Tigers Sign Damon - 1 yr, 8 mil; NTC
QUOTE (supernuke @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:16 PM) Enjoy Detroit Mrs. Damon. He'll be in Detroit for 3 months, and after the Tigers struggle this season, he'll be traded to an AL East team for a mid-level prospect.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) The Cell is a better home-run hitting ballpark then Yankee Stadium. In fact, the Yankee Stadium home run park factor isn't even that remarkable. For a dead pull hitter like Damon, new Yankee Stadium was a haven for him.

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) I'd rather have Dye That bridge has been burned. I also think Ozzie would rather play Kotsay than him. I don't think Ozzie realizes that even though Jones and Kotsay look like they should be fast, they're not much quicker than Dye is on the bases.

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) Welp, with this news, and Branyan signing with the Indians, I guess Jones/Kotsay is now set. Terrible. Blalock's still out there, but with being a Boras client, I can't see that happening.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) If Damon wants to play for the Sox at $6M he will. If he calls up Kenny and says he'll accept the deal KW won't tell him sorry no we already pulled it. If he takes Detroit's deal at $7M he would have taken theres anyways. This is all assuming these reported offers are correct. KW probably just got sick of Borass' antics said enough with it. If Damon really wants to play here and is willing to accept that offer he knows how to get a hold of KW. After actually reading Levine's article (I have to go wash my hands), this was nothing more than a negotiating ploy by KW.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) I dunno man I doubt the sox want to add someone or negotiate stuff once spring training starts. They already said they don't care if they make moves during Spring Training. That came out during the Thome situation.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) I think its pretty obvious that this is the direction the organization is heading I think no one has any clue what the organization is planning on doing. Two weeks ago, we were sure they wouldn't be going after any other DHs after Thome wasn't brought back.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) This is probably the most effective bit of gamesmanship that KW could have pulled. It's really crafty. We should probably wait before we start patting KW on the back for his strategy. If Damon ends up signing a 1 year deal for 6 million with the Tigers because the Sox pulled out, then KW's move will have backfired.

Rock was dead on with the Viciedo stuff last offseason. If you folllow closely, you'll know what part of the front office his source works in.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) You dont have to believe my sources. Not a big deal. No need to try and make fun of me though. Yeah Rock, it's not like you haven't been dead on with a handful of things the last two years!!

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 04:22 AM) what was that about having no chance in hell to win? Wisconsin's going to be the 4-5 seed in the tourney that everyone picks to lose to a 12 seed. Bo Ryan must be a hell of a coach, cause that team's talent is pretty mediocre.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 01:34 AM) So we went from front runners to being where we were about 3 days ago. Sigh... I wonder who Boras bribed in the Sox front office to tell Cowley and Gonzales that the team is confident they'll sign him?

http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...n-decision.html All signs seem to be pointing to Detroit, especially with AJP bringing up the Spring Training location issue. At this point, I just want a decision. I still think Blalock could be a cheaper, and potentially better option.

Exhibit number 1,050 why Bruce Levine is a tool: on the radio today, he said that even though Damon has told people the Sox are the team he wants to play for, Levine also made a comment that he's probably told that to Detroit players as well. Do you know how many f***ing times Levine has said something along the lines of "X player only wants to play for the Cubs"!!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 11:54 PM) If you've heard what I've heard, you'd know that it would be foolish to give up on Adrian. The Sox have tried on multiple occasions and as of now the asking price is too high in their minds. That could change though, you never know. It is cause the asking price is too high, or the Padres just are looking for every excuse not to trade him yet? Reports out of Boston are that he's not available.

I wish people would give up on getting Adrian Gonzalez. It's obvious that when he's available, Boston will be the heavy favorite to get him. They have better prospects at nearly every position, as well as the payroll to give him the extension a team will want to give him before trading for him.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) The thing is there roster has very little to offer in the way of enticing free agents Do they really need other players to entice free agents? They have the money, the NY media, and the up-tempo coach. They could have a team full of Aaron Gray's, and they'd still be a contender for Free Agents.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) In 2005, we were the most complete team. Though we didn't grab amazing players, each spot was filled with a competent player. In years since, it seems a sure thing to go in with a s***ty spot, and it hurts the team. It's true...last year at this time, we were b****ing about Wise being in CF. We all know how that worked out.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) This post needs to be framed and hung immediately. Agreed, and just wait until his next contract. He'll be one of the most overpaid players as well.
