This is Why I Love Ozzie; Don't Deny You Love Him Too
fathom replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't care Beckham tried to bunt. What I do care about is that he has so little confidence in himself to get a base hit without having to bunt. Hit a f***ing line drive Gordon! -
HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
fathom replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) But in general, this year was absolutely set up perfectly for the Hawks to win it all, especially with the way things played out in the playoffs after the Nashville series. Even if the Hawks win another Cup in the near future (which they certainly could), I doubt they'll have things setup for them as well as they did this year all things considered. That's why (beyond the obvious factors) it was so important they get it done THIS YEAR, and to their credit they did. Reminds me of another team -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) Jerry isn't going to get publicly involved in this. It isn't his style. Many think he already has taken over the situation behind the scenes, but like you said, those expecting public decries from him are going to be disappointed.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Wouldnt that mean that Kenny is on his way out then? yes
-
QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 08:17 AM) He hits the ball hard though.. Nevermind the Cubs didn't want him and the A's didn't want him either, but he would fit perfect starting somewhere for us.. The Cubs wanted him, but they had to give him up in order to shed Miles' contract.

Over .500 and within 5 games by the end of the month!
fathom replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:34 AM) Well if we are paying all of the remaining contract perhaps with just giving up Hudson and Viciedo would suffice? Granite its likely not going to happen as Milwaukee is going to ask for a hole hell of a lot more and KW does not want to give up on this starting rotation. . well at least not yet. First things first- get to .500 and then we can reavaluate. There is 99 games remaining. How can you give up Hudson with the hole in the rotation looming with Garcia and possibly Danks/Buehrle in a year or two? -
Reinsdorf has an amazing bond with Ozzie. If Reinsdorf calls the shots, Ozzie will be here for as long as he wants.

Amazing game going on between Arkansas and Arizona St. Arkansas was one strike away from being eliminated, but Eibner hit a bomb off of Jordan Swaggerty. Az St. has a set-up man, freshman Jake Barrett, that reached 97 mph.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:58 AM) Gavin Floyd did not swallow his gum in the first when Herm ran out to the mound. The real reason: Gavin's cup was pinching his balls. Is this true? -
QUOTE (bobryansson @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:00 AM) I know that every one that could have an influence on this has said that it won't happen, but I STILL think it'd be an improvement defensively and stir the pot offensively if Alexei and Gordon swapped positions. I know it's been discussed here ad nauseum, but I couldn't stand to go through this thread without at least mentioning it. Beckham has 7 errors at 2b. He'd probably have 12-13 if he played SS.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:32 AM) It's been over 200 PA since Beckham last homered. He has 8 extra-base hits in about 230 PA this season, through 230 PA last season he had 25 XBH (19 2B, 6 HR) and was hitting .308/.376/.493/.868. Wow, that's depressing. Good stuff kalapse!

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:31 AM) Strasburg should get a kick out of watching video of our offense as he prepares for Friday. We can't hit mediocre pitchers. We need the return of Brian Anderson for that game.

I can't thank Juan Pierre enough for making this just another loss. -

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:22 AM) your probably right. but a guy with a high OBP to plug in the 5 hole is just what the team needs. Fielder recently rejected a HUGE offer from Milwaukee so he would certaintly be a rental player for 1.5 years. So why would he be a good fit for this Sox team that's looking to reload/rebuild next year? Why use up all of our expendable money on one player? -
I saw that Jake Fox was DFA'd by the A's. I was a huge fan of his last years. Could be a good bat to acquire for nothing if we go young.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:57 AM) .250/.331/.415/.746 line over the first 1360 PA of his career for A Gordon. But could you imagine how many more homers he'd have at the Cell?

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:50 AM) What 8+ spots ? 1B, back-up catcher, DH, 2 other bench spots, possibly 3 relief positions -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:49 AM) I have it from VERY good sources. Look at you go!
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:43 AM) As of Friday, there is/was no interest in AJ at all. Link? Just kidding...you seem pretty confident in that.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:46 AM) Your best idea since you've been on this board. It makes sense, especially with Jose Guillen in the last year of his deal. If Gordon turns it around at 3b, then you move Teahen to RF. I also want Alex Gordon and Gordon Beckham batting back-to-back to match the Dodgers with Casey Blake and Blake Dewitt.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:43 AM) Quentin too. I would try trading him for Alex Gordon...who knows how much another team likes him.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:43 AM) They will not get the return for him. I think they offer arbitration. Flowers is making the choice to not trade him easy at this point. They would never offer him arb. Better chance they give him a 2 year extension than arb. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:43 AM) Alexei had 6 sacrifice bunts last year and has 11 in his career. (I have no idea how many attempts). 8500 attempts -
Greg Walker is an absolutely terrible hitting coach for young players. Beckham and Quentin could easily be the next in line of guys who just busted big time on the Sox, along with Fields, Caruso, etc. Beckham worries me more than Quentin, as at least Quentin hits the ball hard occasionally.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:41 AM) They are not trading him. Kenny is pretty easily fooled into thinking that any teams is a winner just lurking to break out. A nice little run against bad NL teams might get some prospects shipped off for our run that will never appear. I actually agree, and it's more likely he gets traded in a month or so.
