  1. Wise in CF, and Swisher's in LF. No Griffey
  2. Edwin Jackson is a terrible match-up against the Twins.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/leede02.shtml Intereting, I never looked at Lee's numbers before. Yeah his '05 OPS + was about 50 points higher than his career average and about 40 points higher than his second highest seasons. Also his RC/G avg that year was about 4 runs greater than his career average. He's is still a solid player, especially with the sick defense he plays His defense has been awful this season (by his standards)...I believe he has double digit errors.
  4. Good start for Zambrano. So you're saying 110 pitches after returning from a sore shoulder isn't a good idea?
  5. Anyone hear the new Eddie Vedder song about the Cubs? It's just so cute!
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:06 AM) I'm personally not a fan of this because its suicide. Even if the Sox pitchers can do good on short rest over a couple stints we are just asking to have them all burned out come the post-season and at that point we'll be one and done anyway. Hope you can get quality 5th starts from Richard and stick on normal rest (thus ensuring that you put those 4 starters that are good in a good position to succeed both in the regular season and the post-season). Just my 2 cents though, especially when you factor in Floyd/Danks being young. It's just so unnecessary. Pitch Danks tomorrow, and everyone is able to stay on 4 days rest until at least next Friday. I think Danks has been better than Buehrle against the Twins this season anyways.
  7. QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 05:25 AM) I'm getting the Cotts against the Yankees feeling in 2003 all over again with this one. For the people that say it's up to the players to perform on the field, and management deserves no blame, this weekend is a situation where Ozzie should face a lot of scrutiny if Buehrle and Floyd suck. I pray for my sanity and this board's sanity that we don't have to discuss the effects of 3 days rest too much.
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 04:04 AM) I think this would be viewed as a hard fought div title race and not so terminal if it werent for the cheery, annoying kookiness going on w/ the northside fans We're letting it infect our brains and our rational thinking. We're up. That means thumbs up, and the next three nights are tougher for them. No one outside of Sox fans would give a s*** if we fail to make the postseason. Like you said, this city is going to be Cubbie gay in 10 days or so.
  9. This article makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I never thought I'd say this, but good for Ozzie and OC. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,7990801.story
  10. Thanks for those links Tony, there's some great stuff in there.
  11. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 04:18 AM) I don't care. Trot out any of our starters in any order and I think they will do fine, it is the rest of the club that leaves me stunned. I don't care what the order is, as long as it's on normal rest. Is there really that much of a difference between Danks and Buehrle that we have to pitch 3 straight pitchers on 3 days rest?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 03:46 AM) How or why the Yankees want it more than the White Sox, I'll never understand. Maybe they're simply not good enough. Thome and Griffey, we read about them being so excited to get to post-season play...where are they? Don't get me wrong, it was a very inisightful post. Assuming this team will win any particular game is difficult considering how bad our hitting is on the road and how much this bullpen sucks.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 03:33 AM) I have been one of the only seemingly positive people around here, but 2 of 3 isn't going to work for me. It's late September, the Sox are 1st in the division, and it's a last place team. I don't care how well they have been playing. Sox decided to drop 3 of 4 in NY. Fine, but now you have to sweep KC. It's sweep or bust. If you would give us 2 of 3 and just move on to Monday's day off, I'd sign up for that right now. That means that at the worst, you have a 1/2 game lead going into Minnesota. At best, you'd be up 3 1/2 games.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 03:32 AM) Wow, we have a 1.5 game lead against a team that just showed life for the first time in a month, that has three more games at the third best team in baseball, and the best home team in baseball, while we have three games at the third worst team in the AL, whose only two good pitchers wont face us, and this board sounds like the whole season is over....I mean, come on, I know, our chances in the playoffs are slim, but we are still in the drivers seat to win the division, when at the beginning of the year, no one picked us higher than third.....enjoy the pennant race and have some fun with the game of baseball!!!!! No, we're really not. Not with the 3 games looming at Minnesota. Anything less than a 1 game lead going there, and we're in a lot of trouble. You can throw KC's record out the window, as they're playing great, carefree baseball. It's pretty simple...if you can't score runs, you won't win.
  15. So I just saw that Buehrle is pitching tomorrow. Why are we not pitching Danks on his normal rest?
  16. Sure is a good thing Maddon used Balfour for 2 innings in a 10-3 game the day before.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 03:23 AM) Well our team in September is last in OBP, 2nd to last in OPS, 11th in runs scored and 12th in Batting average. Our offense is white hot right now. Brian Anderson is hitting the ball harder than anyone.
  18. BTW...it's too bad the Twins didn't bunt in the top of the 9th.
  19. This thread seems like such a potential jinx.
  20. And now we can say it's 1.5. When Adam Everett is doing that, you have to tip your cap. What a terrible job of managing by Maddon tonight.
  21. Good grief, Perez drops a deep fly ball. What a disasterous day.
  22. Leadoff man on for Twins in the 9th. I really don't like that they're not pitching Howell.
  23. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 01:50 AM) See Ramirez had a good ERA coming in here (no idea how smal that sample size was) but as a Royals reliever you gotta think those guys are coming into sooo many already-decided contests. Ramirez's numbers were inflated in a few extra inning games against the Sox. I was told his ERA is over 8 against the rest of baseball this year.
  24. Ramirez's WHIP is nearly 3 with the Sox, and it's scary how many close games he's been thrown into.
