8/31 GT - SOX vs. Twins - 1:10pm CDT - WGN

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) How can anyone with any sanity think it's a good idea to bat a hitter with an OBP of .253 in the cleanup spot? Have you started drinking early? They won last night with him hitting 4th, scored 8 runs. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) Unless De Aza and Lillibridge are both hurt, no. No. Right-handed hitters have an .840 OPS versus Diamond. -

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) I hope for your sake that you're just trolling....but even at that point...who trolls a White Sox message board? Trolling a large message board with a ton of traffic I can understand...but trolling a board with maybe 20 active posters? Do not get. You must not watch a lot of baseball. -

I don't like Rios, but for today this is the right move. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) I believe of the three (Pierre, De Aza and rios) rios has the lowest OPS against LHP but sure rios brings those intangibles like lackadaisical play and not knowing how many outs there are with 2 outs in 9th that you just can't teach. There is absolutely no reason to continue to play rios He hits better against Minny than any other team. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) Seriously, Alexis cleaning up again? Why not? Seriously. If he's good enough to be in the lineup, he's good enough to bat 4th. He's been hitting better as of late too. -

Rios is the better option versus the left-hander. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) No Marty, the other reporters are calling out Cowley for losing his objectivity and being in bed with Guillen. He has no journalistic integrity when he writes these bulls*** columns. Spiegel was right today when he said Guillen is just using him Nowhere does Cowley blame Williams for the relationship souring. He's just saying that Williams is cutting of his nose to spite his face by letting personal stuff dictate getting rid of Guillen.
-
Per Cowley today talking about Williams: This has become a big deal folks. The other writers are doing a CYA because they don't have Guillen's ear like Cowley does to report it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Yeah, but he's too streaky to be a cleanup hitter. He'd bet a better 5th or 6th place hitter. Right and you pay the price of having a bad OF'er playing as you wait on those streaks. He has value, just think it's overstated. -

It's nice to have an offense that isn't reliant on Quentin. His numbers are greater than his impact. -
I like Cowley's writing style, that is no lie.
-
It was alarming how quickly Strasburg blew out his elbow especially when you consider that he was treated with kid gloves at SDSU and by the Nats. I think he'll have more trips to the DL than Cy Young Awards.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Ah, I misread. I thought it was a "Soxtalker says hi, get free beer deal". Dammit and I already printed out all of these flyers with your description and such One other thing, in the unlikely event of a tie the beer will be split amongst winners.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) i just hope you have deep enough pockets Whoa, deal was first person gets the beer my friend.

QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) If Ozzie is sabotaging the season to make KW look bad by refusing to sit big salary players that arent performing, wouldn't benching half of the "all in" contracts also make KW look bad? Absolutely.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Like he knew that Rios was going to return to being bad...? Rios had a very good 2010. Where was the warning? By the same token, if you believe he's the same player he was last year you have to play him regardless of what he's done the first 5 months of the season. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Wouldn't you want to see if a new manager and hitting coach could get decent talent to overachieve in order to get better than decent results? I think Guillen should go. Bigger problem though is paying steak prices for hamburger talent.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) Nice way to narrow it down to fit the narrative. It was .744 with Toronto and fell to .530 when he got the Sox, a drop of over 200 points. Good job at indicting Ozzie's job performance again Joe. With you in his corner, he can't possibly lose his job. Doesn't change the fact that Kenny "The Genius" Williams outsmarted himself with the Rios claim. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) If ozzie was a good manager that would make sense, however he is not. He consistently gets decent talent and under achieves. He also is a terrible in game manager and makes puzzingly bad lineups. Decent talent = decent record nothing more.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:49 PM) Little known fact is that they have his (Wise) OPS on the wall as well. The problem is that it was so small, no one can see it. . . . And still 98 points higher than Rios' OPS for the Sox that year. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) Somehow I doubt he was acquired to be our cleanup hitter. EDIT: And again, for the thousandth time, Kenny told Ozzie to play his best players and to ignore their salaries. Rios was not acquired to be the cleanup hitter. Someone else was though . . . -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) I wonder what goes through Reinsdorf's head when he flips the game on to see that Alex Rios is batting 4th. Who thought he was worth acquiring again? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) Bingo. Joe Cowardly didn't break s*** here. It was Phil. If you don't believe it use the advanced google search and check the time line. Phil is the first one with the report. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-01...tract-ownership You are wrong about Cowley. Sure Phil Rodgers broke it back in JANUARY. Cowley says talk has been renewed.

Are De Aza and Lillibridge everyday players and can Lillibridge play SS or even 3B?
