Torii Hunter
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 07:38 AM) If we do sign Rowand, I think we will also go big time after Miguel Cabrera. KW will not be satisfied with just bringing Rowand back. We have nothing to offer the Marlins. They're going to want better players than Fields, DLS, and Gio.

Torii Hunter
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) ESPN.com I know kw is hurting after this one. But its a horrible deal. the Angels had absolutely no need for a CF'er and have basically given up on Mcab, which is good news for us. I think this makes it more likely they go after Cabrera, as now they can give up Willits (the Marlins are desperate for a young CF).

Torii Hunter signs with LAA Angels
I think this acquisition basically makes Miguel Cabrera a lock to go to the Angels.

Torii Hunter
I really hope KW gets creative to fill the two holes in the outfield/leadoff spot instead of getting into bidding wars for average talent like Rowand or trading for Crisp.

Torii Hunter signs with LAA Angels
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 07:00 AM) I dont understand, the Angels have Gary Mathews jr, Vlad, than either Anderson or that rookie guy everyone loved Reggie Willits. Especially since Mathews biggest strength is his defense. I wonder if Willits might be in a trade package for someone like Miguel Cabrera.

Good to hear Hunter is off the board. Have fun robbing homers in right center field in LA Torii.

It's amazing how good the freshman class is. Beasley, Singler, Mayo, Griffin, Rose, Koufos, Bayless, and Love are just sensational talents.

OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 06:33 AM) We still Need I think Hunter and a legit leadoff man if we are really going to contend. That and hope our starting rotation turns itself around. Still have a rotation with 3 huge question marks.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 06:31 AM) Kenny will never allow rebuilding mode, which is why unless he gets lucky again ala 2005, and lightning doesn't strike twice, we're in trouble on the field until he's fired. Sad but true. I understand, with the knowledge that KW is too stubborn to ever rebuild, I have to convince myself that spending 19 million on a former Padres reliever is actually a good move.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 06:28 AM) Can't we just make ONE move that doesn't completely suck? If only we did the right thing and went into rebuilding mode. Someone made a good point in another thread, but it's crazy to think we traded Garland for a major league player that is not a leadoff hitter.

QUOTE(StatManDu @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 06:10 AM) My Brewer fan friends wound up calling him LineStink by the end of the season Yeah, he was bad for them, but Yost also had no clue when to put him in/pull him.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 03:54 AM) It at least partially worked for Hendry, but of course he didn't need to have all that great of team to win that division. Are the Cubs the first team in MLB to get swept by a team that got swept by a team that got swept in the playoffs? Yes

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 03:51 AM) This strikes me as KW taking the Jim Hendry route to fixing problems. How else was he going to fix it? The 3 arms that he acquired last year that were supposed to be relievers of the future for the Sox all seemed to fall out of favor.

We all knew KW would overpay for a reliever this offseason....when Kerry Wood's going to get 3 yrs, 20 million from someone, I don't mind this. Like someone else said, we're not paying the salary.

I don't mind the deal....it's less than I thought he'd get. I'd rather they overpay for a reliever than have to trade for one.

Which CF would you rather have?

Not sure if this has been discussed on here, but KW said that he thinks his starting 5 will be Buehrle, Vaz, Contreras, Danks, and Floyd.

Reds shopping Freel
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Cause we all know Hamilton has no off-the-field problems Compared to Freel, he's a saint. Freel is trouble waiting to happen.

Reds shopping Freel
Less grinders, more skilled players. Freel has so many problem off the field, and he's not reliable on the field. Now Josh Hamilton.....where do I sign up?

2007 Post ASB White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 05:24 PM) The Trib article about Hunter, Uribe and the other topical discussions dropped an interesting tidbit near the bottom. Pablo Ozuna has been playing shortstop in the Dominican League. As I recall, he started as a shortstop. Seems like maybe they are seeing if he can be a backup there. Yet another indicator that Uribe is likely not long for the team. Ozuna is supposed to be one of the poorest defensive shortstops the minor leagues have ever seen.

Best player on the court tonight has been Henderson. I've also been impressed with Nelson's offense and defense.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 04:14 AM) That call on Frazier right there was terrible. These refs have sucked both ways. No flow to the game at all. How many jump shots has Illinois actually made tonight? Can't be more than 5.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 04:10 AM) Illinois just does not have the offensive fire power to hold up in this game. And they've played some terrible, terrible D. Pruitt is a terrible help defender....it's probably the thing that Augustine did the best that no one appreciated.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 03:21 AM) Agreed, I think it was more situational than anything though. And that 3rd call was a f***ing joke as well. It's been called the whole game though, you need to be smarter than that. I've always believed Randle's one of the dumbest players I've ever seen on the basketball court. Nice stretch for the Illini over the last 2 minutes, as they actually got the benefit on some calls from the refs.
