from making the playoffs isn't good enough, you must win, to spending time in first place at some point in the season is sign he's a success. This team needs to re-boot. It's not just a season because you know the current season has not been good. The measuring stick is "time in first place" over a DECADE. I love this bunch.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) And Ozzie should have been let go after his homophobic slurs, letting his kid release clubhouse secrets, or calling the fans idiots multiple times. They both suck. There is no defense of Guillen here. You are too sensitive.
  17. Honestly Williams should have been let go after Wilder, his friend he gave a job to, was indicted.
  18. The Sox are not scrubs therefore Williams deserves to keep his job. Unbelievable that he would offer that as a defense. Insulting really.
  19. Guillen's talk about his contract status has taken the focus away from what a terrible team Kenny has put together. Kenny should THANK Guillen on the way out.
  20. Kenny wants to conduct business in a respectful way. Great, wonderful. If they were winning, Kenny would be yelling from the mountain tops about how they do things differently on 35th. Bottom line is who cares how business is conducted when you have a horse crap team.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 07:58 PM) Stewart just isn't impressive. God help us if he's in the starting rotation next year. He seems to be a very comfortable at bat for hitters. Being in the rotation next year is nothing. He's the #3 starter in 2013.
  22. The Sox need to deal the players who they can get talent in return for. This roster is in desperate need of better players.
  23. Coop screwed up David AArdsma and Nick Masset. What I really want to know though was if he had any involvement in the Hudson trade.
  24. Dick Allen would be right in questioning that though.
