  1. I remember hearing on some sports show that a number of legal experts thought that there certainly is enough evidence to convict Kobe. However, the prosecution is so incompetent that it is very unlikely he will be convicted. The bottom line: Did he rape that woman? Probably. Will he be a convicted rapist? Probably not.
  2. Make sure to read the previous issue. The article about Barry Bonds is hilarious.
  3. weren't we going to send Garciaparra to the Dodgers for Odalis Perez and some other players?
  4. If that's the case, I might have taken the Yankees offer instead...
  5. I don't think we'll be seeing too much of Gload. Probably Timo spells Borchard every now and then, but we shouldn't see much Gload.
  6. Hey man, thanks! That's great!
  7. hey guys, this one is easy! Can somebody make this avatar sized? I want it cropped so it's only the part of Farrell playin' the cowbell. Thanks!
  8. nope! I said of the teams outside of the Cubs who shouldn't be interested in RJ, we have the best prospects to offer (when you consider the Mets won't trade Wright no matter what).
  9. Consider: -Zito hasn't won since June 8th. -Garland has been better about "avoiding the one bad pitch" as of late. Plus, Harden has struggled -Garcia has been way better than Redman this season and we've got a good chance at doing it.
  10. If we're two games out after this road trip, the season's over
  11. Once you look at the match-ups... I don't sound so looney, kool-aid drinky, right? Garland = consistent lately. Harden is so so. Zito has been awful all season. I think Garcia will do fine. Plus our Bullpen is better than theirs, believe it or not. And our line-up is better, too. We should do fine. And mystic... that's just horribly, horribly wrong...
  12. I'm ok with not getting Johnson as long as he doesn't go anywhere
  13. The other benefit of Johnson is that we have another arm in the bullpen, a la the world series in 2002.
  14. See, it can be, though. There are going to be a ton of teams that would want this guy come this off-season. If we can't afford him, I'm sure we can find a suitor for him and restock the lost prospects we used to trade for him.
  15. Wasn't that the year Harold Baines couldn't break .100?
  16. What a horrible, dismal year... Everything except the emergence of Buehrle went terribly.
  17. Last time, we lost both in Oakland. We lost one because Koch blew a save. The other one was a nasty game that went into extra innings. I just think that the "Curse of the Left Coast" is something left over from the Manual regime. This is the perfect time to get over it and for Ozzie to put his stamp on this team.
  18. They no doubt want Finley. I'd say drop the Cubs out of that list. Out of the four remaining, we definitely have the best prospects. Like I said a while ago, we don't get Randy if he doesn't want to come here. We don't get him if get goes nowhere. I think we're the team with the most and best to offer, so it's up to KW to pull the trigger. In my best Ben Stiller voice, "DO IT!"
  19. I think this is the time when we finally dispel the "Curse of the Left Coast." I say we take 6 of the 8 games and get out to a 2 game lead on Minn.

    Bonds

    now of the Brewers. Thanks!
  21. Yeah. I break down the AL playoff race as follows: The Yankees are IN The winner of Sox and Twins is IN I think the A's are IN (either Wildcard or division winners) given their historic 2nd half surge. That basically leaves Anaheim, Boston, Texas, and the Central loser fighting for 1 spot. Texas could be in trouble, isn't Rogers hurt? Anaheim is a very solid club, but they seem to have real issues sometimes (i.e. rash of injuries or Colon potentially eating Vlad). Boston seems so up-and-down... can it sustain a strong run to land in the play-offs? Still, if RJ's goal is truly post-season glory, his best bet is the Yankees, A's, Twins, or White Sox. The first two are virtual shoe-ins, so it seems. He tips the scales for the Twins vs. Sox. Given what he says, I'd think he'd really only want to go to one of those four teams. Of those four, only the Yankees and Sox seem willing to add the $$$ to get it done. I don't even know where he would go in the NL. The NL East is so packed, it's insane. Atlanta will probably find a way to win that one, as it always does. The West is nuts, too. I can see a scenario where he goes to the Giants, but again, that doesn't ensure him getting to the post-season. I don't think the Cardinals would make a move for him, but stranger things have happened. And everybody is in the wild-card race except the Expos and Pirates and his own team. For all we know, he'll probably just stay a Diamondback.
  22. Heather- don't supposed you used to post on either Mouth-Off or KFFL? That name brings back bad memories for me...
  23. Wow. This reminds me of Veterans Stadium when they had a courtroom and holding cell built inside the stadium. Maybe the Cubs should forget adding more seats and follow the Eagles' example.
