QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 13, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) I really can't figure out how the offense has taken such a dive between this year and last. It happened during the entire 2nd half of last season. We're relying on a bunch of older players to match their totals from the previous years. From the sound of it, I'll be surprised if Thome is 100 pct the rest of this season for an extended period.
-
Well, not a promising start to this inning.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 13, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) But LOOK at his splits in Charlotte... Minor league stats don't mean s***....I've heard horror stories about the caliber of talent in the IL this year.
-
I'm sure our lineup wouldn't look any better if we could play Iguchi at 2nd today, and DH Perez.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 13, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) I don't think Iguchi is worth the $5mil he will ask for after the season. First, he'll ask for more. Second, I want nothing to do with him. His overall skills have diminished a ton. It looks like he needs a cut-off man on his double play throws.
-
Sweeney chased ball four, and then weakly popped out. He looks pretty s***ty against LHP. Iguchi is such a rally killer though....I honestly would love to see Andy Gonzalez play a game or two.
-
Good grief, get him out of the freaking lineup. He has to be one of the worst overall players in baseball this year.
-
Good job by Crede...even though that 2-2 was a strike.

Way to work the count Pablo

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) Vazquez has no command of anything today. This game is teetering on the brink of bad. It's like before the 4th inning of yesterday. Does it matter though....one run might be enough to beat us. I can't stand watching this f***ing offense. Think of it this way....you have two guys in Terrero and Molina who have no business being in the majors, a rookie in Sweeney who doesn't look comfortable vs LHP, two slumping power hitters in Konerko and Dye, two players in Crede/Iguchi who all they can do it hit pop ups to the right side, and a guy in Ozuna who has an OPS around .500 over the last 100 games or so. We need Uribe to hit two solo homers I guess.

I wonder if DJ and Hawk ever get sick of making excuses for our hitters? Gotta learn to foul those pitches off Sweeney. Wait, no hits thru the first 3 innings? This is shocking how consistent it is.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Lefties hit De La Rosa better than righties, yet our brilliant lineup is righty dominant. Maybe looking at splits might be something the whitesox front office might want to take a look at. Sometimes stats dont lie. Who were we going to have play? Erstad is worse than NL pitchers against LHP. AJP is the only guy who really should be in there, but we'd rather let Molina embarrass himself at the plate more.
-
Huge batter in this game here....hopefully Chuck Garfein was wrong in the pregame about Gload beating us once this year with his bat.
-
This might be the worst fastball I've ever seen Vazquez have. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) What the f*** goes on in the White Sox front office? b****ing about the rising cost of salaries. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) As good as Ozuna was the first half last year, he now has managed a .505 OPS. That's pretty hard to do, unless you're Cintron, Molina or Anderson. Yeah, Ozuna looks awful. He was so good at the start of last year, but he's been horrible since.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) This is a semi-serious question. Do we ever get hits in the first 9 innings? Fixed
-
This is so freaking embarrassing. It's really a good thing we didn't keep Eduardo Perez on the roster. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) This offense has no bite I have a feeling our winning ways lately have masked all these issues in the front office, and no chances are even being considered. It's fascinating though to see De La Rosa keep everything down, and Vazquez throwing everything up.
-
Everything by Javy is up and away. His fastball's also clocking in at a weak 89 mph. He's not sharp at all.
-
Some more great at-bats by our offense. Ozuna's swing is so messed up right now....you can tell on his follow-thru that he's using all arms, and isn't getting his body into the swing at all.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 13, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) Would you accept a .000 batting average if it came with a quality start from the pitcher? That would be kinda funny if Molina went the entire season without a hit. Yes....an offense should be able to get more than 3 runs even in the NL (which is what Molina is, the pitcher hitting). Ozuna's at DH, Sweeney's in CF batting 7th.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 13, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) Thome isnt going to be back for awhile, his swings were called "tentative" I'll be pleasantly stunned if he plays 2 consecutive games during the month of May. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 13, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) Sweeney: .276 .364 4 walks 3 k's How many pitches per at bat does this kid see? Its unreal that he is already that developed in the judgement dept. Sweeney's going to strike out looking on occasion due to taking so many close pitches. That's fine, as long as he doesn't pull a Pods and let it happen seemingly every other game. I was so impressed with his ability to lay off two, 3-2 offspeed pitches in the dirt last night.

Gustavo with another chance to get his first hit....and it might be his last chance. My predicted lineup is: Ozuna, Uribe, Dye, Konerko, Crede, Iguchi, Terrero, Gonzalez, Molina

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 13, 2007 -> 04:07 AM) I'd love Grudz and Eckstein. Grudz Eckstein Erstad Mmhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I would have to mute my TV forever if we got Eckstein. Hawk's love affair for him would make Erstad resemble Brian Anderson.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 13, 2007 -> 04:17 AM) I think Cintron's struggles and this bereavement list stuff are not a coincidence, his mind is elsewhere. Take care of your mind Alex and get back here as focused as possible. I think the offseason surgery has had a huge impact on his strength.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 13, 2007 -> 02:35 AM) That's one of the stupidest things I've heard all year. I'm surprised at you. Andy Gonzalez over Iguchi? Please. Tadahito has been garbage but let's not go nuts. I didn't mean for the season....just for this game on Sunday vs a lefty.
-
Great base running by Terrero, as the pitcher almost caught that.
