  1. Walks him, booing has started. This is so depressing.
  2. Stone keeps also saying that if Contreras continues to drop down and throws it over the plate like he's doing, the Rangers are going to crush him. He's not even trying to throw forkballs now. Who would have thought Contreras would get Andruw Jones to a 1-2 count, and not even try to throw his only above average pitch?
  3. 2 steals already vs Contreras...AJP had a shot both times, but made bad throws.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 9, 2009 -> 12:17 AM) This is his 3rd hitter and I'm done. He's throwing 100% sidearm and getting behind, this is sink or swim time for Jose. At this rate his Sox career could be over by the 4th. Nice catch by Lillibridge, I thought that was gone off the bat.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 9, 2009 -> 01:15 AM) That's about all I need to see. This is f***ing disgusting.
  6. And just like that, Rangers are up 1-0. Thanks again for not skipping his start.
  7. Thanks for the update.
  8. Leadoff walk for Contreras. He's dropping down more than ever tonight.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 9, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) I also cannot see why people want to see more of Nix in the lineup. Are the raw tools any better than Lillibridge? At least Lillibridge had some success in the minors. Nix got cut by the Rockies. If you can't hit there you are in trouble. I'm not necessarily advocating for Lillibridge but I don't see Nix as that much better of an option. Nix looks like a 10 year MLB veteran compared to Lillibridge. Lillibridge is completely overmatched at the plate, and besides his speed, has no tools to really develop. I agree with you though, the Nix love will probably last another week at the most. Then, we'll hear calls again for Alexei in CF and Beckham at SS.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) This makes no sense...he looks defensively very, very legit at 2b/SS. Why in the world would we put him in CF? Especially with how Alexei was mediocre at best at SS.
  11. Ugh, stop finding ways to put Lillibridge in the freaking lineup. Alexei to CF makes too much sense for it to actually happen.
  12. QUOTE (G&T @ May 8, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) The Cubs have traded Gathright for Ryan Freel. Haha...a classy individual the Cubs have received.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) To that end, hasn't Paulie been a breath of fresh air this year? He's really working that right center gap. Yep, and making it look so easy. It almost makes me think that things were too easy for Quentin/Alexei last year, and they both came into the year thinking they'd hit 40/30 homers respectively, and forgot about hitting the ball the other way.
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:21 PM) Anyone know CQ's BABIP? He's hitting a lot of hard ones right at guys lately. Something to consider with CQ is if all the HBP have gotten to him, as he seems to be pulling off the ball more now than ever. That's resulting in tons of grounders to the SS. He'll be fine though, he's the last person on this team I worry about.
  15. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) So was Mike Caruso at one time.... just being the devil's advocate here nothing more than that. Huge, huge talent differential.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Ramirez will be in CF. The guy was fabulous last year. Fabulous. You don't give up on that after a month of the season. That said, if the right offer came along, knowing Beckham is in the wings, I would trade Ramirez for a young starting pitcher in a heart beat. I really, really hope they consider Alexei in CF. It would be a huge disaster to completely give up on him after one month, especially when he struggled last year at the beginning. I really thought he was putting together a nice week of games until the disasterous series in KC.
  17. As much as I agree with what KW said, sometimes it's better to keep this stuff out of the media. You don't want the umpires being on high alert and overreacting like they always seem to do. This is something that should have been taken care of by Ozzie already.
  18. And Dodgers have blown the lead, as they trail 8-6. That team's bullpen seems real shaky besides Broxton.
  19. QUOTE (Sockin @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:42 AM) Anyone hear what Beckham hurt? He left after flying out, so hopefully it's nothing serious.
  20. 0-5 with 4 strike outs for Berkman. The Astros might be the worst team in baseball besides the Nats.
  21. There's nothing better than a game where you score more runs in the 1st inning than the other team does for the whole game. Buehrle was very sharp on the mound tonight (obviously). We need to get to Harrison tomorrow, as he's just not a very good pitcher. I wonder if Ozzie will bench Alexei or play Nix over Getz at 2nd base?
  22. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:29 AM) Gameday had Jenks at 98. Are they wrong? Yes...he was 91-94mph tonight
  23. 0-4 with an error, 3 strike outs for Berkman. What a shock!!
  24. Dodgers at it again, 5-0 lead in the first.
  25. New Yankee Stadium is an absolute joke. 6 homers for Tampa tonight, including back-to-back off of Mariano in the 9th.
