6/2 - Sox at A's
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 10:52 PM) Alright, I take back any nice thing I've ever said about Jordan Danks. His defense has been mediocre at best since joining the Sox. Maybe the most overrated defensive prospect in a long time for the Sox.

Ha, goes to show you how much confidence Ventura had in the Sox scoring in the top of the 9th.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 10:45 PM) At the very least, it's going to be an interesting July once they know it's over. Saw a blurb on mlbtraderumors earlier today that scouts think Rios is one of the top available players.

Haha, this offense is ridiculous. The Sox 6-7-8-9 hitters in their lineup very likely will be in the minors soon.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:38 PM) Wouldn't shock me if Cooper is our next manager If that means he wouldn't have to do his weekly Thursday radio interview, then sign me up!

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) Yup, all 24 year olds that aren't Mike Trout suck. Mike Trout at age 24 might weigh 300 lbs and hit 50 homers

Come on Oakland, bring in Neshek to face Danks!!!!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:30 PM) A lot of stupid things have happened, but defensively Keppinger/Greene for Beckham has made a huge difference. Dunn for Konerko has made a big difference. Flowers for AJ hasn't had the defensive upgrade I read on this board was guaranteed. De Aza has slid since last year, and Viciedo while making some nice plays and throws, still is a guy who probably is never going to be a plus defender and he has very little experience. I think the coaches and manager have been fine. If your are going to be consistent, then you have to say Cooper needs to go because a good deal of the bullpen can't throw strikes. You wouldn't see me upset if they cleared house and started from scratch with the whole coaching staff after this season (including a new clubhouse atmosphere with Konerko gone). Cooper's done a great job here, but sometimes change is best for everyone.

Bob Melvin must have fun getting to play the percentages in all of these match-ups the last two days.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:24 PM) I think he's a garbage player, but that's just me. It's hard to tell, but that's why I mentioned about the chance of him having a GM that's enamored with him and might be willing to give up a lot for him. There's no one else on the team I'd rather have up against a LHP, but unfortunately there aren't a lot of LHP in the AL Central.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:22 PM) Sale knows he is supposed to back up the play. He went back there but for some reason, the first base side. I don't see how his stupidity is on any coach or manager. But wouldn't you agree these things have happened far too often this season (after rarely happening last year)?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:20 PM) Viciedo on pace for a whopping 12 homers and 39 RBIs. (he was injured though) Viciedo is a career. 224 hitter vs RHP and a .356 hitter vs LHP. Bernstein was talking about his swing this week and how he makes no adjustments with his hands, etc. based on where the pitch is.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:20 PM) He's earned the right to show us how terrible he can be. As long as he gets his chance and then isn't in the organization's plans after this year, that's fine (assuming he continues to be awful)

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:18 PM) What I don't understand is you say the Sox are loaded with bad plyers. Have a lot of players who simply can't hit. Then say the coaches are responsible for the bad record. I really don't know of anyone who can coach bad players to a great result. Yes they have a lot of bad players, but they also play the game incredibly stupid. It doesn't take skill to know how when to back up the catcher or when to throw to the lead base or not. The Sox this year just look like a team that doesn't care and have a terrible thought process on how to attack pitchers, etc.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:15 PM) I have no idea why Flowers did not stop that ball? Cause he is a terrible player.

Flowers played that terribly....shocking

More awful fundamentals by the Sox. What a poorly coached team.

Ace like pitches by Sale.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) Why would Ventura want to come back next year? Why would anyone want him back? He probably doesn't and who knows if they even do

What's Sale's velocity been like? Only seen him throw a few pitches today.

A's about to score here. Can't be walking the leadoff hitter.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 10:05 PM) Ill give Manto a few more days if we lose this game. He'll just not be brought back with most of this staff after the season, IMO

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) The problem is we don't have many prospects worth developing. Quintana and Santiago. The rest, Viciedo, Reed, Flowers, and Jones, if the Sox lost any of them, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If Viciedo has huge value on the trade market, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him dealt. He's regressed defensively this season and I don't think he'll be a quality 1B.

Well, when Mitchell goes on twitter and sees Keith Law state he's a release candidate, he should feel a lot more loved by the Sox.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) I am sorry it is June offense is what it is. The talent level sucks on this Sox offense. Far too many players on the roster that can't hit both LHP and RHP. Guys like Keppinger, Flowers, Wells and Viciedo should only be starting against LHP. Dunn and Gillaspie should only be starting against RHP. Just a poorly constructed roster.
