  1. What if (and this is just hypothetical), they're able to unload Heyward on someone by giving up Contreras and Happ, etc?
  2. oh god, Grandal is so Carlos Boozer (who by the way, Grandal fits what Hahn says about someone they would value for the future that they can't help when he's available. They've liked him in the past and they can point to his defensive stats).
  3. Well you have the Phillies saying they'll offer "stupid" money and seemingly desperate to sign one of the big 2. If they miss out on Manny, then maybe they get into that stupid range.
  4. and for someone about to make one of the biggest free agent decisions, if not the biggest, in sports history....his buddies sure have loose lips Just kidding peavy, I appreciate you sharing everything today.
  5. especially with the Winter Meetings not even happening yet and Machado still on the market. I fully expect Manny to sign first, and then Harper sees how desperate the Phillies/Yankees get.
  6. Who's to say you'd even want them after 4 years? If they're good enough to opt-out after 4 years, then it's likely they helped the Sox win a lot of games.
  7. Yep, which is why they really have to hope Manny/Bryce make a decision in the next few weeks. If not, you're going to be filling holes with scraps if you go that way.
  8. I was the one who found that Mariners thing, and the reason I even posted it was because the Trent booty account said the Mariners Insider had been accurate with everything in the past.
  9. Fine with me, that should hopefully be enough to make them contenders for 2-3 years while making the franchise relevant again.
  10. Not in terms of AAV. Also, the rumor today is Yanks never even offered Corbin a deal. Makes you wonder what they're saving their money for.
  11. who says they were outbid? Maybe they only wanted to go 5 years and Corbin wanted 6?
  12. To me, that barbershop tidbit is BS. If that business meant so much to him, they could just open up one wherever he goes.
  13. Two main reasons why I feel that way: -Hahn has said he’d like to acquire a premium 3B in coming years -We know they liked Manny last offseason
  14. Hahn again had a chance to temper the enthusiasm for Sox fans when it comes to the big guys, and he absolutely didn’t. That’s a positive sign if you want them to get Bryce/Manny. Oh, and every time I see him remark about you can’t control when players are available, it makes me think Manny is their main target
  15. yep, no more in-between. Thought last offseason was extremely poor, as they didn't deal Avi/Abreu but didn't try to find significant pieces to flip (Soria was pretty mild). This offseason, it's either spend money and/or trade prospects for core players or unload those might not be around in 3 years when you're looking to contend (Abreu, Castillo, possibly Rodon).
  16. fyi, Hahn supposed to be on 720 radio in the 2PM hour. If peavy44 stops posting during that time, we'll finally know what Hahn's burner account is.
  17. https://mobile.twitter.com/rustindodd/status/1070749782661099521
  18. reports on twitter that Tampa was trying to get Goldschmidt also. Wonder if they turn their attention to Nelson Cruz now, or even possibly Abreu? I know I mentioned him in the creative trades thread, but Jose Martinez would be a great DH for someone.
  19. why wouldn't Bryce and Manny want the chance again to be a free agent when they're 29/30? Heyward was a similar age during his free agency and the Cubs providing the 3-year opt-out with heavy money upfront put them in the lead.
