Quick question: what happened to the skipped start that Danks was supposed to get this time though the rotation? -

Got back in town today, just in time to see Danks continue to struggle. I hadn't noticed this in a few weeks, but McCarthy's ERA is now well below that of Danks. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:28 AM) Aren't you on your honeymoon? Leave on the cruise tomorrow...we're in the hotel tonight. We went to the Astros/Marlins game last night....not exactly a full house. I can proudly say I went to the same spot today where Anna Nicole Smith died.

QUOTE(Shadows @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:27 AM) Ah man, youre gonna have to catch the replay it was awesome.. I saw the first homer...actually, the local news here in Miami cut to it about a minute after it happened.

I'm at a hotel right now, and they don't have ESPN2. I didn't think I could hate extreme sports more than I already did.....but I do now.
-
Well, ESPN should be ashamed of themselves, as they didn't break into the X-Games telecast to show the AB or a highlight. And Mr. Pratt....Bonds is the greatest hitter of his time, and it's not even close. So many players were on steroids, and he still dominated.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:35 AM) SPEED~! Seriously, he'd be a great bench player. No way in hell should we go into a season with him as a starter though.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:32 AM) I like this Owens kid.. he has spunk.. He'd make a great 5th outfielder.
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) Like I said, you're right, Fathom. I was just trying to think of things that, in reality, are improbabilites. It's fine, if you can be that optimistic, then you'll enjoy life/sports a whole lot.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Sure, their pitching is bad. But now that Jose is out of the rotation, and Garland's bump in the road is hopefully over, we could go back to normal. Obviously, never will we be back to 2005-esque, but I want to make a run, and not give up. If we end 6 or 7 out, that would be nice, and we'd know they didn't just quit on us. I don't expect them to make it into 1st, and go all the way, but to not give up would be a plus. And I want Dye to hit like he has been if we are making a real shot at first. If not, then he should just stop trying. I want Sweeney in RF next year, anyways. I think I disagree with every point you make, so I'll just leave it at that.
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:09 AM) Yeah. So what does that have to do with it? If they continue to play like this, they do have a chance. If they play like they currently are, giving up runs with 2 outs and nobody on, then they don't. Play like they currently are? Their pitching now is worse than it's been all year. I'm still not even sure we want Dye to play well the rest of the year. If he does, it's really going to make it harder to sign him/offer arb.
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) 2 outs, nobody on. Same s***, different day, bigger pile. That's funny, cause about 5 minutes ago, you were saying this team still has a chance.
-
I'm getting scared that Podsednik's recent strong stretch at the plate will fool management....once again.
-
Nothing like seeing highlights of the Cubs game on captions, and all you see is how it says "close call showed the Cubs got a huge break". I did happen to see the announcers say that if the Cubs won the World Series, it would be one of the three biggest moments in sports history.
-
Second straight game where the Mets have played their JV team against the Cubs. With Beltran and LoDuca out, the Mets are also sitting Castillo and Alou. Nothing like letting David Newhan get critical at-bats.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) And it would be hard to argue against that right now. He has hi's and low's but he's more often consistant than most. Of course, he could easily get a 3/30 deal on the market, if not more.
-
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) I think JD would take 6 or 7 million a year for 3 years to stay in Chicago. I think the Sox should do it too. No chance in hell will he take that little money. He'll get at least 10 a year.
-
HBP, HBP, bases loaded walk to the Cubs in the first. The nightmare keeps building.
-
Thome hurt again? I'm really surprised we didn't see what type of market was out there for him, and if he'd be willing to waive his NTC
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) Here is the nut of it. About a month ago, Kenny was steaming in the papers about how changes were coming. He put everyone on notice. And pretty much did nothing. The trade deadline is here and gone. What is the penalty now for the vets to play bad. It's just a nightmare all around, it really is. Oh well, 23 more hours, and I'm away from this s*** for 10 days!
-
So, now that we only have Buehrle, Vazquez, and Jenks pitching well for us this year, why does Don Cooper have a job?
-
We really, really should have traded Garland at the deadline. That "knot" in his shoulder is such a red flag, and there's no way you can go through next year with him like we did this year with Buehrle.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) 1. 2005 career years? Not a single player on the offense had a career year. The bullpen was good but not great. The only "career" years were among some of the starting staff. The bullpen wasn't great, it was amazing.
-
Am I totally out of line to suggest this game isn't a slam dunk win for the Sox? Anyways, I can't believe that no one offered more for Dye. He would have been a huge boost for a team during the final 2 months.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) Haven't you said essentially the same thing before? She's a terrible pitcher and it was an awful trade by KW....but stranger things have happened.
