QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 07:00 PM) Hawk is seriously getting pissed off with this team. I could only imagine what he'd be saying if this was a Manuel coached team.
-
Garland pitching like a pussy today, and already is paying for it. This team has absolutely quit.

QUOTE(gosox41 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) Then barring any trades for real OFer's, there's a good chance the Sox starting OF next year could be Fields in LF, Erstad in CF, and Sweeney/Mackowiack in RF with Owens the first back up OFer if Crede's back acts up an Fields has to go to 3B or when Estad gets injured. Bob Mackowiak won't be back next year, as he'll make too much money. Rowand will be our CF. Does it really matter who's on the team though? They have like 18 holes to fix on this team. KW's done such a pathetic job with this personnel.

QUOTE(gosox41 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:25 AM) I guess I'm trying to be optimistic. Some don't like much negativity. Truth be told, with the $84 mill guaranteed to the 13 players next year and the fact taht they have 9 holes (I'm not exaggerating) to fill next year with hopefully at least $16 mill and no farm system pretty much puts this team up a creek without a paddle. If they sign Dye toa n $8-10 mill per year contract, it gives them that much less to spend on that crappy bullpen, a SS, etc. Barring any trades, I can tell you what I think they may do with the OF next year, but most won't like it. Bob They won't be re-signing Dye.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) Then you need to re-evaluate yourself as a judge of baseball players. Jose Contreras at 1000 > Gavin Floyd in high school. What I meant by that quote is that everything I ever thought about the game of baseball was slapped in the face by how Ozzie Guillen managed the 8th inning. If that's what a good manager does, then I don't know anything.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) If you honestly believe that Kenny Williams still thinks that, you're a lot more dense than I thought. Ozzie saying it is one thing -- what is he supposed to say? -- but at this point, I really doubt Kenny isn't fielding just about every offer for Dye, Mackowiak, Contreras, Thorton, Iguchi etc. KW doesn't think we have what it takes, and I don't think he's actually thought we had a chance for over two months. However, Ozzie will continue to play the veterans over the rookies whenever he can.

With a bad game here, Danks is going to be over 5. I'm really interested to see if he beats McCarthy in ERA this season. A team like the Red Sox will punish him with all of these high pitches.
-
Pinella and the Cubs can't do anything wrong right now. Other teams can't get a hit with RISP to save their life against their starters either these days. The Cubs are on their way to winning their 17th out of 18 against righty starters.

Expect Mets to seriously pursue Iguchi

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) Willie Harris hit .380 in Charlotte with 6 homers in 100 ABs at approximately the same age Richar is right now. He came up to the White Sox later that season and hit a robust .204 in 137 ABs. Getting a few hits in Charlotte doesn't necessarily make someone a can't miss prospect. Just look at OMIT's stats this year. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) At this point, which pitcher gives us the best chance to win a ballgame, Floyd or Contreras? After what I saw in the 8th inning last night, I can't answer questions like that anymore.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) Seriously, what in the world is the harm of giving Gavin Floyd the next 2 months to see if he can't start adapting into a real big league pitcher? Because certain members of our organization think we still have a shot.

The .198 Hinske overshift, Ozzie's brilliance at work

QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) Maybe I can defend this a little more... Eric Hinske isn't known as a great bunter. The bunt he put down was perfect...how many times out of 10 do you think he executes like he did? Great bunt? It rolled into the outfield. That's like having a penalty kick in soccer with no goalie. -

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 02:45 AM) Hands down one of the dumbest thing I've ever seen watching baseball. Has fathom posted yet? Yep, and I was disgusted before Contreras threw a single pitch in the 8th inning. -
Ned Yost is not a good manager. He just let Villanueva walk the bases loaded with 2 outs, and kept him in the game. A wild pitch and broken bat single later, and the Brewers are down 2. The Cubs are about to be 2.5 back, and they have all the momentum in the world. What a terrible, terrible day of baseball.
-
I knew there was a reason my blood pressure increased when I read that stupid article about how Ozzie is taking the reigns off of the starting pitchers.
-
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 02:00 AM) wassy, you're not Bret Prinz or Andy Sisco or David Aardsma. Too bad we didn't get Marmol instead of Aardsma.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 01:59 AM) He's done nothing but produce, and he's a heck of a story. Yep, someone who saw a ton of games involving Sox minor leaguers last year thought that Logan and Wasserman were their only relievers in the system who could help. BTW, is he Jewish?
-
It's too bad....even if we lose this, it seems like we should be 8-1 on this road trip.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 01:57 AM) I like the deceptive release. Looks like he has some sink. It would be nice to actually have a reliever who can pitch to contact.
-
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 01:55 AM) This isn't bevington waving in a pitcher who hasn't warmed up. but it's in the same zipcode. what was the point of letting Count pitch the eighth? somebody defend it. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Nope, it was worse. It could be a 20 million dollar boneheaded decision.
-
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 01:54 AM) This effectivly will end Contreras trade talk If only it could start the Fire Ozzie talk (in the press), then it would be well worth it.
-
10 runs, should have been 12. This organization deserves every bad thing that happens to them the rest of this season.
-
Well, please fire Ozzie Guillen. What a f***ing dumbass.
-
This is actually fun right now.
