In my view, the key would be to get a solid mid-rotation starter for Quentin. Once that is accomplished rebuild the offense by dealing Jackson, Floyd, and Danks
-
Spoke with a higher up at today's game, no decision until September. As always, take it FWIW.
-
There's a tinge of truth to that. Rosenbloom is still an idiot though.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) I think if the Ozzeroo were to get the boot this year, you'd be looking at Buddy Bell for the rest of the year as the Interim White Sox Manager. Then (unless the team goes ape s*** and starts tearing ass all over the place and gets far in the playoffs), you'd be ushering in the Sandy Alomar/Dave Martinez area of White Sox baseball. I'm a big Ozzie fan but it does sound fresh and exciting though, doesn't it? I think this is the most likely scenario. Not as sold on Alomar as I would be on Martinez.

Off topic somewhat, but that Gammons expects Guillen to be fired at the break and there to be nary a word from a Sox beat writer is yet another example of how bad the Sox beat writers are.
-
Hard to see them going outside the organization for a replacement at mid-season because they'd likely have to give a multi-year deal and they might be rebuilding this offseason. The rebuild would call for an entirely different manager.

QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) wait a minute about 75 % of people love the moves kennys makes the time the deals are done BUT if they dont pan out KW is an idiot, which there are some moves that backfired(gio, hudson.C young) but ALOMST everybody loved it when the sox got DUNN,Peavy,Rios so i really dont know of a perfect GM but i do know KW shouldnt be blamed for player not DOING THERE JOBS........ Peavy, Rios, and Dunn to a lesser extent were gambles made necessary by a GM who has not built a solid organization.

This guy is all over the press when things are going well. I'd like a state of the union after this week.

Quentin-for-Beachy? Would the Braves do that? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/chicago_white_sox/index.html

Encouraging early returns from Leyson Septimo at Birmingham. 7ip, 9k, 3bb. Maybe they can fix him.

Does Jackson Get Dealt Before Deadline No Matter What?
Marty34 replied to Marty34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just can't see KW giving up Hudson for 1+ year of Jackson, it would drive him nuts. I think Jackson gets dealt for a prospect. Now, what type of prospect, I don't know. Wandy Rodriguez is the best starter I've heard who might be available. Jeremy Guthrie too .... -
I can see Jackson being dealt by the deadline for something for next year regardless of where we are in the standings. Keep an eye on Addison Reed because I think he's the guy they're looking at as the righty help for the bullpen. As far as Jackson, what do you think his value would be? I'm looking at the top 4 teams in the NL Central as possibilities. Hope that race stays tight.

Cowley is the go to guy for Sox coverage in this town and it isn't even close. It's nice to have someone call out KW there are enough who call out Guillen.

the White Sox are never a second half team...
Marty34 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They haven't been a second half team since the the park became hitter-friendly, '03? The pitching has worn down, hopefully the 6-man rotation alleviates some of that wear and tear. Also, 2nd half schedule doesn't seem as tough this year as in years past. -
To this day it bothers me that Frank was left in the minors in 1990 until August when it was clear he was ready during spring training. I'd love to replay that season with Frank playing 160 instead of 60.

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 08:45 AM) “I don’t give a [expletive] what people say about me, I don’t,” Guillen said. “As long as I’m manager of this team and JP is here, he’s playing. You don’t want him here, well get him out of here and bring whoever they want to bring.” “I’ve said in the past, they want Viciedo here, my door is open, as soon as he’s here I’ll play him every day,” Guillen said. “Now, I make it clear, they gotta make a trade or make a decision to send someone down. I cannot play with a 26 man roster. But as long as JP is here, he’s playing. If people don’t like it….” OK Kenny, that's your queue. So this has always been KW's decision if Guillen is to be believed.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) IF we lose this division the scarlet letter-men will be Becham, Rios, Dunn, Thornton ( as closer ), Santos ( growing pains ), and Pierre. Morel has not done THAT bad. Morel can easily be replaced. He's not a good fit for a team that needs offense. On that I think we can all agree.
-
Morel is terrible too and what's maddening is they don't have to play him because of his contract. They're going to lose this division in part because they stuck too long with Pierre and Morel.

Rough math on Brandon Short in May/June shows a line of .333/.409/..515. Only 23, I think he's going to be an everyday CF'er one day.

F*** it III: Sox vs The National. First Pitch 7:10 CT

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:57 PM) Teahen is just not a good option out there on the field. He really isn't, no matter where you put him. And that's not a good label for a guy whose supposed value is his "versatility" in the field. The error here in this inning is clearly on Alexei, but we all know that a good first baseman probably picks that one. Ugh. It was a tough hop, not a short hop. A very good first baseman might make that play. -

Silver lining: maybe Morel gets sent down to add a reliever after the game. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:05 PM) He's pretty much doing exactly what he should be doing. The problem is that 4 other guys in the lineup aren't, so instead of hitting 8 he's defaulting into the 2 spot. He should be making a lot of outs? You really set the bar high for him.
