  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) Yay! Bobby Jenks is in the dugout. Maybe he was giving AJ and Ozzie helpful advice about pitch selection that inning. Glad he's earning his $7.5 million somehow. According to the AP, Jenks is at the game to receive his AL Central ring for the Twins.
  2. Jeez, Quentin hit that ball extremely hard. Hopefully he's ok.
  3. Quentin would be a beast if he ever was able to capitalize on hanging offspeed pitches.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) It's because not all of us are so privy to the inside workings of the clubhouse Oh, that sounds so familiar to what some idiot on the radio likes to say. There were actually quotes though earlier in the year where Konerko said they've learned to just let Ozzie be Ozzie, and not worry about his antics.
  5. That was impressive bat speed by Konerko...congrats on #30!
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) Ozzie's going to lose it. In a big f***ing way. Ha, I can't believe there are still people that think Ozzie's words mean anything anymore to the players.
  7. Haha, brilliant pitch call by AJP to try and pick the runner off of 3rd.
  8. KW, PLEASE DON'T WASTE MONEY ON MANNY! Save the money for the draft...oh wait
  9. Wow, what a joke. Danks throwing batting practice when getting 2 strikes on hitters. I'm really not sure how anyone ever holds this Twins lineup down.
  10. Wow, blown strike 3 call results in a home run for Hudson. This is going to be very, very painful.
  11. Baker with easy inning. One positive is Rios avoided the DP since no one was on base.
  12. Rock, does it make you feel better that at least Berkman has sucked with the Yankees so far?
  13. Teahen is 10-29 in his career vs Baker, while Kotsay is 2-12
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) And Baker tends to throw a? high fastball!
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) Sox record 2002 - 6-9 2003 - 2-5 2004 - 2-7 2005 - 7-6 2006 - 4-8 2007 - 4-2 2008 - 2-6 2009 - 1-8 2010 - 2-5 30-56 in the second half This should really be the end of this thread
  16. Funny thing is that Teahen, at least to my eyes, is a much better high fastball hitter than a low fastball hitter (Kotsay is the opposite).
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 06:07 PM) Duensing has had 5 starts. I think it's a little premature to say he's completely stabilized their rotation. Compared to what Blackburn was giving them? Blackburn was killing their bullpen (similar to what Garcia is doing for us now). With the Twins, every game it seems like they just have to use some combo of Crain, Capps, and one or two others. They haven't even needed much with regards to a long man, which Duensing and Burnett were for them.
  18. I'd love to know what the Twins record against the Sox has been post-ASB since Gardenhire was their manager.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) In the end, KW is the general manager and he is allowed to make his own decisions. Ozzie may have been the one who convinced him to not take Thome, but KW still gets all the credit or the blame for personnel moves. 99% of the time, I'd agree with you. However, the situation with the 2010 Sox is extremely unique, and we talked about it before the year how it almost seemed like KW was trying to set up Ozzie to be the fall guy if this offensive (in more than one way) strategy didn't work.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) That was the guy he shot down as an injury risk right? Oh yes
  21. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) No matter who was managing the White Sox, we would still kick the NL's ass, and our team would still be constructed with holes in it because our GM tells us we have to live with choices like Mark Kotsay for budgetary reasons. What?? You mean the same GM that was willing to bring back Thome, but Ozzie said no? Ozzie was the person who towards the end of last season, he said re-signing Kotsay was the team's top priority as soon as the season ended.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) I believe you get compensation through the 1st 4 rounds. But that is off the top of my head. And I will be interested in seeing how this ups Loux price. He's a talented project. After watching The Club, I would say there's no chance KW invests money in Loux.
  23. QUOTE (Big Daddy Kool @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) Haven't they gone about improving the minors in a more determined way/shift of philosphy the last 3 years? They've taken players with higher ceilings with their first picks, but besides that, there's been very little in terms of organizational changes. Still not drafting Boras clients or going above slot recommendation for picks.
  24. QUOTE (Ranger @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 06:55 AM) Eh. Minnesota is good, but I think some people overrate them. Their offense is better than what the Sox have, but their pitching is simply not comparable. Seriously? If anything, people underrate the heck out of their starting pitching. Replacing Blackburn for Duensing has completely solidified that rotation.
  25. Tigers spending a ton of money again to sign Castellanos, Ruffin, and their 2nd round pick.
