  2. I don't know his situation, but yes she would watch on tv and he'd be close enough to get home in case the end is near.
  3. Because it's the last chance for his grandmother to see his grandson play basketball?
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) If Hawk is the best announcer in the game, then Konerko is the best 1b in the game. wat

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 06:53 PM) Are all the characters on SHIELD from the comics? Don't read comics but dont believe any of them are. Marvel needs to use its big IP base to make this a success.
  6. Creaning a Simeon kid would be all kinds of stupid.
  7. The best announcer in the game. Let's hope he wins. He deserves it.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 01:59 AM) For a second there I thought you were watching the old cop show with Michael Chiklis. I was wondering why you would hate the 2nd episode. I remember liking it. I am going to start watching that or Prison Break next. Those shows I always hear brought up in GOAT discussions (well only a season for one Prison Break).
  10. Missed that by about a foot. Run scores. Sean Marshall sucking. 4-1

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 01:43 AM) 2nd episode of Shield is awful so far. That surprise guest appearance saved a complete disaster, but otherwise it was terrible. Next week looks better.

  13. Ahmad Starks to sit out this year. Lame
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) Is this the same Bernstein that published the article about how the Sox should take advantage of the growing trend to be given interesting prospects in return for taking on bad contracts? Because I don't think that Bernstein really follows baseball. He may have sources, but he's shown no indication of understanding what people tell him. He got caught lying about Illini stuff under the guise of his "sources". And was wrong multiple other times through two coaching searches regarding them. He doesn't have sources. He makes stuff up for ratings and can come off as convincing but that's it. He ends up wrong and it's the last you ever hear of it.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) I know one of Bernstein's ties to the organization and they are rock solid. No you don't

I just got an interview request for less than 20 hours from now? Uh, is that normal? I'm not the least bit prepared and haven't had an interview in a long time. I think I'll just turn it down. Seems kind of ridiculous.
  17. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 06:58 PM) Bernstein has pretty good Sox sources. No, he doesn't.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) When talking about the Sveum firing, Dan McNeil asked Dan Bernstein if he would have been upset if the Sox fired Ventura and he said no. Interestingly, Bernstein brought up the hypothetical of replacing Ventura with Guillen again. McNeil said Guillen had burned too many bridges and Bernstein replied paraphrasing that Kenny Williams is largely out of the picture. Anyway, I think someone in the Sox organization has told Bernstein to not be surprised if Guillen returns as manager one day because he continues to talk about it. Bernstein is an idiot who pretends to have sources.
  19. Rios batting third. AJP 5th. Sigh...
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 01:14 AM) They need to get Perez out of there. 1 Run on 3 hits and a walk. He avoided big damage.
  21. They need to get Perez out of there.
  22. Whoever wins tonight, I hope they win the World Series. f*** the Indians. Monday TBS 7:07pm Rays at Rangers Price (9-8) vs. Perez (10-5) Tuesday TBS 7:00pm Reds at Pirates Cueto (0-0) vs. Liriano (0-0) Wednesday TBS 7:00pm Rays at Indians Alex Cobb vs. Salazar (0-0)
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) Saying te pitching woAverage no longer be a strength after ahypothetical is just wrong. They're not highly touted but Bassitt and Snodgress will be starting off at Charlotte next year and both could be legit major league contributors. And if that's not good enough, Beck is on the same path EJ was on this year and we should definitely expect him to be pušing Charlotte by the middle of next year. And that's on top of any signing they might do for depth like Floyd could be. If you are relying on those guys, then I'm likely right. The pitching is no longer a strength. Average at best. Yes, this is ignoring hypothetical signings.
  24. QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) Holy crap Gillaspie was BAD against LHP - .159/.197/.254/.451. RHP was significantly better - .261/.324/.414/.738. Not great, but acceptable if Keppinger/Semien can provide ~ the same output against LHP. Probably Semien, as Keppinger couldn't hit from either side of the plate last year. Those numbers against LHP were in only 66 PAs, though, so it seems like Ventura knew not to expect much from him. If Keppinger could hit again in a true platoon, third base wouldn't be a problem
  25. Trading Santiago weakens your pitching staff to the point where it is no longer a strength. It doesn't make sense. You'd have Sale, Q and then a bunch of guys who may or may not be able to stick in a MLB rotation. Not to mention it kills depth which everyone watching this year should know you need. We lost 60% of our opening day rotation this season. Floyd and Peavy to injury (then Peavy traded) and Axelrod to ineffectiveness. No one should ever go into a season with just two known quantities in the rotation and expect to compete.
