Good job Pablo! Someone finally noticed that Wang is not throwing a sinker on his first pitch to each batter. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) By all means, I can't defend his error-that-wasn't there. I just disagree that his bat has been "s***ty" all season. I agree with this post 100 pct. -

QUOTE(vandy125 @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:23 AM) Every mistake Erstad makes right now is magnified for some reason. Didn't he also save at least 2 runs earlier in the game with a nice catch at the wall? When people on this site and the announcer are annointing him as the greatest defensive CF in history, then those were two plays that should have been made. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:21 AM) Erstad never gets bad reads or hits into double plays. How can anybody rip on him? It wasn't a bad hit, it was just right at someone. -

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:15 AM) Damn you're worse than a sportswriter when it comes to overexageration. End the Erstad argument ? Cost us the game ? Worst defensive inning in White Sox history ? You've been around for 100+ years ?? If you asked me before the game who were the 3 best Sox defensive players on the field, I'd say Crede, Uribe, and Erstad. I doubt there will be another game this year when all three of them make a big miscue during the same game. And I think we have no chance against Wang and his sinker, especially with this bogus lineup we have tonight. -

QUOTE(chisox72 @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) Especially since there has never been an outfielder in a Sox uniform that has misread or gotten a poor jump on the ball. Don't talk about Uribe's error or the fact that Crede looked back to first instead of second on the line out... I did in every post I made about the inning. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:13 AM) Well it makes it easier for you to crucify him. Sometimes, we could all use an editor and right now, you could use an editor, my friend. There were 3 "errors" made by supposedly our three best defensive players. -

That's about the 4th miscue I can recall Erstad having in CF this year. At this rate, he'll have about 15 this year, and Hawk will say he's the greatest CF of all time. -

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) Thats why I dont like Uribe's "gold glove" defense. I wish people would stop saying some of our players are Gold Glove winners when they've never won it. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) Slipped or misread by Erstad . Linedrive right at him. Tough play but gotta be made. Ha -

Well, that should end every Erstad argument. That was a miserable play. Very likely just cost us the game. This is one of the worst defensive innings in Sox history. -

Stick with the forkball. The infield is letting Contreras down this inning. -

Let's see if Contreras can pitch over that error. He has better control of his forkball tonight compared to his fastball. -

Wow, that's an unacceptable effort by Uribe. I love the hustle by Jeter though. -

QUOTE(Brian @ May 17, 2007 -> 01:56 AM) Oh My, how did Joe not put that ball on the concourse? Wind's blowing in....good thing, as Nieves would have had a three run homer. -

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 17, 2007 -> 01:42 AM) Contreras 14 consecutive scoreless innings . The longest streak of his career. Not for long....Contreras is going to realize this isn't the Twins. He needs to do more than throw that 90 mph fastball down the pipe. -

Biggest difference with Dye from last year to this year is last year, he tried to drive the ball wherever it was pitched. This year, he's a dead-pull hitter. -

Anyone know if Nieves has a good arm? We're going to have to be active to avoid double plays against Wang's sinker. -

That pitch crossed at Jeter's knees, and landed just above the dirt. That was nasty. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 17, 2007 -> 01:08 AM) Sweeney seems to have plenty of bat speed, the problem is he is getting busted on the inside pitches, his strength is fine. I think even Sweeney's biggest supporters right now would say his strength is the biggest thing he needs to improve. -

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 17, 2007 -> 01:03 AM) I've never heard that breaking your bat is indicative of lack of strength in all the years I have followed baseball which is 35+ years. The kid is 6'4" 215. That appears to be plenty strong enough to hit a baseball. I would think breaking your bat as a lot of hitters do now is more a sign of the lighter bats that everyone uses to increase bat speed or just not getting the fat part of the bat on the ball. I'm not saying your wrong, I'd just like to know where you've seen that information. Lack of bat speed can easily cause you to not get the sweet part of the bat on the ball, resulting in a broken bat. -

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 17, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) The Sweeney bandwagon has cooled down just a bit recently... Sweeney breaks so many bats when he's swinging. That's a huge sign that his strength isn't anywhere near the level it's going to have to be at in order to be successful.
