Oh dear.....great start yet again. Give me a f***ing break. I wonder how many hits we can allow with 2 strikes tonight. Is that the 3rd time this year we've allowed the first batter to homer?
-
Amazing looking at the batting averages of our starting players coming into this game.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) You say this like KW was wrong. All the hitters did get overpaid this winter. There were some who he missed out on (IMO), but good players got star money this winter. There will be potentially two stars on the market this winter in Andruw Jones and (maybe) A-Rod, and a third very good player in Ichiro. I'm not saying people didn't overpay, but if salaries keep increasing like they did, you're going to have to spend more money than you did a few years ago to get equal talent.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) I don't believe anyone questions that Gonzalez isn't a 1.90ERA, 10.5K/IP type of pitcher in the major leagues. Regardless, I believe it's ridiculous to trade him or any other starting pitcher with upside. How exactly are we going to field a good starting rotation if the organization is unwilling to spend money in the FA market, consistently selects low in the draft, and has an abysmal track record at finding international talent? I have more confidence we'll pay for hitters in the market. I think the big issue is if we'll actually pay for players in the FA market, or will KW continue to whine about the overpaying going on?

Gio's numbers are better than he really is, in my opinion. Like Tony said earlier, I'd have no problem if we used him to acquire a good young hitter. I know KW did a good job of upgrading the pitching in our system last offseason, but he neglected to add anything on the offensive end that will help our aging squad.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) Hell, I'd make a case that Floyd is more talented than Hirsch (when his stuff is right, albeit that also has to do with Floyds mental well being and Floyd is just a bit younger). Hirsh has the polish that Floyd lacks. I'd much rather have him than Gavin in our system.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 04:23 AM) Count would be my choice, unless we want Major League Baseball's first fifty year old pticher. Contreras is a shell of himself from this year at this time.

So....I was thinking about who we could acquire to play DH against RHP if Thome is out for a month or two, and one name comes to mind as a very possible candidate: a .354 batting average with a .956 OPS in AAA. He has two WS rings. He's none other than Timo Perez.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 02:40 AM) Borowski and Jones belong nowhere near our bullpen. You are seriously on some serious s***. Think we should give Rod Beck a call as well? How dare you trash the Shooter. BTW, you see that steroid stuff with the Mets today? Gonna be some big names implicated.

Beautiful swing by Iguchi. It would be funny to hear whatever Ozzie just said to him.
-
Wow, big time pitch by Sisco! Great to see him get up to 96 mph also.
-
Holy smokes....great pick by Uribe.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 02:29 AM) Let the overmanaging begin! I guess Aardsma learned to never blow a game again. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 02:30 AM) Ding. We won in 05 because of two things. Our pitching was amazing. And in the playoffs, our guys decided to hit. And we had three relievers have beyond career years.
-
Good grief....why are we throwing fastballs to Vlad with a slider pitcher? Now we have Sisco in to face Anderson.
-
Excellent catch by AJ! Don't let Vlad beat you on your fastball.
-
Thornton's overthrowing everything. I never understood why Ozzie just won't let the better reliever start the inning if he's coming in anyways for the 2nd batter.
-
SSI....I guarantee you could get Cintron out right now at the plate.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 02:12 AM) I wasn't trying to get loud about 33 at-bats. You know me better than that. All I was saying is that Pods was playing well before he got hurt. Would he have kept it up? I don't know. Would he have gone 0 for his next 35? I don't know. Kenny has said atleast 78 times that he expected Pods to have a better year. And he was doing that (I know. Sample size). But that's all we have to go on right now. Now if you want to say Kenny should've went in another direction because it was a lock Pods would get hurt. Fine. That's another argument. And will just agree to disagree as far as there being anything out there that would've made us better. And when I say better, I don't mean a smudge better. From what I've heard, KW basically felt forced to bring back Pods due to the asking price of Roberts/Pierre/Matthews Jr. He had every intention of not having him come back.

Crede picks up Iguchi with the nice pick. It's amazing how many people swing at first pitch from Thornton.
-
Meatballs after meatballs....mercy!
-
Oh boy...super start. Get Contreras the f*** out of the game Ozzie!
-
How in the f*** is Contreras starting this inning? This is so f***ing stupid.
-
Nice hit by Erstad, and I thought Iguchi had that one. Aardsma likely to start the 7th. This server has an amazing consecutive game streak going.
-
Something new from Crede. If Ozzie lets Contreras start the 7th, I give up.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 01:52 AM) Wasn't Kotchman the guy who hit a three run homer off of Contreras in 8th at Anaheim during the regular season of 2005. McPherson. Contreras usually owns Kotchman.
