Right there is what I was told a month back regarding Kopech. His velocity seems down to someone who saw him last year and now this year. Obviously it's still a very good fastball, but it's not the plus-plus consistent velocity like many thought he could be. That's where his ability to command it comes into play. I still remember a few weeks back when they showed 3 strikeouts he had as highlights during a Sox game. Something that stuck out to me was he missed his spot on all 3 by about a foot.

Cease went 8 innings. Threw 99 mph on pitch 101. Was getting a lot of swings and misses on his change up.
-
83 thru 7 for Cease. Love how he's been limiting his pitches per inning of late
-
Clearly Kopech needs to get back with Brielle. He's closer to being a AA pitcher than major leaguer. As for Grudz, he's a horrible manager. Been saying that since last year when he would sit on his ass as his players were getting screwed over constantly by strike zones, etc.

I'm sure others will disagree, but sometimes I wish the Sox had him and Rodon just focus on perfecting their fastball command and slider instead of being so focused on developing a change up. Just looked it up, and Kluber basically has two versions of his fastball and two of his slider. Besides that, he throws change up only 6 pct of time (1 pct to righties). What he's done though is perfected his command of the pitches.

His control is hideous right now. 3 walks, HBP and 3 wild pitches. He's not even close to the zone from what I've seen.
-
Maybe back off the plate a bit? He's getting hurt on inside fastballs that he thinks are balls.
-
Until he gets his command in order, keep him in AAA. Proud of the Sox for being so patient with him
-
He was untouchable

Timmy is just awful at the plate. Taking his walks but looks clueless vs sliders. Him and Yoan in a race to who gets below .200 first. This comes on a day where Ricky said both guys need to be mentally prepared for every pitch.
-
Tilson and J. Rondon and Narvaez as well
-
At least Yoan made contact. Baby steps

Good thing these games don't matter. Letting Volstad face Ramirez there instead of EE is brutal.
-
Also facing elite pitching over last week
-
Great inning for Carlos
-
Yes but problem is he seems to have a lot of damage done to him last couple of years when he's in the low 90s with his fastball
-
Pitch selection to Gomes was absolutely awful
-
Fastball ticked up that inning thankfully
-
89 mph fastballs this inning. Hope he's just going through dead arm period
-
Velocity way down to start the game. Bunch of 90s
-
More like his low K/9 rate, etc. advanced metrics didn't love him. Also something interesting is so far, Covey gb pct is like 10 pct higher. To clarify, by no means do I think Covey can be as good as Garland was.
-
Amazing how mediocre Garland's stats were
-
Higher ceiling for me than Garland due to ability to strike people out. However the likelihood he reaches that if very slim.

Decided not to go to MITB. Tickets are insanely high and the product just isn't entertaining to me right now. I watched only a few minutes of Raw/Smackdown this week. It's sad when the most I've seen of WWE personnel lately is on Total Bellas. -
Covey, Tilson and Kevan Smith helped lead the way to win over Indians and one of the best pitchers in baseball. Shocking
