He's a pretty decent shortstop. I'd like to pay around $4 million for him, but $5 million is alright. It'd be nice to hold onto him for two more years while we try to get a shortstop of the future somehow.

I disagree. I think Kerry Wood has heart. I think Zambrano is a selfish, stupid, cocky player. Everytime he meltsdown, it makes me happy. Also, did he really flick off St. Louis? I'm surprised we haven't heard more about that from the media.

I would think that if we were in a playoff series, that if we start ELo, we'll probably lose. If we start Garland, it's 50-50. So yeah, I'd rather take my chances with Garland right about now.

Harris everyday at second and Rowand everyday at CF. Uribe can spell Valentin or Crede... but he looks awful lately.

Borchard definitely had some good at-bats where he fought off some pitches. It didn't translate into more hits, but I thought he at least worked the count better than he had.

It wouldn't matter if we're losing games 3-0 or 3-1... our offense is suddenly constipated.

The only advantage I see is that if you have more play-off spots (say 6 teams make it per league), you're probably going to see less trades since there will be more contenders. So keeping players consistently on a team might be a plus for this idea. Still, I don't like the idea and I love how the playoffs are now.

That's BS. He's done well for one season and hasn't stayed off the DL in any of his 3 years. Cy Young is once-in-a-lifetime, Prior ain't.

I'd be afraid that this would become like the NBA playoffs... nobody cares after almost two monthes of basketball... I think it's fine the way it is.

perhaps the elbow injury to Prior and the Kerry Wood rushed return are related... maybe they knew about Prior's injury as early as his start at Miller park and were hoping that 8 days of rest would help it out. All my friends thought I was crazy when I said in April that I heard he might need Tommy John... who has the last laugh now?
