Can you guys tell me about Gonzalez and Haigwood?
Buehrle>Wood replied to Hey_Look_Its_Chase_Utley!'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
First, let me just say this: I'm awful with my minor leaguers. But I thought Haigwood was our crap knuckleballer? Or am I confusing my people here? -

Great Alaska Shootout Preview This is one of the weakest fields in the GAS's histroy, yet remains one of the strongest preseason tournaments this year. Featured are only a couple of major conference teams, such as Marquette and both USCs. 1st Round Predictions Oral Roberts over Southern California Marqutte over Eastern Washington South Carolina over University 0f Alaska-Anchorage Southern Illinois over Monmouth That first game between USC and Oral Roberts should be a very good one. Make sure to watch on ESPN2. I like ORU winning behind Mid-Con Player of the Year Caleb Green. All the other 1st round match-ups should be decisive victories for the winning team. 2nd Round-Consolation Southern California over Eastern Washington Monmouth over UAA USC should win easy over Eastern Washington. Monmouth should also cruise to set-up the 5th place game. 2nd Round Oral Roberts over Marquette South Carolina over Southern Illinois Oral Roberts should win their 2nd consectutive game vs. a big conference opponent. The game should be another close one though. The other semi-final should be just as exciting. Although the Salukis lost do it all man Darren Brooks, you should never expect a down year from them. I still like reigning NIT champ USC in this one. They should be able to simply out talent So Ill. Place Games Eastern Washington over UAA for 7th place Southern California over Monmouth for 5th place Southern Illinois over Marquette for 3rd place South Carolina over Oral Roberts for the Championship Marquette won't be happy leaving Alsaska with 2 losses, especially with this weak field. Southern Illinois should be happy, however. They take 3rd place in a tournament usually dominted by bigger conference teams. Southern California should cruise in its final 2 games, after letting ORU beat them in the opening game. Monmouth shouldn't pose any problems for the Trojans in the consolation championship game. The other USC should be the champions of this tournament. Their biggest test will be in the semis vs. the Salukis, though Oral Roberts is no team to overlook either. This should reallt boost their confidence, and I really believe they can contend in the SEC EAST. All they have to do is score a little bit more. -

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) The Chicago White Sox have acquired Jim Thome. Thome. This guy potentially can put up downright silly numbers playing the majority of his games in US Cellular Field. This is unreal. Quickest MS paint skills in the West! -

I love it. We improved our offense without losing any of our pitching. That was our only concern this offseason. -
Reports out are saying that a good majority of 360's are crashing. Not good for Microsoft.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) Do you really believe that the biggest company in the world can't make a few more Xbox's? Seriously? This is the same company that can crank out 80 gazillion copies of Windows when it comes out every few years, do you ever hear about shortages or capacity problems with ANY other MSFT product EVER? Yet it just so happens to be in the same product category, and at the exact same time of year that everyone always has a shortage of their brandnew gaming system. This scarcity is COMPLETELY manufacured (or lack there of I guess would be more acurate). They want to create a huge demand for it, complete with people paying $1000 a piece on Ebay so that in March when they do have them available you will RUN out to buy one at the bargin price of only $400 each, and feel lucky that you got one. This is just excellent marketing, nothing more. I doubt it. This is the very first ever worldwide(meaning same day everywhere in the whole world) launch of any product like this. They only had 8 months to invent and then manufacture the machines. Skeptics said they weren't going to be able to do it. And Simply put, they haven't. They were only able to get 400,000 units in the states. It could of sold as much as 2 million. That's just too big of a difference for MS to be playing around.

QUOTE(The Bones @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) How can anyone possibly hate Bucknell? I'm pretty sure the entire state of Kansas falls under that category. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) I highly doubt that. I know SOSH has a huge following, but if you were to combine WSI, Soxtalk, and NSBB SOSH would be outnumbered big time. Actually, both Soxtalk and WSI are already bigger than SOSH by themselves. EDIT: So does NSBB.

His name has been tossed around with us before. I could see us dealing Garland is we had another deal set-up. El Duque will not be going into next season as a starter.

I would may be give out some letter grades. You know, for us too lazy to actually read.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Red Sox and "mystery" team take over lead: http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/ESPNSports/story?id=1334519 Anyone guess who the mystery team is? Off the top of my head, I think it would be the Dodgers. They done blockbuster deals before and IIRC, they have a terrific farm system. They also have a new GM who could be looking to make a big splash early. -

Maui Predictions: 1st Round Games Michigan State over Chaminade MSU will win in a route. Can't say much more here, as I don't know much about D2 host school Chaminade. What I can say though is that Tom Izzo WILL be in an ugly Hawaiian shirt. Gonzaga over Maryland As I have stated many times be for, I love Gonzaga's team this year. They feature the nation's best player in Adam Morrison and of course one of the nation's best coaches in Mark Few. Maryland doesn't have too shabby of a coach either. The Terps are rated nationally, though I don't think I would put them there yet. They lost do it all guard Gilchrist, and I think this will hurt more than people are saying. Arizona over Kansas No one on Kansas will be able to match-up with Hassan Adams. Adams took a step backwards last year under the shadow of Salim Stoudamire and Channing Frye. Kansas, both young and expierenced, won't know what is going on as 'Zona rolls in a surprising route. Arkansas over UCONN Upset pick here. Atleast most would call it that. UCONN just has too many problems for my liking. I also don't see anyone stopping Ronnie Brewer either. Expect the Razorbacks to give them hell in the win. 2nd Round Consolation Maryland over Chaminade The Terps get a gift to the fifth place game. Chaminade again has no chance an AAC power. UCONN over Kansas Bill Self can't seem to win in this tournament either. The Jayhawks don't have the bangers to match-up with Rudy Gay and Josh Boone. I really don't expect this game to be close either. It will be one of the many bumps in the road for Kansas this year, as they are destined for the poor 7th place match-up. 2nd Round Gonzaga over Michigan State Also my pick for the national championship game this year. That just goes to show you how great this preseason tournament is. Onto the game, I think it will be very close. Michigan State didn't look very good in the first game against Hawaii, but they will eventually get their act together, hopefully starting in this game. I still like the bulldogs to win, with NBA bound J.P. Bastista leading the way Arizona over Arkansas Assuming they are matched up, Brewer and Adams is as good as a player match-up as any you will see during non-conference play. The difference, however, will be the talent outside these two. Clearly, UA has the advantage there. This could be Ivan Radenovic's big break out game. Place Games Kansas over Chaminade for 7th place Yet again, Chaminade won't have the athletes to compete with its bigger conference foe. Kansas will roll. UCONN over Maryland for 5th place Both will be suffering from the point guard situations. This game will have to be won with the better big men and without a doubt the Huskies have the advantage there. Caner-Medley is solid but still not as good as the 2 major forces down low for Connecticut. Michigan State over Arkansas for 3rd place Brewer again should provide some match-up problems, though again not sure on how much help he will get. MSU has a nice balanced attack that I don't think the Razorbacks will be able to handle. This game should be a lot of fun to watch nonetheless. Gonzaga over Arizona for the championship An awesome final. This is going to be one of the best games of the season if everything holds through. All-American Adam Morrison won't be stopped, because frankly, no one can stop him. Derek Raivio and Mustafa Shakur is going to be a terrific match-up to watch. Batista on Radonovic will be great as well. I would like to see how Batista handles it. Morrison won't be the only high NBA pick on this team. Final Standings 1. Gonzaga 2. Arizona 3. Michigan State 4. Arkansas 5. UCONN 6. Maryland 7. Kansas 8. Chaminade -
