QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 04:44 AM) Unreal performance by LeBron tonight. Chicago sports radio tomorrow will be funny with callers trying to downgrade this performance.

2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 03:27 AM) It's not over yet. But man. One defensive rebound and we're not even playing tonight. So glad I'm not a Spurs fan. I still can't get over how similar this series is to the 2011 World Series. Since I'm sure there are a lot of Spurs fans that are also Rangers fans, all I can say is OUCH

You're Hahn, who are you looking to trade first?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 02:40 AM) The problem is that a trade like that might get you closer to respectability or a .500 record, but you have to shoot for the stars if you're talking Sale trade partners. The biggest need we have is for a franchise superstar and cornerstone...the type of player that every fan wants to buy their jersey. Unless you're thinking 2-3 moves ahead and are going to package all those prospects for a specific player on another team, like a Mike Stanton...and you can't pull off a trade directly with the Marlins with the system that you have. Taveras has superstar potential

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 01:34 AM) Exactly why there is no prospect or set of them I'd deal sale for. If the Cardinals want to give you Taveras, Adams, Carlos Martinez, Wong and Rosenthal for Sale and Alexei, I would say yes

The Sox/Twins Non-Sweep Aspirational Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) after the uproar that will be had when we sell off, a couple of free agents aren't making a difference. I disagree, I think our fan base is smart enough this year to know that changes need to be made to the core of this team. With PK gone after this year, it's really going to be a new era for the Sox.

Do you want Ventura back as manager next year?
I give Hahn credit for not pouring a ton of resources into this particular team. To be honest, the plan was to probably go young this season heading into last year, but then after they competed all season, it would have looked a lot worse to just blow things up. It will be a lot easier after this year to go young.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:47 PM) Had no idea that the Sox were even playing this afternoon. It's pretty sad when I would rather watch NBA games or the NHL when I really don't care much about either sport, but still prefer the drama/excitement of any sport played well compared to what has become of this White Sox season. Wait, you prefer watching the NBA or NHL Finals instead of June baseball game?

The Sox/Twins Non-Sweep Aspirational Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) I think when stuff starts going down around the trade deadline, C will probably be one of the positions they make a move at. If it were me in that chair I'd want Phegley to get a look at big league pitching with more than an occasional at bat before next year, to help decide whether to give him the position or spend money there. So you think they go with Flowers/Phegley the last few months? That would make sense, as I agree it would be nice to have some type of idea whether or not Phegley is overmatched at this level.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:40 PM) I understand the buzzword this season is accountability, but they have given everyone on the roster a shot and the same things occur when they come in as well. Since we are not in the clubhouse, it seems unfair to think there is no conversation going on. It's not like Alexei Ramirez has had his head completely in the game his entire career up until now. What I don't get is using the same lineup game after game when you have the worst offense in the AL. Ventura flat out admits that Alexei's lack of power is probably due to batting 2nd, but he's hesitant to make any changes. One game, he made all sorts of changes and they scored 4 off of Felix Hernandez. The next game, it was back to normal and has stayed with the normal lineup. Nothing about De Aza's season shows that he's a leadoff hitter, but they seem scared to make any changes there as well.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:38 PM) Don't worry, now that Flowers's hot streak seems to have ended, the people who have been saying he's sucky and a failure and should be replaced will get their way pretty soon. He's still swinging better at the plate than he was a month ago, but his failures behind the plate are worse than ever. He's not very good, but I'm still convinced he'll get this entire year to try and win a spot on the roster next season.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) What I don't understand is the posters who think losing is the best still complain when they lose. Shouldn't the losing make you happy if that is what you think is best? Losing is probably what's best for the organization based on how the first few months have gone, but it doesn't mean we don't want to see development by players that can help the club in the future (ie: Flowers' catching ability, Viciedo being able to hit RHP, etc.). When the same stupid mistakes happen game after game and no one is held accountable, it's frustrating to see as a fan.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) That was a pathetic inning. Sox have phoned it in under Robin. The team can't be THIS bad. Some of this is mental. I completely agree with you. This team makes losing seem way too easy.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) Nobody is stopping you from hoping they win. It's not like I get upset when they win right now. There are those who want to lose, but for me, I just don't care when they lose right now. I really don't care about the results of the game. I enjoy watching them still (to an extent), and you want players to do well, but the win or the loss really doesn't matter. I root more for individual players, such as Beckham, Viciedo, Flowers and the pitching staff.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:05 PM) I know, but I'm just saying some of us understand all the reasons people want the Sox to lose, lose, lose. It's like guys like Steve have to educate us on why we are morons for not desiring another loss. Some of us don't care about the draft and would prefer living in the present and not having a clownish team. It takes too long for draftees to make it to the bigs, hence I don't care. I'd rather win games and watch games and not have to puke at an overmatched team. Again, they are an overmatched team. It's one of the worst teams in the majors and has one of the worst farm systems in the majors. I think you're overestimating how long it takes top college players selected in the draft to make it to the majors these days. If the Sox drafted someone like Rodon next year, I don't see him lasting longer than a full year in the minors.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) In other words, please let us root for the Sox to win if we like to live in the present and win games. You may think we're stupid, but some of us don't give a flying f*** about the draft compared to winning baseball games and not being an embarrassment of a team on a daily basis. I sure would have liked to have the chance to take Appel, Gray or Bryant this year compared to Tim Anderson. I have high hopes for Anderson, but the top 3 in the draft had unreal talent. The Sox organization needs a significant upgrade in talent, and if losing an extra couple of games this year gives them a better opportunity to acquire it, then lose away. If you think a team winning 66 games compared to 72 games is going to make any difference with attendance, then you don't understand this fan base.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) Also, Danks has given up four homeruns today. If he pitched a full year, he'd likely lead the AL in HR allowed. It's going to be a very, very long comeback for Danks to become even an average pitcher.
