Tigers @ White Sox
I'm not quite sure why they aren't keeping Garcia in CF for a trial run.

2014 White Sox
QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 04:42 AM) Just seen that Jose Dariel has been able to escape Cuba, if that is true maybe all this money Hahn just saved can go toward him and locking up Quintana and Santiago, followed by Beckham and maybe Reed. It would make so much sense for the White Sox to go after him. The good news is the Dodgers aren't likely to bid for him due to having Gonzalez at 1B, same with the Cubs and Rizzo.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 12:39 AM) scratch out easily from "can easily be contenders again next year" and I'll agree...IT'S POSSIBLE, but certainly not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination even with "bad" Verlander and closer problems and Peralta-Gate, nobody's going to touch the Tigers again There's still a pretty low ceiling for the offense next year, even with the addition of McCann and Morneau. Once they traded Rios, it signaled to me that 2014 is a rebuilding year as well.

8/11 games
Most of the hitting prospects for the Sox are struggling again. Brandon Jacobs struggling to make contact of late, and it would be nice to see Trayce finish this season strong with the long ball

8/11 Twins vs White Sox
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 11, 2013 -> 07:57 PM) Axelrod cannot pitch relief or starting. We are done here. Someone please notify Ventura I'm sure they're just waiting until they can expand the roster to call up more relievers.

8/11 Twins vs White Sox
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) And that's why OPS and WAR and fWAR notwithstanding, DeAza's not going to fetch much in the offseason and is still a candidate for non-tendering. What? You mean the same guy that Hahn asked for the Phillies best prospect in return.

8/10 games
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2013 -> 05:40 AM) Has anyone seen him play SS in person? Reports? Surely he's made a lot of errors...we'll see where Anderson, Micah Johnson and Semien all end up in terms of their ultimate position destinations. With the XBH issue, Anderson really needs to be at SS or 2B, possibly CF. He's limited to those 3 positions...unless the White Sox had big-time slugging coming from CF and RF and DH/1B/3B/C...then he could be a LFer in the Pods/Pierre mode. Not Anderson, but I talked to someone who watched the Charlotte game tonight who thought Semien had a bad game defensively. As for Daniel Webb, they thought he was slider-happy with a fastball at 96mph. As for Anderson, he's really cut down on his errors of late.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (beck72 @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 10:19 PM) The sox are or have trotted out many of these types this year-Gillaspie; Flowers; Phegley; Takotte; Casper Wells; Jordan Danks. Along with a slew of pitchers. People are getting chances. It's up to them if they do anything with them. Going into next year with these same guys getting chances [if they haven't done much with the extended play] isn't a way to build a winning team. Of that list, only Phegley and Gillaspie should get another chance next year. However, both guys are probably better off being bench players.

8/10 vs Twins
Arcia has huge power. Rienzo needs to get more of a gap between his fastball and change-up.
-
8/10 vs Twins
Rienzo gives up the 3 run homer. He doesn't have much on the mound today, as he's been way up in the zone with his curve. I'm still not sure what happened to that cutter.

8/10 vs Twins
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) I like how pitting Alexei in the 3 spot suddenly changes him into a completely different player. (namely the power) About 2 months ago, Ventura said that he was concerned that Alexei was sacrificing too much of his power trying to be the perfect #2 hitter. Many at the time suggested moving him in the order to try and see if this improved his power...I guess we'll see what happens now.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) Along the line of those thoughts, why not give a bunch of at-bats to Mitchell the final two months, instead of Tekotte or Danks? Maybe he'll catch fire (miraculously)...who knows? It's highly unlikely, but we KNOW that Danks and Tekotte aren't everyday players. We also know exactly what we have in DeAza. Hahn talked about Mitchell yesterday, and he said that Buddy Bell and Thome went to see him in Birmingham and made a few tweaks to his swing

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
Stoney mentioned the other day that he thinks the Indians will make Gomes their starting catcher next year. Also, as much as I think McCann would be a great player for the Sox, I can't imagine him signing with a team that played so poorly this year.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 09:41 PM) With Gattis emerging as a threat I'd be surprised if ATL resigns McCann. Gattis is blocked at 1B by Freeman, and when all healthy he's blocked by the Uptons and Heyward in the OF. Agreed, and I asked yesterday, which teams out there will be in the market for a catcher?

8/10 vs Twins
Nice job by Rienzo in the first of pitching over a horribly small strike zone.
