White Sox vs. Twins, 7/08/07 (W)
I don't think I could care less about this game.

It's going to be fun watching Vazquez, Contreras, Danks, Floyd, and Gio try to lead the league in losses in 2008 and 2009. I have no problem trading Buehrle, but it signals that Garland will be gone also, and because of that, KW will be timid to trade Contreras.

2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) At times, I just hate Sox fans. I'm listening to this AWFUL show on the Score where Offman is having a fantasy GM segment where retarded callers pitch their ridiculous trade proposals. My 2 favorite: It's just going to get worse over the next 20 days.

QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) Frustrated a little? Anyway, he doesn't exactly have the easiest role, but he has some decent stuff. I'm not prepared to ditch him... He sucks....outside of his first relief appearance and his Cubs start, he's one of the worst pitchers in Sox history. 51 base runners in his last 17 relief innings is all you need to know.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) chisox72, I agree 110%. Taking a step back, I think they made their minds up about Buehrle in the offseason. The guy was given the ball every opening day for several years, then all of a sudden you give the ball to someone else. Some will say that was because how he pitched in 2006, but if that was the case Garland would've gotten it once or twice based on performance. And don't forget the main acquisitions in the trades were two lefty starters, as well as drafting another lefty with our first pick this year. At this point, we just have to hope KW surprises us by who he acquires in the trade.

At least this will save us enough money to sign Ichiro this offseason (and yes, when I say Ichiro, I mean Rowand).

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:15 AM) I want someone in the Chicago media to get some quotes from KW tomorrow... or else! KW had some quotes tonight....he said he doesn't know where the agent's comments came about things being taken off the table. Of course, no one believes this.

Trades are not allowed to be announced on the Monday/Tuesday of the ASB, are they?

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 03:10 AM) Basically Buerhle's side removed the full NTC demand but added an 5th year option ($17) that would kick in if he was traded, and the Sox refused. Yep, and that would be a no lose situation for the Sox....which shows you how they really felt about this.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:54 AM) fathom, you have no idea what good value is because most of the players you get back you have never seen play. You will go by what others say and it will take some time to evaluate. My point is, this team is going nowhere with the players we have therefore somethign needs to change. You cannot get good return for crap players but you can get good return for your best players. The best players on a crap team. SELL why you can. Crede is now damaged goods, the whiteos suspected he would get hurt and they took the chance. They got burned. He cannot be moved until he can prove again that he can play, but this is the year to have moved him if he could play. We are losing, Individual stats mean nothing UNLESS you use them to trade people. I disagree with your opinion on never seeing these guys. My most trusted "source" sees hundreds of minor league games each year, and he's able to give me good reports on these guys. I probably have a better idea of what type of players these minor leaguers are than 99 pct of the people on here. Oh well....hopefully we'll get some guys that are in the majors now. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:58 AM) Look at the rumors and I think you can see what KW wants: a young leadoff hitter to satisfy Guillen's desire for speed at the top. They obviously asked for Ellsbury and Theo responded by suggesting a package including Julio Lugo (who formerly had leadoff skills). I just have a feeling they'll end up with a AAA version of Pods...it's not a good feeling. We better not get Lugo. If we trade Buehrle, it better free up money instead of giving us another bad contract.

Even though I'm mad now, I'll be ok with everything if we get good value in return.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:27 AM) Fathom this is the same owner and GM that brought you the world series. The same principals applied then as they do now. The very best way to speak to the owner is not to go to the park. They are counting on you to go. Don't go and don't watch, otherwise the whitesox are run the exact same way as they were two years ago. In fact I am sure KW and JR are kicking themselves at signing konerko. Right now he is worthless. They won't make that mistake again. They got my money all day yesterday, and they should be f***ing ashamed of themselves. KW basically lucked into the 2005 offseason.....hell, he traded Carlos Lee for Barbaro.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) After all this has happened, not only is Mark not going to stay, but the Sox have substantially lowered his value due to the talks. Nice work. And by reading the recent article, it's obvious it wasn't about the NTC. Now, we're putting ourselves in a whole when it comes other negotiations, as it would look awful if they offered another FA a NTC after we wouldn't give it to Buehrle. It's pretty sad when a big market team can't sign a pitcher to a massive discount.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:20 AM) In the very least, this situation will provide entertainment with all the horrible over-exaggerations that will be on here over the next week. Going to be a lot of fun. If the trade doesn't bring back high value, it's going to be one of the uglier weeks in modern Sox history.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) After all this has happened, not only is Mark not going to stay, but the Sox have substantially lowered his value due to the talks. Nice work. With everything that has gone on this year, I don't think Kenny Williams deserves to keep his job. Not only does he have one of the worst 100 million dollar teams in history, but the future of this organization looks about as bad as ever. It's hard to see how we won't be competing for anything higher than 3rd phace over the next 5 years.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2929267 If it's true the Sox declined that extra year option if he was traded, then they obviously don't want him on the team for the next four years. This is total f***ing bulls*** now, and this organization will deserve all the s*** they receive in the next week. I can't wait for KW to trade for more underachieving 24 year old pitchers who they think they can fix by what they see on the video.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 02:08 AM) When did I say we'd become the Pirates? I'm just saying you can't win a World Series by ignoring the biggest agent in baseball and not giving any no trade clauses. That isn't to say we'll suck, but if we go that route we have to win by drafting well and making a lot of good trades, and although we've done part 2 of that under KW, we have not done part 1. Plus, we're in a pretty good division, so I'm not counting on success unless policies change, and that goes for the GM and Owner. Those 2 could win, but policies must change and 2 men that stubborn don't strike me as types that will adjust to a changing market. I have no clue how JR and KW think they can get the talent level back up again to be playoff caliber.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) Have fun watching Gavin Floyd every 5 days next year. Plus whatever rookie or retread takes Contreras' slot. Good pithcing is hard to find, and the 4 year deal for Buehrle isn't that big of a risk. KC signed Meche, but the Sox won't take this risk.... Don't forget whoever takes over for Garland. If you're not going to give out NTC, you better be trading Garland, Contreras, Thome, Iguchi, etc. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) For who? Even if the negotiation leaks were the fault of Buehrle's family, the Sox organization looks absolutely pathetic right now.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 12:10 AM) Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder have both homered again tonight, those 2 are just insane. And they haven't scored since. That team's going to need to add another bat if they want to make the playoffs. Jeff Suppan's contact with them is going to be quite the poor choice in the long run.

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) I don't know if anyone saw the postgame interview with MB today... but things don't look good. When asked the odds of him being here after the all star break, he said 50/50, but probably would lean towards getting moved. He also threw something in there about being discouraged and actually said something along the lines of going into Kenny and Rick Hahn about pulling the deal off the table. He said whatever is going to happen he would just like it to happen now. It's really pathetic how this is being handled right now.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Just bring the kid up and give him another chance, for the love of Pete. He's been hitting well of late, and he deserves another chance. If only he had lead off experience.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Well, Anderson not playing for Charlotte tonight. Either something's happening with him or he's got Dye's Syndrome, where everything goes wrong with you when there's a chance of getting traded. I think he got injured, as he was ph for in the 8th last night.
