  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:17 AM) There actually are people very impressed by him. I don't see it yet. Jerry Owens has 7 RBI in over 200 AB. That's hard to do. Between Owens, Pods, and Richar, there's some astounding RBI totals. The RBI total between our leadoff hitters and the opposition must be mind-boggling. Pods sure took his time with that twirl.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:16 AM) I was at his first game, he looked good solid contact. Then he was probably given some advice. He just seems to have no strength behind his swing. He looks more like Otis Nixon than anything else right now. Between him and Owens, there's no way you can actually think you can compete for the AL Central last with those mediocre players as full-time starters.
  3. Holy cow, Richar is trying his best to keep me unimpressed. Looks like a weak, slap hitter right now.
  4. Another grind out. BTW, do yourself a favor and watch Joba Chamberlain pitch sometime. He reminds me of Jenks when he first came up.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:55 AM) Did you see that Matt Stairs led off for Toronto the other day. That's great...I don't know why more teams don't try that.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:52 AM) But KW's 15 deep pitching depth can only come up with a replacement who is actually worse. We lead the world in AAAA players, it seems. If KW wants OBP players so much, can we try Thome at leadoff? He's certainly not hitting like a #4 hitter anymore, so why not try something new?
  7. Wow....quite pathetic to see a shallow fly ball to CF be almost a no-throw situation. I wonder if Dye will come out and say again how this team lacks intensity on a lot of nights.
  8. Anyone else just see Adam Dunn's cheap homer?
  9. Interesting stat about Contreras allowing the most unearned runs in the AL this year. When you combine that with his 6.24 ERA coming into the game.....you have yourself someone who shouldn't be in the rotation.
  10. QUOTE(GreenSox @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) He swings at everything, just like Uribe and his OBP shows it. He hits a few more HRs, but faces NL pitching. He's marginally better than Uribe....but not that much. Certainly nothing to do a dance over and say we've improved. Plus, to get Green we'll have to give something up. When I see these Garland for Green (plus the obligatory A ball pitcher) suggestions I want to laugh: essentially trading Garland for a minor upgrade over Uribe. I absolutely agree with you....Garland should bring back something better than him and a C prospect. The Padres won't trade him though, so people should stop discussing it.
  11. Brewers got the tying run to the plate, but Braun flew out deep and then Jenkins hit a rocket right at Griffey Jr.
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:31 AM) You don't have to look far. The Cubs were 7th overall in payroll and last in their division. Ah, that's right. I remember them being close with the Pirates, but I should have just remembered who had 3rd pick vs 4th pick in the draft.
  13. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) This Brewers team looks suspiciously like the White Sox of June. Their pitching sucks a fat one and their offense is pretty much based on the mythical solo homerun. Even better, they are playing like they have already quit. I believe members of the team decided to shave their heads in order to better give access to their rotting hopes to the maggots. Estrada's body language on the field is so bad. They'd be better off releasing him and just playing Miller and some other scrub.
  14. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:23 AM) Gameday has Jose throwing 97 and 98 mph. Should I be excited about that? Subtract 4
  15. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) Cool...if early scores hold here and in Oakland, we'll finally have caught Kansas City. Highest payroll in division = last place Has this ever been done?
  16. Greene is a much better hitter than Uribe...he'd be a monster going from PetCo to the Cell. They won't trade him though.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:15 AM) lol so much for that showcase Ugh, one of those great baseball days. So you really like Richar?
  18. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) I think I just saw the Dodgers scouts get up and leave the game. I was at a Michigan St/Illinois game a few years back, and after the first pitch thrown by the Michigan St. starter, the scout got up and left for the rest of the game. I wish I could say this guy was Mark Mulder on the mound....but it wasn't...he gave up 5 homers in 2 innings.
  19. Haha, what a joke. It's amazing how quick we were to put him back in the rotation after two good relief outings.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) Hey, atleast we're positioning ourselves to lead MLB in 5th starters and 4th OFs. The same person said that Alex Sanchez was far and away the best looking hitter on the team.
  21. This might be a legendary night for Hawk with how this umpire looks so far.
