Crede to Phillies?
Maybe it's me, but I don't think the Phillies are going to be in a hurry to trade for another Sox player with huge injury concerns.

Red Sox Indians
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:31 PM) Remember when the Red Sox gave us a "run for our money" in 2005? Oh, wait, we swept them. McCarver's an idiot. He meant the Indians during the regular season.

Rowand Wants Big Money
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) He won't get that much, but he will get more than a lot of people think. I wouldn't be surprised if someone gives him $12 million a year. Yet people still don't comprehend why were so mad about the Vazquez/Young trade, and the debacle that's been Brian Anderson.

Official College Football Thread
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 03:56 AM) Oh God, I accidentally watched sportscenter after the game and caught Poetry Corner with Stuart Scott. All I can say is, are you serious? Yeah, it's probably the lamest thing to ever be on television.

Official 2007-08 College Basketball Thread
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) Can someone please tell Brandan Wright he left to early and he's not ready? Anyways, I'm excited that UNC is #1 in most polls, but I really don't know that they are better than Memphis. Memphis may be undisciplined, but they are ridiculously talented. Their backcourt possibilities are insane. Adding Shawn Taggert to Joey Dorsey and Dozier is pretty formidable in the frontcourt as well. I would be fine if UNC never had to play them this year :-). As for my Texas Techies. They should be a tourney team again. Knight finally decided he would recruit again and pulled in his best TTU class yet with several top 10 Texas players, and even added a solid transfer and a big man that sat out with injury. He has about 10 guys that can play, but will most likely settle on a 7-8 man rotation again. Is it Zeno....Burgess......................................and the rest of the team? Seems like Zeno's going to have to average 23 ppg for them to be good.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) Here's one to ponder: Lew Ford got outrighted off the Twins 40 man roster. Not sure if he chose to become a FA. He's really bad now though. A couple of years ago, he would have been a perfect fit with Pods in LF. However, I'd pass on him now.

Buddy Bell joining the White Sox
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) A perfect example of what the White Sox guy said. Didn't KW say that he was shocked by how much guys like Pierre and Roberts were getting offered, so he thought that Pods, at the price they could bring him back at, was the better baseball decision?

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) Stop for a second... We are supposed to believe the Kenny Williams is going to go after a Scott Boras client who just hit .222 and is asking for 7 years and $140 million? One who has been yanked from games for being lazy and alouf? Sorry with guys like Rowand, Cameron, and Hunter out there, plus a guy from Japan that might be interested in Chicago, I just don't buy it. To me it sounds like Boras trying get some bidders. Trust me, I want the Sox to have nothing to do with Andruw Jones.

Konerko Speculation
QUOTE(rockren @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) Hi, everyone. This is my first post on this board and I look forward to posting here daily for years to come with all of you. I'd have to say this deal wouldn't make sense at all. Mainly because the re-signings of MB and Dye have shown that we're not about to just cut payroll, which is exactly what a deal like this would be trying to do. I saw Shields pitch 5 or 6 times this year and he's clearly in decline. I'd rather just get some lightning rod arms and throw them in the pen for cheap rather than on overpriced middle reliever that's on his way down. Yeah, since that worked so well this year. Welcome to the site though!

Question for our resident Minor League guy on the board
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) Are you telling me the Sox won't put Egbert on the 40 man roster? Even with these two needing to be placed, they will move someone else and make room. It's very possible they don't put him on the 40-man.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 05:23 PM) With the CFs on the market, he would probably be the last one I would bet on the Sox signing. It's the second time I've seen Andruw associated with the White Sox this week. I believe it was the Inside Dish on yahoo.com that speculated the Sox would possibly land him.

Buddy Bell joining the White Sox
Good move....anything that shakes up our minor league coaching/development is a positive.

Konerko Speculation
Can people please stop saying the Sox will go after ARod?! 20 mil a year won't do it for him anyways. It's like people conveniently forget Boras is his agent. I'll say it right now....for 30 mil a year, I'd much rather have Fields at 3rd base, and use the other 29.5 million to upgrade the other holes.
-
Konerko Speculation
That would be an awful trade. You need to get some younger players, and adding only one of them in a trade for 2 of your biggest players just wouldn't be beneficial. When you take into account the rumored players in the Teixiera trade to the Angels, we should be able to get a better package. There's no doubt in my mind that any trade to the Angels would bring back Ervin Santana.

Southern League Top 20
I told people a month ago that the people in charge of scouting for Baseball America hate Egbert, as they think his stuff is nowhere near MLB caliber. I'm not saying they're right or wrong, but I just thought you'd like to know what their reason is.

Trading Fields and/or Danks for a star
Miguel Cabrera is one of the most talented offensive players this game will ever see.....but there's no way the Sox should give up the farm for him. He's going to eat his way to becoming a DH, his attitude is just awful, and he's going to get the 2nd biggest contract in the history of baseball.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 8, 2007 -> 03:33 AM) Michaels is waffling now. I don't think they lose a timeout. They moved the ball. It would make no sense at all if they lost a timeout.

Convert this 3rd and 2, and you're in great shape to win this game. Don't do just a simple run up the middle.

Do they lose a timeout for that?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 8, 2007 -> 03:24 AM) Haha the draw actually worked, the Bears are now a gaudy 2 for 14 on 3rd down. This is even more bizarre than the Arizona game, I mean Arizona basically gave that game away in a matter of 3 plays (2 defensive TD's and the Hester return I believe), whereas this has been gradual ruining of domination. This is going to be close though. They better sneak it if it's 4th and inches.
