  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) Do you really know that little about this sport where you don't know that guys are tired, beat up, and in worse shape at the end of a season? Joe Credence would lose like 20 lbs every year because he wouldn't have time to lift during the year. You're a good storyteller.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) He's had plenty of ABs. Too many. He can get them in the batting cage this winter and in spring training. He know better than anyone what the result is going to be when he walks up to the plate right now. When you hit as poorly as he has for as long as he has, a few ABs isn't going to change the situation. A few months off and a better frame of mind could. If he's going to get out of *this* he'll do it in that batter's box. Hell, I'd lead him off to get him more AB's before I'd bench him.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) A year of baseball? He was never on the DL.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) No its not. They should send him home, let him host a couple of keggers, get away from baseball for a while, maybe hire a personal trainer. Get in better shape, pick up a bat the middle of November and hit for a couple of months to get ready for spring training. He's no different now than he's been the rest of the season, what is sending him up to the plate to strikeout going to do? He needs AB's.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Because healing and then getting into shape takes time? You go lose 20 pounds and build 10 lb of muscle in 2 weeks. Healing from what?
  6. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) Face it we are stuck with him for the next 3 years. I would not be surprised if they move Paulie to AZ for instance.. and move Dunn as the 1b Why would they do that? PK makes the Sox money.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) Then clearly he can try it again next spring. Why wait?
  8. M&M guy has left his seat. Let's see what he comes back with. Friday night, I'm guessing a couple beers.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) He can have an offseason to rework things out. Maybe he has already reworked it.
  10. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Then the White Sox, are on the hook for all the cash at one time... That's not smart, and if you do that, you fire KW It's not all at once. Williams deserves to go.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) No. Reboot. Try again next season. If its more of the same, then the release. It is next season.
  12. The idea that he should not be playing, but should not be released is folly.
  13. I think some type of announcement regarding the structure of this organization will be made before the end of season. I'm still not buying that Williams is certain to be back as GM.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 09:24 AM) I wish our organization had had the balls to make changes when they were necessary even if it may have pissed a few fans off, instead of waiting until the whole thing went to s*** so that 99% of fans could finally see the need. Not that simple. 99% of the fans never wanted to see Lillibridge get another AB after last year.
  15. Classy move by Guillen: @CST_soxvan Daryl Van Schouwen Guillen on report that Reinsdorf assured Williams he will return as GM: He deserves it. He's doing a good job.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) be honest... Which hole are the sox filling by trading Sergio? Getting a young starting pitcher? No. corner outfielder? Benching Viciedo or de Aza? Benching morel, alexei, Beckham, or Konerko? Gettig a young cheap reliever? Well...that kinda um...is Sergio. I guess if someone offered you a catcher or for some crazy reason take rios with him...but there's really no hole that gets filled by trading serg. Package him with Quentin or Ramirez.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) If we go 9-deep the Braves, D-backs and Rays go about 29-deep. Nothing more needs to be said.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) As has been mentioned over and over in this thread, very few teams in baseball have that kind of money sitting around to make a lump-sum payment in 2012. It's not a lump sum payment. Anyway, it's not going to happen. Benching Dunn is worse than releasing him. He should play every game from here on out.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Am I wrong that cutting a guy = paying off his entire contract at that moment? Per Cotts: They would not have to pay him a lump sum.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) Haha indeed he did. I vote Greg and Marty for 2012 GM/Manager combo. They'd cut Dunn, Rios, Peavy and eat the 80 million owed. Resign MB for 4 years 90 million, Juan for 2 years 20 million, and give Ozzie an open ended 10 mil a year deal. Then trade everyone else on the team for pitching prospects. It would be a great benefit to you if you watched more baseball.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Bulls***, its his first season in that role and his second as a pitcher. He's got the stuff and the balls to be a very good closer. Why has he failed so much this year?
