  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) This ump is terrible, for and against Marmol. For three years, I've suggested Marmol gets a bigger plate than anyone. You usually don't see guys so wild get the benefit from the umps as much as he does.
  2. Johnson dive to catch the ball?
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Reed Johnson just saved Marmol an XBH given up. Quade smart to not have Soriano out there right now in LF. It's unreal the seasons that Johnson and Baker are having. I'm happy we're only pitching one lefty against them.
  4. Yankees fans having a meltdown over getting shut down by Doug Davis.
  5. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) You gettin' some info, or just a gut? No info, I just think a bad weekend by Pierre and it will be Viciedo time.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) I assume Doug Davis would be facing the Sox on Wednesday. We all know how well the Sox usually fare against "crafty" lefties. Be nice if Viciedo will be in the lineup, and I think he just might be.
  7. The Wendy's Caramel Apple Vanilla Frosty's are top notch
  8. Seriously Yankees, getting no hit thru 3 by Doug Davis? Thanks Ron Roenicke for waking up the Cubs. They win this series, and they'll come into the Cell with a lot more confidence than they had a week ago.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) You're seriously using a nickname as a reason? And now you're changing from "decent" to "good". With Dayan's offensive potential, if he provides decent defense with a cannon arm that will be sufficient Heck, for as bad as Soriano's defense was for the Cubs a few years ago, teams were still scared to run on him on a single to left.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) I am guessing, but can you envision a guy named "Tank" being a good defender? I'm still all for bringing him up now. Can you imagine a speedy outfielder having no range and not knowing how to catch a ball?
  11. Lillibridge would be a good match-up against Hudson, as he's mostly a fastball/change-up pitcher. Lillibridge seems to struggle more with the pitchers that can throw offspeed pitches in the dirt.
  12. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) Be careful here. We may be seeing Dunn in LF sometime in the next few days. Should be fun! Oh darn, is he going to have a weak arm and drop fly balls and be scared of the wall?
  13. Since the A's series, seems like we're going to be facing a lot of teams playing some of their best ball of the year. Twins/Dbacks/Cubs/Nats. Hey Ozzie, do not pitch to Upton in a walkoff situation.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) Who has been riding Edwin's dick? Scott Kazmir
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) Yeah but also get ready for some butcher work in the outfield, similar to Juan, maybe even worse. You can't convince me the Tank is going to be a decent defender. You cannot be worse defensively than Pierre has been this year.
  16. Gotta love the big budget battle between Cubs and Yankees with a pitching match-up of Garcia vs Doug Davis.
  17. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) It's actually hilarious Viciedo hasn't been on there this year. I do agree with this. Too often this year, it's been a resource to promote Royals/Rays prospects. I know their farm systems are great, but they seem to favor those guys more.
  18. It seems like we haven't had anyone make the Hot Sheet this year, but finally Eduardo Escobar showed up this week. Problem is, it was in the "not hot" section.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Someone needs to be bound for the Bullpen. That will work itself out tonight
  20. Big fan of the new Mango Pineapple Smoothies at McDonald's. Their desserts keep getting better and better.
  21. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Juan Uribe without a doubt. I still love seeing Willie Harris out there as well. I'm a huge fan of Granderson and Teixeira as well. Kinda ironic that two of my favorite, nicest guys in sports happen to be on the Yankees.
  22. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) I just don't understand the logic of this organization when the damn GM comes out and says this dude is ready. Then bring him the f*** up and sit Juan Pierre. I said this last week, but it sure seems like KW's way of throwing Ozzie under the bus.
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 04:30 PM) Can you say that he has put together good teams that have consistently been in contention for the playoffs? This is my criteria for a good GM. This of course is subjective. Instead of looking at each individual transaction (trade, FA signing etc.) can he build overall good teams? I really don't care overall how he builds the team as long as he can build a good team. does his success in getting Rameirez and possibly Viciedo (we still don't know how successful he will be in the majors), negate his "lack of winning trades." It's fun to discuss the individual transactions but that isn't the important overall outcome. Winning is. He's put together good, but not close to great teams. With our increased payroll since 2005, I would think that more GMs than not would be able to get us into the playoffs more than once in the next 5 years. I think a big reason for the frustration with KW is how bleak the future looks for this organization due to the poor trades, awful farm system, and bloated contracts. If we had a lot of money coming off the books this year with the current core we have and a solid farm system, I doubt people would be calling for KW's head as much.
