Recreation Ribbon 7/25
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) In other news you can basically cross the Diamondbacks off the list for Peavy...not really a surprise. Why's that?

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) Not only arm injuries can happen you know. Line drives hitting you. Fielding plays, a satelite falling from the sky whatever . With so much at stake regarding the future of the franchise, its nuts to put that all on the line. This is all that needs to be said

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) It would be lol-worthy if injuries cause this Detroit team to miss the playoffs why?

Jesse Crain dealt to Tampa Bay
Throwing 78 pitches in a span of 4 days, including 59 on consecutive days, probably didn't help.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) Crap, didn't realize this was a day game. How did Peavy look? A lot better 10 minutes ago

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:38 PM) He probably doesnt...but in the end he may not be managing this team beyond this year. That wouldn't be the worst news

It wasn't a situation like where Buehrle is going to be a free agent at the end of the year and he wants to get the standing ovation one last time. Again, this risk of him getting injured was far too great there. The fact he gave up a homer is secondary to the decision.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) Has he actually shown any sign of learning a lesson? I did find it funny he complained about the distraction of the trade deadline. Considering the same guys played so stupid all season, it's hard to take that excuse seriously.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) Take a breath and ask yourself, does that one AB do anything to damage Peavy's trade value? No, but the risk was about 1000000000 times more than the reward there.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) You cannot make this s*** up. Yes you can, have you watched the Sox this season and the last month of 2012?

It's amazing people think Ventura deserves to stick around next year.
-
Recreation Ribbon 7/25
What a dumbass

Recreation Ribbon 7/25
If Peavy were to get hurt now, Ventura might be the first manager to be fired during a game.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) I don't know about you all, but I can't wait for more Dylan Axelrod! If it means we trade Peavy for a great haul and then aim for a top 2 draft spot....bring it on Dylan!

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) Man oh man the Nats gave up 4 runs to the Pirates in the top of the 9th & allowed them to tie it. Pirates looking to sweep the 4 game set......Season from hell for the Nats after a GREAT season last year. Go Pirates!!

Heck of a start for Peavy. Now Robin, don't use him as a pinch runner this weekend!

Recreation Ribbon 7/25
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) And he pitched like s*** when it mattered in that one good season. End of last year, he had two bad starts vs. DET, and in the third one he couldn't even finish the sixth inning. Needed a big win against the Angels, and he got rocked. Kinda similar to his limited postseason career in San Diego. But god forbid you say something bad about Jake Peavy the competitor. I love having him on the Sox, but I can't stand his apology society that says he does nothing wrong. I do find it funny that someone with a reputation for not showing up for the big game is so coveted by teams dreaming of him pitching in the postseason.

I've been as critical of Peavy as anyone, but he deserves a standing ovation. Took a hometown discount to remain around here with the hopes of winning the WS. When it became apparent this wasn't the year, he gladly stated he'd accept a trade.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) Lol it's not like every inning Peavy is establishing more or less value, as a whole this start is showing that he is still Peavy. Competitive, 89-92 fastball, great control. Peavy is just being Peavy right now and I think that's what the scouts are going to tell their general managers. At this point, I don't think he can help his value
