  1. Brewers got the tying run to the plate, but Braun flew out deep and then Jenkins hit a rocket right at Griffey Jr.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:31 AM) You don't have to look far. The Cubs were 7th overall in payroll and last in their division. Ah, that's right. I remember them being close with the Pirates, but I should have just remembered who had 3rd pick vs 4th pick in the draft.
  3. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) This Brewers team looks suspiciously like the White Sox of June. Their pitching sucks a fat one and their offense is pretty much based on the mythical solo homerun. Even better, they are playing like they have already quit. I believe members of the team decided to shave their heads in order to better give access to their rotting hopes to the maggots. Estrada's body language on the field is so bad. They'd be better off releasing him and just playing Miller and some other scrub.
  4. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:23 AM) Gameday has Jose throwing 97 and 98 mph. Should I be excited about that? Subtract 4
  5. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) Cool...if early scores hold here and in Oakland, we'll finally have caught Kansas City. Highest payroll in division = last place Has this ever been done?
  6. Greene is a much better hitter than Uribe...he'd be a monster going from PetCo to the Cell. They won't trade him though.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:15 AM) lol so much for that showcase Ugh, one of those great baseball days. So you really like Richar?
  8. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) I think I just saw the Dodgers scouts get up and leave the game. I was at a Michigan St/Illinois game a few years back, and after the first pitch thrown by the Michigan St. starter, the scout got up and left for the rest of the game. I wish I could say this guy was Mark Mulder on the mound....but it wasn't...he gave up 5 homers in 2 innings.
  9. Haha, what a joke. It's amazing how quick we were to put him back in the rotation after two good relief outings.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) Hey, atleast we're positioning ourselves to lead MLB in 5th starters and 4th OFs. The same person said that Alex Sanchez was far and away the best looking hitter on the team.
  11. This might be a legendary night for Hawk with how this umpire looks so far.
  12. The wife and I watched "Bobby" the other day, so it's ironic there's another scoreless streak going on now.
  13. Chris Young is on a tear right now....2 more homers. The Braves announcers were going off on KW for the trade, and saying what a disaster the CF situation has become for the Sox.
  14. Konerko's out for the wknd, due to death of his grandmother.
  15. It's times like this that Doug Melvin should be proud he traded 3 strong pitching prospects for a middle reliever. Hopefully the Cardinals can win 2 of the next 3 vs the Cubs.
  16. QUOTE(lord chas @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 01:34 AM) are the brewers going to take capuano out of the rotation? 0 wins in his last 15 starts thats danny wright territory One more start for him to pick it up. They face Harang though, and Harang went 10 innings last time vs them. 4-1 Reds now.
  17. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 01:29 AM) Hate only counts when it's genuine. I can't stand the team. Estrada has been just brutal at the plate and in the field. Their starting pitching is brutal, and Villanueva seems to lose two games a week. Like I said in the other thread, their defense is the worst I've seen in a long time. They're going to end up a good 6 or 7 games back by the end of the season.
  18. Well, time to try something new. We can use this thread to complain about everything this near .500 team is doing. FWIW, they're going to have to face Mr. Scoreless, Brandon Webb, next week, while the Cubs will miss him.
  19. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 01:22 AM) Because none of us have anything to do with the success or failure of the Brewers. If you're so worried about it -- and you are -- why don't you create a Love For the Cubs thread to counter Teh Jinx0rs? A little upset cause the Braves are losing?
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 01:20 AM) I really hope we don't close this. It's a really silly superstition to. I'm not the powers-that-be, though. Why not give it a try?
  21. Brewers have to be one of the worst defensive teams in the last decade in baseball. They've made three terrible plays already today. Their fans are booing them right now.
  22. Grinder city tonight with Konerko out of the lineup. It's sickening how Ozzie seems to create opportunities so he can play those two guys. And FWIW, a friend of mine saw Sweeney play this week, and couldn't believe how bad he looks right now.
