Newest BA mock draft has the Sox taking high school OF Everett Williams. I'd be thrilled with this, and then use 2 of the next 3 picks on college players.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) I thought his Canadian-model girlfriend settled him down. That was him right? I think so, but he's totally out of shape. Disappointing loss for the Dodgers today. The Cubs always seem to destroy teams from the 7th inning on at home. Maybe Broxton can go three innings sometime this weekend.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Come on Kemp. I feel like he is the team's most dangerous hitter w/o Manny. Have a 2-homer day. Has anyone noticed how fat Russell Martin is now? He really needs to cut down on the partying.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 29, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) I have Gregg on a fantasy team, so its a win-win, either I get a save or he blows a Cubs lead... Yep, one save is going to make the difference for your team.

The Dodgers definitely miss Manny when facing a lefty starter. This lineup today just has very little punch against a southpaw.

Latest Starter Linked to Sox in a Roundabout Way: Roy Oswalt

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 29, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) Someone reads SoxTalk. Yeah, I guess KW does, as he sent our special assistant to Houston. It had to be to see him, as they have virtually no one else that would be a fit for this team. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ May 29, 2009 -> 04:00 AM) Josh Hamilton, Evan Longoria.... I was obviously talking about closers.
-
That was a great ending. Hopefully we'll see Broxton a few times this series.
-
Jake Fox must have been on the Soto diet this past offseason. He's absolutely gigantic.
-
3 pitches, and 2 men on. What a freaking joke.
-
Jeez, Bradley with a bunt single to lead off the inning.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2009 -> 02:40 AM) The two instances are not even in the same universe. Get back to me when Mark bumps and umpire and fires a baseball into the OF after a large temper tantrum. Couldn't agree more. It was pissing me off hearing Chicago sports radio hosts trying to say Cooper is a hypocrite. Zambrano's antics were embarrassing to the game of baseball.
-
So the Dodgers have to let the pitcher bat with 2 outs and runners on 2nd/3rd in the 9th inning cause Broxton's out. I hate the NL.
-
f***, Broxton's not available to close out the game tonight. How comes this never happens to the other team when the Sox are playing?
-
Cubs coming back in the 8th. Dodgers relievers, besides Broxton, have good ERAs but underwhelming stuff.
-
For those not watch, Kasper and Brenly have been giggling like little girls about the Zambrano thing and making predictions on who will do something next. Stay classy jackasses.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:35 PM) He is an asshole. He acted like a huge baby in front of a million people. The Cubs should suspend him additional time for making them look like assholes as well. I'll lump Ted Lilly in there as well for leaving the dugout to tell an ump that he hasnt been concentrating when he isnt even pitching that day. It was a despicable act. Should have been a 10-15 game suspension. The worst thing is how many young Cubs fans idolize Zambrano, and they probably think it was cool.

The Sox need to go all WWE-style and start playing video montages about Slayer's upcoming arrival.
-
Brett Jackson scares me from California, as he's supposedly had a terrible season. I stand by my Mitchell prediction, especially after KW said he wants a speedy leadoff guy in this draft.

QUOTE (G&T @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) By the way, for anyone who questions Terry Boers' baseball knowledge or contacts (and there were a few in the Marquez thread), he said back in March Beckham would make it to the majors as a third baseman this season based on what he heard from his guys. IMO, the fact that the Sox had this plan in March speaks to the Sox thoughts on Fields. Terry Boers has someone very high up in the Sox organization giving him info. Two years ago, Boers was telling everyone that Thome's oblique injury was serious even though the word in the media was that it was nothing. The first swing Thome took that night, he was out for nearly a month.

The starting pitcher the White Sox WILL acquire

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) I think the best bet is for Peavy to change his mind closer to the deadline, because trading for any of the other pitchers mentioned on this forum is completely unrealistic. I can't believe some people here were happy we didn't get Peavy. I'm thrilled we didn't get him. No doubt in my mind that in 3 years, we'll be better off having Poreda, Richard, and Hudson in the organization than having Peavy making near 20 million. Give me those 3 guys, and spend the 20 million on other holes. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) Linebrink settled it. Peavy is a coward. I can't believe how naive some people were about the whole thing. The only way Peavy would ever be "comfortable" in the AL is if some team picked up his option or gave him an out clause. What a p****. I hope he gets traded to the Cubs and then blows out his elbow.

Beckham has a whopping 90% contact rate in the minors. Someone earlier asked how good is he, and I would say that I'll be surprised if by the time his career is done, he's not one of the best 10-15 players in Sox history (sadly, that's not saying much). It's just too bad it looks like it's going to be at 3rd base and not at SS or 2B.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 28, 2009 -> 04:20 AM) It was neck-high. Just a horrible pitch to swing at. It's 3-1, you HAVE to know not to swing since he was 3-1 unless it's right down the pipe. I'm more surprised he took 4 straight pitches. It's just AJP being AJP. Did anyone else notice how good Cleveland's hitting now? Mercy, we're playing better, and we're close to being in last place. Be nice to catch up to KC this weekend.
