BROTHER RICE OWNS LINCOLN WAY EAST!!!! By negative 26 points. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 06:03 AM) Oh, and XBOX is going to be $300 not $400 IIRC. 400$ The 300$ is a cheap skate move by Microsoft in which you will be paying around $600-$700 once you buy all of the neccessities after you buy the initial system. Basically its just to make a quick dollar at launch from unaware consumers.

Guardians Classic Predictions and Analysis: Austin Regional Texas over Southern Sacramento State over Samford Texas over Sacramento State The promoters seemed to take the safe route in planning this tournament, putting no real challengers up against the opening round host schools. Expect Texas to roll through this regional, with a decent Sacramento State taking a game over Samford. Anything put 15+ victories for TU would be a dissapointment. Morgantown Regional West Virginia over LA Monroe Wofford over Farleigh Dickinson West Virginia over Wofford Again, no one should challenge the host school West Virginia in Morgantown. The big men of WVA will prove to be too much for these low-majors. Expect the Mountaineers to put on 20+ point victories in both games. Iowa City Regional Iowa over UMES Colgate over Utah Valley State Iowa over Colgate Although Colgate has the chance to be decent in a surprisingly decent Patriot League, don't look for them to give the Hawkeyes any trouble. The host school will again role with big victories in each game. UMES and UVST shouldn't give any problems in either of their opening games. Lexington Regional Kentucky over South Dakota State Libscomb over Nothern Colorado Kentucky over Libscomb Kentucky should make it 4-0 for the host schools and do it pretty easily. SDST and N. Colorado are both Provisional Independents while Libscomb is nothing more than a middle of the pack Atlantic Sun team. Championshiop Rounds Iowa over Kentucky Honestly, I'm having a really tough time picking a winner here. This one can certainly go either way. In the end though, I expect Iowa to win simply because they return their whole roster and will be more in sync at the beginning of the season than most other teams. Iowa also has had some decent performances in preseason tournaments in years past. The experianced Horner vs. the quicker Rondo is a match-up to watch. Texas over West Virginia I'm not entirely sure Pittsnoggle and WVA can carry over the Elite 8 magic to this year. They won't have the depth or amount of scorers to overcome Texas' balanced attack. Look for Gibson to have a big game over WVA's limited guard in the win. Kentucky over West Virginia Once again WVA won't have the guard play to match-up with Rondo and Patrick Sparks of Kentucky. UK, though, won't have much too match up with Pittsnoggle. They cannot afford for him to go off. Iowa over Texas You know what, I'll just go out and say it: I believe Texas is overrated. I don't know why with the loss of 2 starters, this middle-of-the-pack Big 12 team is all of the sudden one of the 3 or 4 elite teams in the nation. I just don't buy it. They are very balanced, however. Again Horner will have the task of guarding a faster, less experienced Point-guard. It should bring another inteesting match-up with Horner actually prevailing. I like Iowa in a decently close game. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 03:03 AM) Where is the option for "I'm buying the Revolution?" Nothing gets my goat more than people who say "Playstation or Xbox?" as if Nintendo consoles and even PC gaming or handheld gaming don't exist. Sorry, but that's my pet peeve. Anyways, the Rev is a must buy for me at launch, Xbox 360 down the road after a price drop and some worthwhile games are released, and most likely the PS3 as long as if they don't implement that rumored ridiculous anti-piracy mesaures (once a PS3 game is played, it only works on that PS3). Nintendo went out with the 90's, dude. No but seriously, I'm counting the days down until I'm playing Metroid Prime 3 with the thing they call the Revolution. Without a doubt it will be the greatest FPS of alltime and an online game to die for. Yeah, no wonder I'm home on a Friday night.

And why is ESPN all of the sudden pushing Steve Phillips as their main baseball insider? What happened to Peter Gammons, whose role this year with BBT and SC was muss less than in years past. Sure Gammons was biased at times and had some stupid opinions of his own, but he's still one of the best writers in the bussiness. Phillips is just horrible, all the way around.

It is utterly pointless to buy it at launch. 400$ for very underwhelming hardware and ever more underwhelming games. Pass.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 02:52 AM) I'm pretty sure being a good teammate/team player ties into being a great Sportsman. Exactly. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Who the hell cares about the brand? If its a good game, play it. I care about the brand. I have joined the boycott of EA, along with millions of others.

Syracuse ends up winning by 5 over Cornell. Very, very ugly game, especially by one Gerry McNamara. -

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Years from now, when you look up "career suicide," I expect to see a picture of Rafael Palmeiro. Right now under Google there is a picture of Mike Hampton.

