  1. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) Note to Walker: Win or try dying. Already dead.
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) Maybe the White Sox will bring up Bobby Jenks for Walker now. I thought they should've done that in the first place if they were going to bring up Walker. I don't like that guy one bit. If only his name was Tyler and not Kevin. Jenks is too good to be brought up now. If anyone, take Baj up. But noone will be brought up, due to the already overflowing roster space.
  3. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) Yes, it is not an enviable position to be in. The more I think about it, if the intent was indeed to test Walker, he was put into the perfect situation. Bringing in a rookie for mop up doesn't really accomplish much if you are trying to gauge his potential. It was do or die for Walker, and of course we know how that turned out. Though Shingo and Vizcaino are struggling (to put it mildly), their capabilities are already known. I'm with everyone who claims the move was boneheaded, from the standpoint of winning the game, but by looking at the big picture, I can understand what management may have been doing. It is still very early and the Sox still have a four game lead. If Ozzie makes these same calls in August, I'll be the first to call for his head, but I give him a (tentative) pass for tonight. Did you by chance make a call into the post game show?
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) Are you f***ing serious? He pulled a Mike Jackson tonight. Stop insulting Jackson....
  5. Jizzcaino has officially joined Marte and Cotts in the "I'm too big of a pussy to come in with runners on base club".
  6. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:12 AM) Can I say be happy were in first place now? No.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:07 AM) Time to hire someone else and get Timo outta here. Didn't they send someone over with him in the Miles trade to interpret? I'm sorry but thats just to hard. Its just too tough finding people who speak "Uribe" these days.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) WHo should have gone? I hated Walker going too but. Marte, Cotts, Politte have all been worked. Hermanson can't go in the 7th. Viz sucks. Timo Perez. I mean, Timo Supremo can do just about anything, right?
  9. HE GAWN!!!!! That felt kind of good.
  10. He is a waste of a roster space. There is no reason he is even in the majors, let alone on a first place ball club and being payed about 850,000. Actually, I don't even know why I'm making a thread about this considering it is painfully obvious. Now, why is Gload still in the minors while this scrub is here? Someone explain.
  11. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) no, we need nine ross gloads in the lineup. you know, i hate the way konerko always gets a pass when he struggles based on his history of always hitting a lot of homers and driving in a lot of runs. you picking up on my sarcasm? good, 'cause i'm layin' it on pretty thick. ...
  12. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) anyone who'd rather have ross gload starting over paul konerko needs to chill. PK is 1 dimensional. Although I would defiantly start Kong over Ross, I can see where they are coming from.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) I believe Ross Gload's days as a White Sox are over. Timo playing 1B, while Gload is torching AAA, tells you that much. :fyou OMIT KW already publicly promised Ross a spot on the roster. He'll be up here soon enough.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) I dont know about anyone else, but I would actually rather have Texiera than Blalock Both are absolute studs nonetheless, and are gigantic upgrades over anyone in our lineup. So stop your complaining on who you want.
  15. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) although there was a Zach Day for Juan Encarnacion in the works before Day got injured... so Washington isnt afraid of making moves But Encarnacion is a name and the kind of veteran hitter that Bowden absolutly loves. If we got Castilla, we more than likely wouldn't be giving up anyone on the 25 man outside of maby Crede.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Brendan Harris was never a Mariner. By the way, he has done awesome in the minors... http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/brendan_harris.shtml And just because he was a 5th round pick means he can't be good? Buehrle was a 38th round pick. OK, but still not a "OMG, clear the way for this guy" kind of prospect.
  17. Washington is still an expansion team. They ain't trading any vets under any circumstances, especially with Bowdens man-love for Vets.
  18. 1. Thomas 2. Timo 3. Harris 4. Podsednik 5. Crede 6. Dye 7. Iguchi 8. Konerko 9. Rowand
  19. As much as I would rather have Castilla than Chavez, Vinny aint going no where. It doesn't matter if the Nats are 20 games out by the trade deadline. As a franchise team, they aren't going to go off and have a fire sale. And even if they do, Castilla is not going to be one of those players dealt.
  20. Safeco is by far the best park I have ever been to.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) 1 thing I want people to keep in mind with Chavez is this... Right now, he's hitting worse than Crede. Crede is hitting .227. Chavez is hitting .218. Chavez's OBP is .276, Crede is at .286. Crede is slugging .368, Chavez is slugging a measly .317. Yes, Chavez plays better defense. But all of the people saying getting Chavez will certainly make us better no matter what would be wise to remember that he is doing a horrific job in the batter's box this season. Absolutely terrible. In other words, you're telling us to trade BMac or someone else very high on the list for a guy making $10 million or so a season and who is hitting worse than Joe Crede, because you're making the assumption that this is a temporary thing and not a full-time problem (i.e. long term injury, got off of steroids, or something like that.) I know Chavez has a record as a positive producer. But right now he is not playing like one. And the last thing I want is for us to be stuck with a guy earning $10 million a year who's career spirals downhill. If we made a deal and he did not return to form, we would be absolutely doomed. For years. We'd lose a ton of salary flexibility, and it would cost us a ton of prospects. You're betting a hell of a lot (the team's future for 5-10 years) on the fact that Chavez can turn it around. Thank you.
