  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 07:06 PM) Our top 3 are really killing the ball. Since the first game I saw in ST, O. Cabrera has looked terrible at the plate.
  2. I have no idea how both pitchers made it thru 5 innings...but please Ozzie, let the bullpen take it from here.
  3. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) another double play not turned. The defense has been terrible so far this season.
  4. Come on, get him out of the game! Be happy the Tigers haven't scored 10, and go to the pen.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) Do we have a sacfly so far this year? No...and our speed has cost us quite a few runs already.
  6. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) it's funny watching Tiger starting pitchers struggle, and we'll see a lot more of it with Dontrelle Willis tomorrow, because the Tigers are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Their bullpen is so bad this year it reminds me of ours last season. Unlike last year though with the Sox, the Tigers offense will be able to win them games though.
  7. Big batter here, should be the last of this game for Contreras.
  8. This could be the 2nd game this year in which a critical play in the game isn't made by Cabrera.
  9. I don't know what Ozzie is trying to prove with Contreras still being in this game.
  10. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) Who's going to replace him? We really missed the boat on not signing Colon. He's already up to 95 mph.
  11. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) god damn what the hell is he doing out there?? that fastball when he drops down is flat as a pancake he's so predictable....ughhhh For some reason, over the past two years, Contreras is given the longest leash of anyone in the rotation.
  12. Contreras has no business still being a starting pitcher in the AL. He'll be out of the starting rotation soon enough.

Fields is 0-3 with 3 K so far.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 12:56 AM) Wooo! last Big Ten team standing finishes off with a win. NIT CHAMPS!! (ugh) At least the sophs and frosh got some well needed experience. Turner, Buford, Crater and Mullens are going to be deadly next year, and Koufos if he comes back. Lauderdale may be a bigger piece than first thought as well. Koufos is most likely gone.
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 12:53 AM) I hate the Swisher/Vazquez commercial. I love the Konerko one. Maybe I missed something, but the Swisher/Vazquez commercial was one of the worst things I've ever seen. Haven't seen the PK commercial, but the concept sounds great.
  16. I read today that Taylor absolutely will not stay with Marquette. Him and Hurley are livid that Crean still hasn't contacted him. VT might have the lead for him now.
  17. Great win....I'm excited to go home and watch the full game on DVR.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) He is looking really good, for someone who has never seen MLB pitching.....great eye for walks; excellent OBP etc Which makes me mad because we offered him more money but could not have him because he wanted to be the 1st Japanese player on a club. He would have been perfect in RF for the Sox (moving Dye to LF).....Woulda coulda shoulda....but dang it, his OBP and plate discipline is exactly what the Sox need more of. That was a lame excuse...he was Cubs bound all along.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) The 9th inning = Bobby Jenks. If Bobby loses a game, I can live with that. I know what Bobby's going to bring me, and there won't be many games where I have to worry about him. I don't know yet what our rebuilt bullpen is going to give me. That's a good point...we'll take our chances with the lead in the 9th and Jenks on the mound. If he struggles this year, we're likely doomed anyways.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) Well, that's one game where the bullpen has worked. Yep, that's encouraging for Linebrink.
  21. I'd like to see Ozzie go with Dotel for 1 batter, and then let Logan face Sizemore, 2nd hitter, Hafner. I don't like the possible Linebrink vs Sizemore match-up.
  22. Great performance by Danks. More than anything this first series, that's the most important thing I've come away with.
  23. Some team is going to get a bargain when they trade for Anderson in a month.
  24. I'm shocked Dye's struggling defensively. Again, there's no excuse that he's not playing in LF. Ozzie has to put his foot down and tell these veterans that it's too bad if they're pride will be hurt.
  25. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) Dropped pop-up. Love the fundamentals. What happened?
