He's hurt, he can't hit nearly as well as normal, and other teams figured that out and started to pitch to him more in June. Is a DL trip necessary? For all the love Buehrle is getting here for his bounceback year, Jon Garland is actually slightly better in ERA (3.15 to 3.33), has a similar record at 6-5 to Mark's 5-4, and similar WHIP at 1.16 to Mark's 1.10. And unlike Mark, Jon is coming off an 18 win season. One day he'll get the credit he deserves among Sox fans. Like I said, if you can get him to waive his NTC and find some valuable prospects in return, trade Thome. People closer to the situation than any of us keep saying how injured he's been/is.