Hawk and Farmer also on the list.

McNamara is having another terrible game. He's 0-6 including 0-3 from beyond the arc. Can't say I didn't tell you... -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) As for Bobby Frasor, I would say the majority of Illini fans are just a bit frusterated by all the press and recruiting high marks Frasor got for going to UNC, despite the fact that he really isn't all that great of a player. Where do people get this impression from? It's just so common I have to ask. Have you ever once seen him play? If so, what did you see that every other coach and media agent in America missed? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Read the illiniboard often? Nearly every post after he went to UNC was how he'd never amount to anything at UNC, and he'd be transferring to some mid-major school by '07. I still don't get why Illini fans hate him or want him to fail. Questioning talent is another thing. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) I've heard very good things about him. Even though most Illini fans I know want him to fail, I've heard he's looked great in practice and has an excellent chance at starting sooner, rather than later. Just wondering why would Illini fans want him to fail? It's not like Weber ever came after him. He was very high on UNC and Marquette. He never even mentioned the Illini. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) how has bobby frasor been faring so far for the heels? i'd read somewhere he was going to start. hat's off to a fellow southsider if that's the case. He's a good friend of mine. He had a nice game the other night and I believe PaleHose was telling me he might start the other night. -
QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) Right now, i'm on a big cheez-it fix. Those things are god's snack. Also, for the college guys, I've had jimmy john's subs 3 times in the past week. It's like I'm reading a mirror.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) Little early to be predicting Final fours Meh, not really. You can usually see the best teams in the preseason. I know its not an exact science but I and others can tell you whose going to be good and whose not. Heck, I correctly predicted the Final 4 in the preseason last year. Or may be I'm just arrogantly blinded by that. -

I can see a TON of overrated teams this year. UCONN and their offcourt problems, Louisville losing their 3 best players yet being ranked in the top 10, and Memphis who has been this good on paper before and fallen apart being 3 examples. Last year, I correctly picked the Final 4 in the Preseason. This year, I can't say I see 4 great teams. Michigan State, Duke, and Gonzaga are head and shoulders above the rest. That 4th team, however, is giving me nightmares. No idea who it will be due to all of these pretenders, and therefore, I will not pick one. -

The 2005-2006 season officially starts tonight. My Predictions for the CvCC: Syracuse Regional Syracuse over Bethune-Cookman Cornell over St. Francis Syracuse over Cornell Lubbock Regional Texas Tech over San Jose State Portland over Georgia Southern Texas Tech over Portland Winston Salem Regional Wake Forest over Mississipi Valley State George Mason over UC Irvine Wake Forest over George Mason Gainesville Regional Florida over St. Peter's Albany over Oakland Florida over Albany Watch out for the Florida bracket. Florida will have trouble making it out of there. Three of the 4 teams are quality ball clubs while Florida immediatly has to deal with the loss of its 3 stars. St. Peter's features one of the best players in the nation in Keydren Clark, so even a 1st round exit for Florida is possible. Albany is the favorites in the American East, and like St. Mary's last year, I could see them driving the event promoters nuts. Florida SHOULD still be able to prevail though. Championship rounds Texas Tech over Syracuse I expect big things from Jarrius Jackson and Texas Tech this year. Meanwhile, 'Cuse has to quickly replace over 36 PPG from their starters, including the production of one Hakim Warrick. Not only that, they think they will do so by Gerry McNamara. He is consistantly one of the most overrated players in the nation. Not only that, some dare say he and his 34% shooting is the best shooter beyond the arc. Texas Tech shall roll. Wake Forest over Florida This one is easy. People are vastly underrating Skip Prosser and Wake Forest. I believe they have to chance to do better than they did last year. Florida on the other hand will struggle to replace a team that wasn't great to begin with last year. Syracuse over Florida No, I refuse to give Florida any love. 'Cuse can use this to set an example to the rest of the Big East, because this wins going to look better on paper than it actually was. I expect big things from Terrance Roberts in a blowout of the Gators. Cuse will need him to be great this year, atleast if they want to stay in that Big East exclusive 4. Wake Forest over Texas Tech This, folks, is going to be one hell of match-up. If they do indeed both get here, you better be watching. With one of the best backcourts in the country playing for Bob Knight, I expect mega talented guard Justin Gray to struggle a bit. However, Tech will have no answer for Eric Williams inside. Look for super Recruit Kevin Swinton to have a big game as well.
