QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) The pitching staff is a waste without an offense. Free agency isn't going to be giving you any offense, and neither is your farm system any time soon. Trades are the only way to go. Our pitching staff is likely terrible if you remove one of Q or Santiago.
-
Why would anyone trade Q or Santiago? No no no. You better be getting an all star, young position player in return. Also, you're not, so there goes that.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) This generation has produced some great games that can all make a legit claim to that... Fallout 3 Red Dead Redemption Bioshock Infinite (haven't played, but from all that I've heard) The Last of Us Mass Effect 2 Of those four that I have played, all had amazing stories and good or great gameplay. I'd put Uncharted 2, but by nature of Naughty Dog trumping the entire Uncharted series with TLOU, it seems silly. Oh yeah, forgot about Super Mario Galaxy One and Two which are the most critically well received games of all time. Still have to play two.

I don't think there are multiple people out there excited about Wilkens. He's just a lot better option than Konerko.
-
So if we put Rios, Dunn, or Lindstrom up on the first day of August waivers, a deal should have been done by yesterday
-
Semien being on the 40 man isn't going to hurt anything, and is Wilkins rule 5 eligible? I doubt he's a great candidate, but they may want to add him anyways.

Can't say I ever saw Boone Logan putting up a 2.15 ERA in a season coming. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 02:34 AM) Then saddle up their payroll or at least consider it. They could end up with Dunn and Rios. I'm fine giving them all of that salary and seeing how they deal with it. Or at least making that threat and then sending some cash instead and working out a deal. I always remember when someone did that with Randy Myers and ended up stuck with him. What does that do for us though? Dunn is our best hitter by far and at the very least will get us a decent piece at next year's deadline if he keeps hitting like he is. Everyone these days can always use power. They won't risk claiming Dunn and Rios at the same time, but we aren't going to salary dump either anyways.

We aren't too good with the bases loaded. As dominating as we've been tonight, we should still be up way more it seems. -
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 03:00 AM) once you put in a waiver claim, how much time do you have to make a deal? 2 days I think

Chris Perez melting down against the Tigers again. Shocker. -
I'm back into Fallout 3. It's so good. I would say best or second best game ever along with Ocarina of Time.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 01:54 AM) I assume Quintana stopped using since his suspension, but I guess I could be wrong. Yeah I was just kidding, but with the way this season is going it's shocking he wasn't part of the scandal. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 12:50 AM) Kind of ironic that ARod faces a former PED user in his first game back Former? -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 07:48 PM) As much as anyone could dislike ARod, it is pretty plain to see his punishment is totally unfair given the rest. Sounds like he tried destroying evidence and bribed MLB or something along those lines. I'm more surprised they didn't go for further punishment.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 07:41 PM) There have been a ton of reports of guys juicilimitedn the locker room over the years. For some reason that really seems to have been a major place where it was done and where guys showed other people on the team how to do it. Yeah can't agree with what hurt said there. I think it's clear steroids were a clubhouse culture, not that they were limited to that. If it wasn't part of the culture in Chicago, then the opportunity may not present itself for certain players, not that they were necessarily morally superior or anything
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) I think it would be very naive to think the White Sox had a much smaller percentage of their players juicing over the years than other teams. Eh when you have Frank Thomas in the clubhouse you may think twice about it.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) Didn't the Mitchell RSomeonpercentention positive tests in 2003 before they imposed penalties? Didn't tmeite Sox as a team, not take the tests so the story goes, they would all be positve, yet no one would have it come back to haunt them? That wasn't the Mitchell report iirc. The names were never supposed to be tied to the tests. Someone around 2009 figured out they were and started to leak some names to the media. The Sox said they wouldn't take the tests so they would count as failed tests and mlb would have a better chance at meeting the minimum percent needed to get mandatory testing. Mlb made them test anyways.
-
Yeah Ozuna wasn't in the Mitchell report. He got busted a few years later, after his time with the Sox. Armando Rios, Schoenweis, and Parque were the past Sox players in the report.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:08 PM) A-Rod officially suspenMitchellor 211 games. Rest of 2013 starting Thursday and all of 2014. With the appeal it doesn't matter much, but love how MLB allowed him to play vs us no matter what. They really want us to lose. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) This might seem a bit crass, considering that a few current White Sox players (Quintana and Flowers, to name a few) have tested positive before, but doesn't it say something for the "organization" that NO White Sox players were involved in the Biogenesis scandal? Granted DLS was named/suspended, but his involvement occured after he was traded to Oakland. 2005 White Sox were probably the cleanest team of the last 20 years. We were pretty clean in the Mitchell report iirc.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 06:27 PM) I saw a commenter on the deadspin page point out that all of the suspended players are Latinos. Important, or no? I think Braun and sort of ARod put a dent into any conclusions people would draw from that.

The national news has swamped the Cell tonight in order to see if Jeff Keppinger is actually capable of hitting the ball out of the infield.

I remember De Los Santos being our next messiah around these parts. On the other end, Gio Gonzalez I guess was cleared. Weird there.
