  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) This Tony Pena sighting has not gone well. That 88 mph slider does not seem to be a very good pitch. Seems to be up in the zone an awful lot.
  2. Might be time to pull Poreda if you want to try and comeback in this game. He continues to remind me so much of Neal Cotts when he got called up, it's not even funny. If Poreda tried to start a game in the majors, he'd need 100 pitches to get past the 4th inning.
  3. Damn, got a good pitch, but tried to pull it. He's been in ultra-pull mode this series.
  4. Oh Jermaine, hit a bomb please! They're going to throw him sliders on the outside corner. He needs to drive it to right center.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) How about a HBP> Damn, Pods hit that ball hard.
  6. The ASB is coming at a good time for Pods, as he seems just a tad tired. His bat speed has been down this week, which is totally acceptable given how active he's been the last few months.
  7. Wow, huge break there!
  8. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:03 PM) nix has raked lefty's this yr though...you have to have him PH I like your thinking
  9. That a boy Getz! He's so much better when he tries to pull the ball instead of shooting it to left.
  10. Viciedo has had an awful month of July. I've been pretty critical of him this season (I think a lot of it had to deal with the expectations the organization had for him THIS YEAR). He needs to have a strong 2nd half for a lot of reasons.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) That was the worst slide into second I have ever seen. Out of the inning. "You're gonna call that"?
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) taking our lumps - going to be that way all season. but in the end, gordo will be great I still wished he ended up being our 2nd baseman (due to his hitting ability compared to others at his position), but it seems like he's the 3rd baseman of the future.
  13. Poreda escapes that 85 pitch inning without allowing a run.
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) Hell is having to watch every Sox/Twinkles game being called by the atrocious Bremer Blyleven duo... Beckham needs to move from 3rd Where are you going to move him? Getz/Nix combo is doing good at 2nd base.
  15. Your daily Beckham botched grounder. That should not be an error, but his success rate on tough plays has got to be like 5%.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) The funny thing is Poreda is known around here for his gas, and a lot of people want him to replace Richard, yet, ironically, Richard throws harder than him. If you didn't know better, when you watch Poreda, would you even think he was a prospect? Average fastball, poor location, bad secondary pitches.
  17. Wasn't on the site 5 minutes ago, but way to go Thome!
  18. Time for my Poreda comment from every appearance: if you can get good value for him, I have no problem trading him. I have no idea who was working the radar guns for him, but his velocity has become an urban legend.
  19. Good stuff there. Buehrle sure did suck today.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) It was only a few years ago, 2004 I believe when espn quoted a scout saying they couldn't get times for any White Sox going down to first base, because they, as a team, rarely ran it out. Konerko, Thome and Beckham run everything out, athough Thome sort of pulls up occassionally with his heel problem. Everyone else, I've seen them all dog it to first. It was 2007 with that quote, I'm pretty sure.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) he said that??!! my god - just last week pods would've been safe after the pitcher bobbled a comebacker...that is, if he'd been running to first. yes, he said it's unfortunate it happens for some teams, but you never have to worry about it with the Sox.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) Home ump makes a horrible call on a force out at home, saying LaRue never touched the plate. Run scores. Next batter, the ball goes through Terminator's legs for 2 more. I refuse to believe the Cubs get a favorable call at home!
  23. Yep, bringing in Wellemeyer in a one run game basically sealed the game for the Cubs. This is shaping up to be just a terrible day heading into the All-Star Break.
  24. I know DAllen will share a laugh with me about Hawk saying you never have to worry about a Sox player dogging it to first on a ground ball.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) f*** the cubs and cardinals and umps. What happened?
