QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 02:57 AM) Wow, what a brutal box score. I see Brent Lillibridge -- who's only purpose on the ML squad would be his defense -- committed 2 errors today he now has 3 on the spring, he also K'd a few times putting his spring BB/K at 1/20 extrapolate that over 600 AB and it comes out to 12 walks compared to 240 strikeouts. I'm not sure I've ever seen a .05 BB/K before. Hey, if he goes 0-4 w/ 4 K in his next game (hardly out of the realm of possibility) he'll have twice as many K's as total bases. I believe that's the definition of overmatched. Tonight's Chicagosports article says he's leading for the utility spot.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 02:45 AM) Corky has outhit Brinkman .176 to .172. They are basically the same. KW did the near impossible, he downgraded from a torn labrumed Toby Hall. It's amazing how he did nothing to upgrade the CF/leadoff position or the back-up catching position. Like you said, he basically did the near impossible this offseason.

Good call by D. Johnson leaving Oswalt in to die in the 4th inning.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 12:06 AM) Kroeger 2 for 2 . Am I nuts for entertaining thoughts of keeping Kroeger and one of Owens or Wise is gone ? There's been no buzz about Kroeger over the past few weeks making the big league team.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) I just wonder what has Lillibridge done last year and this spring to justify a roster spot? It's not to late for him to play in the Frontier League.

Anyone have insight into players declaring early or possibly transferring from their programs they follow? I assume Rock believes Mullens/Turner are long gone. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) What kind of "demeanor" should he have? I keep thinking back to Bobby Knights' "game face" rant. Complaining about every single call to the refs, shaking his head every time a teammate misses a shot, refusing to run back on defense when his other 4 teammates are to name a few. I still can't believe though that Marcus Jordan was the best player this weekend. Pretty impressive for him to deliver in the biggest spotlight he's faced. I wonder if he'll get new offers from bigger schools. They said last night he's between Oklahoma, Toledo, and Davidson. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) If a group of Illinois basketball players saved some kids from a burning bus, fathom would probably find a way to be critical of them, so keep that in mind. Would they have to call Wayne McClain and ask them what they should do next? -

I've said a few times now that Frazier seems like a great guy, while Mike Davis has the potential to be the best interior player for the Illini since Deon Thomas. With that said, Richmond's demeanor on the court is pathetic. My parents are actually Illini fans, and they couldn't believe his actions on the court when we saw him live last year. Note: I checked some of the Illini message boards, and I see I'm not the only person saying this about Richmond's antics last night. -
Syracuse matches up very well against Oklahoma. Oklahoma isn't a very good outside shooting team, and they have a few big bodies to match up against Blake.

I heard the other day from a friend of Corky Miller's that he will be the back-up catcher for the Sox. Should be official shortly. I didn't think it was possible to find a worse hitter than Toby Hall (during his Sox career).

4 yr contract extension for Floyd

The Sox have signed Kenny Powers to help in the bullpen.

Rick Hahn told Cowley his sources stink, and it's not big news that is being announced.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 21, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) He's ok. He'll find a mid major to go to. I have never really seen him have a good shooting game. Very strong to the hole though. He faces off against Jereme Richmond tonight for the state title. Very entertaining basketball at the IHSA championships. Marcus Jordan actually played superb basketball. As for Richmond...I know I'm biased, but he has the worst body language of any high recruit I've seen on a basketball court. This article basically sums it up: http://www.pjstar.com/sports/x599207872/No...ose-their-heads -
Fields is just great vs LHP

Not a good start for Buehrle.

After what seemed like 2 straight seasons of excellent episodes, the whole getting back to the island and the consequences has bored the crap out of me. Let's hope things pick up again.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 10:27 PM) How about Getz for leadoff, and Ramirez as the number 2. I understand that Ramirez has a low OBP, but he seems to feast on fastballs and CQ would provide protection behind him. That would be ideal.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) And sadly I have. Which is why I get so irritated when people believe Ozzie that OBP is his most important attribute to look for as a leadoff hitter.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) It was funny listening to Joe Cowley yesterday on the Score talking about the leadoff spot. He just assumes that Brent Lillibridge is going to make the team as a utility man however "he's going to get his fair share of playing time, he can leadoff, he has that kind of speed." I'm beginning to hate baseball or maybe it's just morons like Joe Cowley and Ozzie Guil . . . If you follow the crap coming out of the mouths of KW, Ozzie, etc. right now, you will get really pissed off.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) Poor kid just wasted away his best chance of starting in the big leagues. No offense, but I don't know of a single person besides you who really gave him much of a chance to be starting in the majors this season.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) "The Pope", Don Pall and, believe it or not, Josh Paul, the goat of the 2005 ALCS both stick out as south siders with a penchant for the team. John Ely is a huge Sox fan. I'm pretty sure Cliff Floyd and Granderson were Sox fans also.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) According to the experts, I dont see what the point is for Illinois to even fly out to Portland. Chester Frazier = Deron Williams and without him they are gonna get smoked by Western KY. I was thinking that last night...Chester Frazier's become the most overrated player in cbball history. Someone lumped his injury into that of Blake Griffin and Ty Lawson's. Frazier's a good defensive player and solid rebounder...but like you said, you would have thought he was a top 5 player in the country with all the attention given to his injury.
