White Sox vs. Blue Jays, 6/02/07 (L)
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) Two in a row?? Huh? is it possible!?! I heard on the post-game show last night that the Sox have not had a hit off of an opposing relief pitcher since last Sunday's game. Pretty sad. 0 for last 48, I believe.

Zambrano is nuts!!
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) There always seems to be wrong with something on this team or in the organization that the majority of our fans just can't let go. It is always the negative first. That attitude freaking sucks. Just look at a lot of these posters - enjoy the last 2 months of Buehrle - no chance in re-signing him. These same fans have no knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes and just want to think about the worst. Or maybe just some of us know how JR feels about signing pitcher to long-term contracts and what Buehrle's value is going to be on the open market.
-
If Carlos Zambrano is a free agent, would you sign him?
Not until he shows the same type of stuff he had in recent years. His stuff is mediocre right now compared to how he used to throw.

Zambrano is nuts!!
Anyone else hear rumors that Zambrano went apes*** in the clubhouse and tore it apart? I bet Barrett will be the scapegoat, and he'll be traded this wknd.

Jerry Owens called up
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) These things also tend to happen occasionally when your average starting OF age is 32. Go get em Jerry. We could use someone stepping up. Just hit freaking .300 please. I'm going to the race track today. I'll update people if I see Pods rehabbing.

And so the Rowand nonsense begins...
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 07:00 PM) good point, not to mention that he's made some serious fielding gaffes the last few years. Fixed

Question about Buehrle ?
Here's my thinking: with the Sox likely replacing Crede with Josh Fields this offseason, that should really clear up a lot of payroll. If the Sox don't bring back Buehrle, they better be in the hunt for guys like Ichiro.

Jerry Owens called up
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) He has been on fire lately. Im excited to see him get a shot. Yep, he's been on quite the tear. Any type of spark plug would be welcome. Wouldn't it be nice of a minor leaguer to come up and actually deserve to stay on the roster when the guy they're replacing comes off the DL?
-
And so the Rowand nonsense begins...
I'd give Rowand a 3 year, 18 million dollar deal. The sad thing is he's going to get a lot more money than that.

Ozzie Throwing in the Towel... on Himself?
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) I am sorry if I am bringing out the capital letters retorts from you as I certainly don't mean to do that, it appears I have upset you by raining on the negativity parade. I thought this board was for expressing viewpoints, some of which may differ from those who I guess are on here every day with 30k posts saying mostly the same things. If you tell me to please stop saying something that's fine and I appreciate the courtesy of you at least saying please. In return I will have probably about two dozen things I will please ask you to stop saying, whether in capital letters or small case. Weren't you the one who said Jenks hadn't pitched in 9 days? Well, his last save appearance was then, but he had the 9th inning against Tampa on Friday. How come I have the feeling that if he had pitched 3 times in the last 6 games, you'd be praising Ozzie for not overusing him. I'll be happy to listen to anything you want me to stop staying, as long as it's an actual fact.

Question about Buehrle ?
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) good analysis. why would buerhle want to stay on a team that gets much younger? Unless the team gets younger but also signs some veterans to get a nice mixed blend. Like if the Sox go out and sign Castillo and Rowand to go along w/ Fields, Sweeney and Owens, that would be a pretty good looking team. A lineup with Fields, Sweeney, and Owens = 4th place in the AL Central

Am I the only one who now believes
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Can we take Buerhle off the list please?? Why, he's the guy that can bring in the best value and the guy most likely to not be back this season.

Who would make a play for A-Rod now?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) Oh come on Fathom, the Yankees don't need a stud 1b, they need starting pitching, and everyone and their grandmother knows it. That's what I'm saying....why would they trade one of the best players in baseball, as well as a promising young outfielder for a RF who's going to be a FA after this year, and a 3rd baseman with back issues who's going to get very expensive soon. There's no way the Yanks will trade ARod, but if for some reason they did, they'd get back someone they could control for more than just one more season.
-
Who would make a play for A-Rod now?
Why in the world would the Yankees do that trade? If anything, they need a stud 1b right now. Also, the Yankes and interest in Contreras can't be mentioned in the same sentence.
-
And so the Rowand nonsense begins...
I'd rather just wait for him to be a FA and sign him instead of having to trade for him at his peak value.

Giants scout in attendance
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:40 AM) Laughable. I'll take Tim Lincecum anyday of the week. Nothing he wants that is realistic to be traded.
-
Giants scout in attendance
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:30 AM) And the Giants picked up most all of his ~$5.1M salary for Randy f***ing Messenger. I saw Messenger pitch on Wednesday vs Cubs, and he was very impressive. To be honest, he looked a lot like what Jenks does this year. 96 mph fastball with a sharp curve. Benitez looks terrible this season. I can't stand his attitude, and he's such an obvious former steroid user.

Am I the only one who now believes
QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:28 AM) And as soon as that happens, KW should not only be fired, but banned from baseball entirely. I think it would be Ozzie clamoring to bring him back. Sadly, I'm sure you'll hear us associated with the likes of Chone Figgins, David Eckstein, etc.
-
Giants scout in attendance
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 05:26 AM) They have nothing I want. I wonder if we might have been discussing a Benitez for MacDougal type of trade. Of course, Benitez was traded to the Marlins late tonight.

Am I the only one who now believes
I'll guarantee that the Sox will bring back Erstad next season, even if he doesn't meet his option incentives.
-
Giants scout in attendance
The Tribune is reporting that the Giants have had a scout in attendance at the last two Sox series. Maybe we're seeing if we can trade one of our AARP players for one of theirs.

Erstad hurt
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 04:07 AM) Chris Young has a .314 obp right now. I think he's going to be a good player, but if Fields came up and put up those kind of numbers everyone would be ready to crucify him. I love when people take one stat and try to base their argument around it when there's other stats that prove the player is performing well. I'm pretty sure that Chris Young would have the 2nd highest OPS on the roster for our starters.

New Direction for Organization
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 03:40 AM) Fathom, I think that you'd agree that even if Kenny put together the PERFECT, ideal winter, the Sox still wouldn't be much better than where they are now. I was expecting more creativity from KW. A lot of us thought he was collecting young arms in order to then make a trade for a superstar like Carl Crawford. With all of the momentum the organization had earned from the 2005 and 2006 season in regards to attendance, I had higher hopes that KW would bring in one more superstar to try and keep the momentum going for at least another season. I have no problem with him rebuilding, but I thought it should have been done after this current season. I hated the Garcia trade, as he was our best chip to go ahead and add another talent to the major league team. When you look at how much the Astros gave up to get Jennings, I really think we could have gotten more than a good, but not great prospect, in Gio and the crap that is Gavin Floyd. I honestly think Gio's best value to this team would be to trade him again, as his numbers are skewed by pitching in Birmingham and padding his stats against a few real bad hitting teams. I still think we messed up by not including Perez on the 25 man roster. Thome is worthless against LHP. Also, I still think Ozzie messed up by putting Toby Hall at first base. It was a stupid decision on his half.
