QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) Verlander career postseason ERA - >5.5 Career August ERA - 4.2 Career September ERA - 3.8 JVINAA This is silly, as no one considered Verlander an ace until 2009. Since that time, he's been very good in August and September.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) Why use Santiago on short rest over Liriano last night. That is my point. I wonder if that's the most pitches anyone has thrown on short rest this year? 90+ pitches on a Sunday, 50+ pitches on Wednesday.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 04:20 PM) I'm not, I just said no one here says Peavy is an ace considering the surgery he had. Verlander is considered an ace, but the things pointed out that supposedly prove Peavy was never an ace seems very similar to things that could be pointed out about Verlander. So 3 runs tonight, JVINAA. What's Verlander's record vs the Sox over the last 4 years? Peavy's been beaten up all year by 3 of the 4 teams in the AL Central.
  4. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) If you use Liriano in a 3-2 game in the 8th on Tuesday you come back with him yesterday. Either you have a plan or you don't. I am starting to think they are making things up as they go along. This goes for the line-up, pinch hitting and the bullpen usage. Using the AAA pitchers to then go to the veterans is asinine. They couldn't pitch Liriano because he's going to have to start on Friday now after wasting Santiago yesterday.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 04:54 PM) Where are you putting the make up game? Monday? Yes
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) Tigers fans will be happy to learn Ryan Rayburn is on the DL.
  7. A rain out would be awesome. Allows everyone to watch the Bears game, but more importantly, it prevents Sox from facing Verlander (likely would get Fister in the make up game) and would give Sale an extra day of rest (and allow him to face the Twins, a team he matches up well against).
  8. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,1331870.story So he wanted to give Prince a different look than Veal? How does that explain letting Cabrera pick up his 3rd hit in as many ABs against Omogrosso? Omogrosso got away with probably 10 hangers in his outing on Sunday, and now it seems he's been promoted to "reliable reliever".
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) Lefties are 4/26 against Leyson Septimo after last night Yep, he's great against them in low pressure situations. As I mentioned earlier, hitters are now 3-6 with 2 homers and 5 walks against him in high leverage situations.
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 06:14 AM) Fathom, add to your list Hudson being allowed to represent the tying run at the plate with 2 outs in the ninth. Thing is, it's not like Beckham, Viciedo or Flowers match up well with Valverde's 95 mph fastball. I'll give Ventura a pass for that decision, as Hudson hit Valverde very hard in Detroit.
  11. So Ventura said he didn't use Veal in the 7th to face Fielder because he felt it was too early and that Prince had seen Veal too much this series. I guess he had no problem allowing Cabrera to face Omogrosso for the second time in this series? There's no reason to save Veal for later in a game if you still have Thornton lurking as well.
  12. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 05:21 AM) The biggest mystery is there are a two other coaches on this bench and stupid decisions still come about. Don Cooper continues to support Septimo and his 3-6, 2 homers and 5 walks allowed in high leverage situations this year (stat taken from WSI)
  13. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 03:56 AM) About what percentage were Sox fans? Who cares if it goes to next year's payroll
  14. Almost 31k tonight, impressive
  15. I believe that's 39 games finished for Myers. He needs 6 more for option to kick in. I don't think he gets it.
  16. -Youk proved he can hit Benoit - Using Septimo over Veal is a decision that I can't even imagine there being a logical explanation for - Why is Omogrosso being used as the sacrificial lamb against Cabrera? - Not having a lefty warming up in the pen when Omogrosso was facing Cabrera with Prince up next is the type of thing that is inexcusable - Having Santiago throw over 50 pitches after two days rest since his last start where he threw over 90 pitches is absolutely ridiculous With the team struggling and injuries playing a big part, you hope your coaching staff can help you pull out games you probably don't deserve to win. Instead, it's causing the Sox to lose games they have a chance to win.
  17. Hey caulfield, how many games finished for Myers now?
  18. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 04:41 AM) Then Johnson should start tomorrow. He needs to be starting against any righty the Sox face.
  19. QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 04:39 AM) Sad that we're in a pennant race and we have Orlando Hudson hitting in a big situation. A failure in someone's part...whether it's Keenly or Robin. We had a lineup on Sunday with Rey Olmedo and Jose Lopez starting. When you think about it, it's amazing this team is where they are.
  20. According to Chuck Garfien, it doesn't sound like Dunn's returning anytime soon. He's afraid of making the injury worse.
  21. Swing the f***ing bat. He is such a waste of space on this roster. No idea why he wasn't looking for the fastball, as he swung over seemingly 10 offspeed pitches tonight. Hopefully the rookie manager learned not to manage a 3-1 deficit as if your team is losing 15-1.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 03:32 AM) Power hitter, please. Nope, must mean Dunn's still in a lot of pain.
  23. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 03:32 AM) Ghost rider strikes again. When's the last time Viciedo reached 3 times in a game vs RHP?
  24. Heck of a game for my man Dan
  25. Sox manufactured that run nicely
